A different Survival RP
Greetings, Guildmembers. Anyone up for some Post apocalyptic Survival setting?
For a few days now IŽve been pondering of opening a survival roleplay though not really with zombies or post nuclear wasteland. With the help of the lovely MsKittyCatty I was able to compile something that I hope will spark people's interests
Warning: It's very dark and grim
It's the near future and the world is plagued after the use of an experimental chemical weapon that was released into the atmosphere during World War 3. Although the chemical itself was harmless to anything, it got mixed up with the clouds. Now it rains frequently in countries such as North America, Europe and the such and the chemicals causes the rain to be acidic towards human flesh, able to melt the skin off the bone in about 5 minutes. Live stock was a tad more resistant to it (Aside from pigs) but still died at a rapid pace, decreasing produce considerably. The government created water filters to make sure that the people wouldnŽt be drinking acidic water. Safe to say though that many people died in the first days of the first Rain.
A vaccine was then later created to make sure that people would be able to consume the water and able to walk outside in the rain without the threat of their skin sliding off their bones and after some testing on pigs first and then on humans did they seemingly have the vaccine completed. However the vaccine had a terrible side effect after a long exposure to the chemical rain. The vaccinated people started to mutate and become feral. The vaccine and the chemical seemingly increased muscle growth, decrease in deductive reasoning, increase in primal instincts and mad rage in the person. They were still resistant to the chemical but the damage was done and even more people died in the hands of the mutants.
The mutants aren't contageous like zombies but they breed at a rapid pace and hunt like pack animals. They are also known to try and breed with humans but seemingly haven't been successful, but that doesn't stop them from trying. They are cannibalistic and very violent.
The OOC will be more specific but that's the jist of it the players play survivors trying to avoid the mutants, raiders and what not.
Also, if you are going to talk about how a chemical such as that wouldn'T exist, just don't XD It's SUPER-SCIENCE!!! And this is Alternate reality so WW3 happened in like 20XX (Specific date coming up)
Mutants are NOT playable. It's like saying you want to play a zombie in a Zombie survival rp
hellz yeah, it's a new take on survival horror and sounds great.
I assume the characters we play will not have had the vaccine and will not be immune to the acid rain?
Unless you want to be a ravenous cannibal with the reasoning skills of a neanderthal with a club then no. Or if you have a very bulky hazmat suit.
Acid rain is one of the threats that youŽll be facing.
Yup! acid rain, scarce food, insane survivors, ruthless scavengers, and crazed ex-human creatures :3
Sekai is interested! I figure this is how the world would end...fcking Obama.
Love the interests. I would like to see a few more before starting things.
Night night to all
I'm interested. I have a question though... Does the rain react with only fleshy type stuff, or does it break down petrleum/silicon based things? Or perhaps more specifically what kind of acid is it? Sulfuric? Hydrochloric? Hydroflouric?
It might seem a pointless question, but it's actually pertinent for survival, and a knowledge of basic chemistry could come in handy, like... what base do you need if you are exposed to the acidic rain to neutralize the acid? Or would any base work? Also, the filters... can the acid rain be neutralized by osmotic filters, and/or activated charcoal filters? Do you have to introduce a base into the water to neutralize the acid? If you do, then your water is now a salt water. So from there you're going to have to filter out the salt, which can be filter intensive or time intensive...
As something of a bushcrafter/survivalist irl... this is something I would definitely be thinking about.
