The side world
Hi all, I'm fairly new to this place, and I've never been a GM before, but I just want to get this idea out, I have no plans currently to make a thread about this:
Basically, it's a very slightly future world, maybe 2030, and things like fusion power have been mastered, graphene is in common use, and it seems like everything's great.
But here, from the very beginning, about a third of the earth's population has the power to temporarily enter what is commonly dubbed as "the side world"
This world is just like the normal one, except about a tenth of the people who can get there in the first place are able to do superhuman things which would be physically impossible in the real world, owing to some different laws of physics in this world, mainly only ones which apply to humans.
Scientists have been able to decrypt what makes this world tick in the same way that they have our world, but not quite everything, as they still are unable to quite understand everything that happens in this world, mainly the super powers.
These powers greatly, from short flight, to mind-reading, but they aren't too over-the-top, like no demolishing buildings with a wave of someone's hand, although some are certainly much more powerful than others.
There are three groups in this world: people just living there, going there to talk to people or whatever they might want to do. Another group is those who seek to make this into a corporate venture. Think about it. Free space to build, sell, and advertise, and they want to tun the entire place into a paradise for business. The third group is the resistance, a group who wish to stop the second group from doing this. They recruit people in the main world to undermine the companies, civilians in the side world, even men and women within the corporations to spy for them. Both side use dirty tactics, hostage-taking, murder, theft, everything they can to get their way of thinking to be the only one. Even the cause of the resistance is questionable owing to their methods mainly, but also they seem radical and uncontrollable, and could become worse if they win.
Well, sorry if it's a bit of a wall of text, but what do you guys think?
