Okay, I've been thinking about Wonderland and all of the legends in it, and I thought it would be amazing to do a Wonderland roleplay! But there's a catch: The stories aren't quite like what we know or remember.
This is going to be based off of Once Upon A Time In Wonderland, a spin-off series of BBC's Once Upon A Time.
You don't have to have watched either, or even read Alice in Wonderland. Just have a basic knowledge, and I can explain anything you want, but it helps to know, and if you don't, it's a good series to watch!
In Once Upon A Time(OUAT), many things are different. Without spoiling too much, everything is bizarre, like Rumpelstiltskin being Captain Hook's "crocodile", and him also killing Cinderella's fairy god mother and helping her go to the ball, at a price. Several things are different, as stated above.
This roleplay will be placed after Alice has died of old age, about ten years later. The Red Queen is still ruling, and depending on what you want, maybe even hunting Alice's decendant(s). The Jabberwocky will be in the land, terrorizing the kingdom, and the JubJub bird is flying over the Tulgey Wood, where the Cheshire cat reigns supreme.
Alice spent her entire life going back and forth from her world to Wonderland, before she finally made her home there. Wonderland was unbalenced, and with the help of her many friends, she stabilized it. Until her death, the Queen was defeated, the land at peace, and everyone happy. However, when the land went into mourning for their ruler, the Queen finally could retake power. That's where we are now.
You can be whoever you want, as long as it fits. Maybe the Mad Hatter, or his son. Maybe the Knave of Hearts, or the Queen herself! The plot will develop with your wants, what the groups wants, and other factors.
Any characters can be yours to play, whether it is one of Captain Hook's crew, a mercenary from Agrabah (the land where Alladin lives), or one of Robin Hood's merry men. Or perhaps a Lost Boy? They can really be from any fairy tale world, and can have all sorts of twists!
There are all of Wonderland's crazy foods to consume, the Queen to trifle with and steal from, or the Bandersnatch and the Jabberwocky to hunt! Or maybe the caterpillar to make deals with that you may regret later? It's up to you!
Also, I'd like to mention that you can be classic characters. If you want to be Snow White, go ahead! Malificent, Peter Pan, or even Alladin are all yours to play.
I'll post a character app and a IC page as we get more members, so that's covered.
One last emphasis, your character can be whoever you want. Really, there is no limit to the numerous characters you can create.
This RP will always be open, so feel free to post an app whenever!
Please post this in the OOC page!
Relations: (If your character isn't an original fairy tale, or even is)
Appearance: (description or preffered realistic picture will do)
Powers: (Limit it to either three separate powers or one skill set [things like Robin Hood's aim would be considered a power] Enchnt items are included as a power. If you havd a skill set, you are allowed one item.)
Weaponry: (None enchanted weaponry, if your character has it.)
Personality: (Answer these as your character would.)
1: A man runs past you in the marketplace and steals your wallet. If you give chase, a good Samaritan trips him and he falls alone in an alleyway with you. Your character has your skill sets to dispose of him or do what he wants.
2: A child runs up to you and begs for help. If you follow, he leads you to three adults who try to mug you. A police man walks by without noticing and you can call for help, but it will imprison the four for life.
3: You see a man enter his information at a bank and and accidentally memorize it all, noting that he is a very wealthy man. Simple question: What do you do with that information?
Does your character live in Wonderland or did they move there, born in another land?:
Background: (Include things such as what land they came from if they weren't born in Wonderland, how they got to Wonderland, how they got their powers, and any other important tidbits. [I will allow some obscurity and/or hidden events in your characters past, however at least one paragraph is required for your background])

"Purrfect..right into my trap." I muttered to myself(Yes me, Cheshire that Cat or the Cheshire Cat) I watched the three mice ate the berries below my tree, my napping one, not my scratching one. I was invisible, as I normally was, and my smile was wider than before that cold morning. I dropped down to the forest floor and snatched one of the mice up with my claws. He was different than other mice, as well as his brothers. He had pale eyes...glazed over like a blind man. His fur was white, unlike the other mice of the forest. The mouse could also speak like I! Saying "Brothers help! A monster has snatched me up in his grip!" The other two mice ran away, running into each other and towards the bushes. I popped the head of the mouse into my mouth and crunched it, eating the rest of it whole. "As always the brains are the sweetest." I purred to myself with a devilish grin. I quickly blinked my eyes and I was feet away, in front of the bushes and two blind mice. I slashed my claws over the two mice.... they tasted better than the first.
Maleficent stalked the edges of her cauldron like a wild beast hunting it's prey. She watched as the venomous green liquid inside bubbled and boiled, releasing hisses and puffs of darker green smoke in to the air. In the dark of the room, her face lit up eerily in the glow from her latest concoction and when she smiled she looked creepier still. A cry from the window averted her attention from the cauldron and she looked up, spotting her pet raven, Diablo, perched lightly on the sill. "Ahh Diablo, my sweet. Did you find what I asked for?" a warm smile spread across her face as she addressed her pet, who simply held out a tightly clenched claw for her. She placed her hand underneath and her eyes widened as three small berries fell in to it, rolling neatly in to a small pile in the centre of her palm. "Oh you good boy," her tone was one of praise but it swiftly changed to annoyance as he stayed on the sill, seeking more of her attention, "Now begone! I have work to do." She shooed out the window and watched as he fell a few feet before stretching his wings and gracefully flying in to the forest. Maleficent turned back to her cauldron and dropped the berries in, giggling like a small child as the solution turned a dark blue and hissed some more. "Oh this is going to be just perfect," she cried out to nobody in particular, as often she did when she worked.
Her brew seemed to be ready, and she selected a small glass vial from her selection before scooping some of the liquid in to it. Placing the top back on the vial, she placed it under her robes and stalked out of her room, making her way down from the top of the tower to the castle kitchens, where she located the chef. "There you are," she said menacingly as she stepped out of the shadows, making him jump and drop the tray full of jam tarts he was carrying, "Tut tut chef. Elizabeth will be most displeased at that. You really must be more careful." She chuckled to herself as she walked through the kitchens, placing her hand on a bread tin full of dough waiting to be cooked. "Now listen closely chef, I am going to put something in this dough, and you are going to cook it for me. When it is done, you are to find me immediately and then return here and forget you ever made it. You will tell nobody of this, and if I find out you have...well," she whipped out her staff and pointed it in the direction of a nearby oven, watching as flames suddenly flared up and incinerated the goods that were in it, "You might find yourself tripping in there. Now hurry, you don't have long before Elizabeth comes searching for those tarts." She emptied the vial in to the dough and watched as it was soaked up almost immediately, before returning to her tower and cleaning up the mess she had made.
She didn't have to wait long before the freshly made bread was delivered to her door, still piping hot from its' time in the oven. The chef whimpered as she took it out of his hands and glared at him, daring him to tell another soul what she had asked him to do. She watched as he walked away as fast as he could before she once again left the confines of her tower and made her way to the dungeons. She pushed open the heavy oak doors that separated civilisation from the prisoners, and stood in the dark a while to allow her eyes to adjust. The flames from nearby torches offered little light, but she didn't mind, it gave her a more sinister appearance in the dark. Only one cell was currently occupied, by a thief caught attempting to steal a hefty amount of silver from the castle, but fortunately for Maleficent he was caught and locked up here. He was cowering in the corner as she approached him, crying to himself as often he did, stopping only to look up and search in the dark for his visitor. "Oh you poor, poor thing," Maleficent donned a tone of sympathy as she stepped up to the iron bars, her face eerily lit up in the faint light, "Locked away down here, far from people to hear you, however have you coped?" She reached inside her robes and pulled out the bread, watching as the prisoner suddenly became more interested in her, "Are you hungry?" she whispered to him, "I brought you some bread. Never let it be heard we don't take care of our...guests." Her last word escaped her with a little giggle, but she stifled it before he could hear. "Take it," she called to him, "Take a bite and tell me how sweet it tastes." A grubby hand reached out and snatched the bread from her, before the man ran to the other side of the bread and tore through the crust like a savage beast. Maleficent couldn't help but smile, watching in anticipation of what was about to happen.
Suddenly, the prisoner cried out in severe pain, throwing himself to the floor and writhing in the agony she had bestowed upon him. Another scream escaped him, a mixture of hurt and fear, he had no idea what was happening to him, but she did. She watched with a menacing smile as his body twisted and turned on the floor, the sound of bones breaking and reforming music to her ears. Her teeth glinted cruelly in the dim light as she watched his arms and legs become hairier, his fingers elongate to a fine pointed tip, and his nose begin to protrude from his face. His screams of pain soon turned in to howls, and when the transformation was complete he threw himself against the bars and reached out for her, as if she were his prey. Standing before her was no longer a man, but a dark furred wolf. Her eyes were wide with awe at the sight of him, her mind not quite believing what she had accomplished, but her victory was short lived. The wolf soon fell to the floor and she frowned as she watched the fur disappear and the man's body return to its' original state. She paused, wondering why this had happened, but then she remembered, werewolves only transform on the night of a full moon. Her potion had simply brought about his first transformation, the first of many to come. Maleficent cackled cruelly, a spine chilling cackle that echoed throughout the castle, impossible to be ignored by any who lived there.
The Red Queen heard Mal's cackle and let out a groan.
" I Wonder what concoction she's up to now. Hope it won't end being trivial like last time."
she thought as she leaned on her left hand.
With Alice gone there wasn't anyone left that was a serious threat.
Sitting up a bit up straight, she sent a few tentacles to where her minions where held. The tentacles wrapped themselves around a group of idle card guards, almost squeezing the life out of them- if they had any. Then ,each of them started walking towards the gate of the castle - a squirming flesh pink tentacle coming out of their left eye socket. The tentacles were the Queen's way of controlling her minions.
She then summoned a half stone-half tentacle table in front of her throne and placed open an old parchment. It was a map of wonderland. She then circled a certain area with one of her large red fingers, the action alerting her minions about where they were supposed to go.
It's time to overtake Wonderland...All of it."
she said quietly , her voice coming out as a satisfied whisper.
She then asked for Mal, wondering whether her new experiment, whatever it was, could be an aid for her plan or not.
Before the messenger could reaxch Malificent, a small form emerged from the shadows. "That poor man… What did you do?" Ran looked up at Mal, his face not showing really any pity, but instead a small shadow, flickering in his eyes, its blue and gold flames flickerig, threatening to burn out of control. It was an scary illusion until you realized that it wasn't an mirage. That the rabbit didn't have irises, he had an inferno.
He leaned against a damp stone wall and crossed one leg behind the other at the calf before reversing it and standing up, wiping the grim off of his jacket with a look of distain. He peered around the bleakly lit hallway, his face displaying a look of disgust.
Ran idly pulled out his fob watch and began twirling it in a circle.
Not far from the Queens castle, there was a Hatter. There was absolutely nothing special about him, he was simply an ordinary hatter who worked to make a living off of his merchandise. However, among his cart of hats, there was one particular hat which was different from the rest. While they all came in different shapes and sizes, this one was a brilliant top hat with ride lining and a soft black velvet and a purple interior. What made this hat different was the fact that this hatter had not made this particular piece of clothing. He had found in on the side of the road on a dark rainy day, and it was surprisingly unharmed. The man began to work on his newest creation when he heard a thump, then a bang. Turning, he frowned.
"Who's mukin' about?" He shouted, and waited for a reply. Suddenly the hat jumped off the shelf and began to spin, slowly.... Then faster and faster and faster until a deep red smoke began to pour out of it.
'What in the name of saint-?!" The man shouted when the smoke suddenly cleared and in the hats place sat a man, with the top hat alighted on top of his head.
"Evening!" The man greeted in a strange accent. "Mind tellin' me where I am? Or, for that matter, when I am?"
The poor old man simply stared in wonder, confused as to where this strangely dressed visitor had come from. "Who.... Who are you?"
"Well. That's an odd question, isn't it? You obviously know who I am, as I am right in front of you. Well, no, that isn't true. You would have to get to know me to know who I truly am. Perhaps it's something else you're looking for? A name perhaps?"
"A name would be appreciated."
"Well, in that case! Names are such a tricky thing... Well, I don't know my name I was born with, but I know the name I chose! Most call me the Hatter! Some even go far enough to call me mad!"
With this the man's eyes widened in shock, and he took a step back. "You're.... You're the Mad Hatter?" He said in disbelief. "You died!"
"Not dead, I merely... Disappeared. For a little while. A vacation, you might say... A vacation in a hat. They are certainly the best kind!"
The man started moving for the door. "You... Stay away from me! I'll leave! I swear! Just leave me alone!" With this he was gone and out the door, running at top speed. The Hatter frowned and shrugged. Perhaps his reputation had preceded him, though he thought after all these years it would have faded... Perhaps it hadn't been as long as he thought. The Hatter followed through the door and found that the Hatters cottage was in a forest, surrounded by trees.
"Ah, trees! I love trees! I always feel like they're watching me though..."
Things were quite normal in the outer foliage of the Whispering Woods, the daylight creeping through the trees in miniature spotlights. The ankle tall grass rustled as a pair of old boots slinked through it, their owner’s watchful and careful eyes darting with worry.
Talia was on edge, one tan hand gripping her flintlock while the other was clutched around a basket of berries. Suddenly a crunch sounded into the air, the young woman freezing with a look of sudden dread. She was sure she was being followed by something big, like something of monstrous proportions.
A fierce and hungry growl pervaded the air, nearby and bloodcurdling in sound. The sound rang the warning bells in Talia’s head, the pirate gripping her weapon tighter before shifting the basket and moving quickly into a sprint.
Fear and adrenaline runs through her veins, the beast practically snipping at her heels as she darted quickly through the woods with a purpose. If she could get to the tree that housed a nice sized abode in its branches, that’s where she’d be safe.
Finally it was in sight, the building held aloft by the limbs of a massive tree. The house was a quaint little wooden cottage, the wooden structure almost blending into the tree it was built onto. Windows were littered over the building’s exterior, meant to give it natural light and there was a small one room over the main floor. This was what Miss Jones considered home now after leaving the pirating life.
Talia ran faster, her legs pumping powerfully to push her towards sanctuary. With a desperate leap she reached the ladder, her gun long put away into its holster and the basket of berries hooked to her elbow. With the strength of someone well aquatinted with climbing the treacherous rigging of a ship she scaled the rope ladder, pulling herself out of the reach of the monster below. “Hah!! Maybe next time!!” she yelled cockily as she reached the high up deck of her home. A smile wound its way onto the girl’s face as she turned away and headed inside with her basket of berries, the only ingredient left to find for her muffins and jam. She sat the basket down on the small table in the kitchen. “No more monsters for me today.” She chimes happily, praying that it would be so. Talia was tired of almost being eaten by these big beasts that wandered wonderland but there was nothing she could do about it.
A never ending oasis. That is where the Djinn decided to place him. Aladdin had asked for the ultimate heist, not travel to a land so abnormal that he lacked the means to comprehend it! Strange beasts lurked and even stranger plants grew. It had been days since his arrival and nothing resembling familiar soil could be found. Damp ground and cold wind was all there was to find. Still his newly acquired carpet come cloak served just as well keeping the cold out as it did flying. Alright, I'm going to have to find some sort of civilization so I can find something worth my time here. Gold, jewels, spices... anything!
Removing his cloak Aladdin splayed it out before him where it looked to all the world to have settled on an invisible table, half a meter off the ground. Climbing on and crossing his legs Aladdin got comfortable and had the carpet rise. Higher and higher he rose, narrowly avoiding twisting branches while the sturdy carpet simply brushed by them without a tear. Above the tree-line was little better than below, there was barely any sign of civilization. Turning around, Aladdin saw windows, more than that someone had built a house upon the branches of the tree. An odd sight to be sure, but a house surely meant someone lived there, or lived if they were no longer of this world. People also happened to mean food and dried meats could only last so long before they ran out. As if his stomach read his mind, it started grumbling. Well that settles it, I'm off to be a beggar. With something vaguely resembling a plan and a buried pride Aladdin soon found himself drifting towards what he very much hoped was a hospitable reception.
I sat apon the tree, invisible of course, and stared down at the figure and purred to myself "Could it be? Madness himself? I figured the Jabberwocky ate him up! How much I hate that creature and its horrid queen." I remembered after the battle those years ago I called out for all to hear The Queen is dead and gone. Well, at least she's gone... for now. Long live Alice! Long live Wonderland.. I was right! Most doubted what I said and I was right! Now Alice is dead, the hatter returned, and a hairball is stirring in my throat! Blinking my eyes, I appeared on the Hatters hat and I curled up on the hat saying "Awww Hatter, your back. You havent aged a bit......Are you over your silly hat yet? I would love to take it from you."
The Hatter couldn't help but jump a bit as he felt his hat become suddenly heavier. Despite all the years it had been, the crazy man still remembered the feeling of the cat alighting itself upon his head.
"Why Chesh! I thought I had made it clear, you're never getting my hat! After all, it's a family heirloom!" With this he gave a slightly crazed smile. "Still, it's good to see you again! How've things been? I left for a bit and when I came back it would seem things might have changed a bit. Have you seen Alice recently? She made such great tea..." He missed the girl and her brave spirit. After the two had teamed up they had made a marvelous pair! Oh, the adventures they had gone on....
