Evangelion: Impact Averted

It all starts in End of Evangelion, when Rei/Lilith is forming. While doing so, Shinji is sitting there, thinking he's worthless as a pilot, as none of this would have happened had he defeated the MP-Evas alongside Asuka, and wants a second chance to prove himself. Rei/Lilith takes this suggestion very literally, and revives ADAM, who promptly goes and creates more embryonic Angelic life forms. Creating so many at once weakens him to the point where ADAM reverts to embryonic form himself, and he crashes on the moon. Rei/Lilith repairs the Geofront and locks herself back in Terminal Dogma willingly. Third Impact ends with no visible effect on the human race.

Flash forward thirty years later. Shinji is the commander of a rebuilt NERV, and a new wave of ADAM-derived Angels have arrived. The Dead Sea Scrolls have changed, and Shinji calls in new pilots to Tokyo-3.
