    The Labyrinth

    IMPOTANT NOTICE TO PARTICIPANTS

My uncle had an accident a few days ago and broke his C4, C6, and T3 vertebra, so I will be going to Montana to help him with work often, and I may or may not have internet access. I will attempt to get the OOC up and setting posted before I leave next, probably Wednesday (it's Tuesday for me) so I may not get it up before I have to go. My apologies for the inconvenience.

Well, a couple of months ago I typed up a setting for a dungeon-style RP. It is a pre-medieval fantasy RP set in Knossus, Greece. I will post the requirements here after the setting.

It's the time of sacrifice for the people of Knossos. Once a year, they would sacrifice several people to the Minotaur, who's home was the labyrinth of Crete. By drugging the food and water of those to be victimized, they would drag them deep into the labyrinth and leave them, only finding their own way out via ancient runes that only they recognized. The runes would be impossible to decipher for those not taught by Daedalus, and impossible to follow in a line as they branched out in several different directions at many points. Unknown to even the people of Knossus, there was more to fear in the labyrinth than even the Minotaur, as many vile and evil creatures would gather in the labyrinth for it's darkness, it's bleakness, and it's yearly supply of food. Many corridors were lit by everlasting flames, though many were completely dark, and were home to creatures known as Grues. The labyrinth is nothing more than an extremely complex tunnel system, designed and built by Daedalus with the help of only a few laborers. It sits below the city of Knossus on the Isle of Crete. This is where our story begins. The newest sacrifices, as always, equipped with their preferred weapons were left together in a room deep within the labyrinth. Their weapons and equipment was piled near them against a wall of this room, lit by torches. There was one torch in each of the four corners of the room, which was otherwise bare. (Please note that "Grue" isn't the correct term, merely the simplest to breifly describe them.)

I full well know that this isn't as great as most of you thought, but at least now you see why I put so many restrictions up. It wouldn't be any fun if there was no challenge, right?

Requirements/Rules: As a Pre-Medieval fantasy, I expect semi-realistic characters. More specifically, no new-age, high level magic and or swords from the other side of the world. I mean, sure, you can have a standard medieval sword or dagger, but if you plan on using the "Almighty Katana of Burning Death" or whatever the hell else you'll call it, I'm going to ban you. Not meaning you can't use katanas, or the average weapon, just don't embue it with powers that wouldn't have been developed at the time. Because this is a realatively odd time, I am willing to accept medieval based characters with some restrictions and modifications, as will be described below.

Weapons: They didn't have the technology to produce enough heat to melt silver, steel, and rarely iron. It's the bronze age. If you're going to use a weapon made of re-forged steel with magic runes that make it stronger than dragon hide, I'm going to disallow it. Also, as this is a true dungeon-crawl, you may be in tight spaces, so, while I am not disallowing large weapons (so long as your character can logically wield said weapon), you might want to have a side-arm prepared in the possibility that the space is too small to use your weapon effectively, ie., a bow or javelin, dagger, etc.

As with weapons, armors need not be entirely realistic to the period, but please, Mithril Crystalate? It, is, the, Bronze Age! Iron armor at the very most, and even that would be something only emporers and kings could afford.

Magics are welcome, but as I've previously stated, no high tier, "endoftheworldimmapwnyousohard" magics. Basic elemental magic, understanding the language of animals, even slight transformation/illusion magic is okay, but something like "Supernova" or "Lightning Sword", or any other highly refined magical skill will be disallowed.

As for fire and light magic; This is allowed, but due to the conditions of the setting, will be restricted to seven of your own posts per use, with a minimum cooldown time of thirteen of your own posts. Exceptions to this, would be any of you who would abuse that rule. Say, someone who goes, "Oh, my wait is up, I can use it again because the rules said I can. *uses the magic for seven turns, waits thirteen more turns and repeats*" That will rersult in a warning, and then your character will be eaten by a Grue. /Seriousface. Now, that warning aside, I have no problem with using the skill, and then waiting for the cooldown period to be over and then using it again, so long as you do not abuse the privilage by doing this over and over and over and over. Three in a row would be the maximum times I would accept before disabling the skill for a certain amount of time.

Also, one more thing: Characters are limited to slightly above human physical capabilities, meaning, no superhuman strength, no "I can beat The Flash in a race!" kind of speed, no, "I can see in a room with less light than a black hole!", or anything similar. Slightly increase speed, strength, vision, etc. are acceptable, but if you choose to have a heightened sense/ability, please limit yourself to two. Certain races will be granted certain liberties, depending on what they are and what their natural skills are. If our character is one, I will tell you.
Lastly, and possibly most importantly, post length is essential in this RP. Now, by that I do not mean it has to be extremely long, but bear this in mind; If a post is aimed at you, please try to respond with an approximately equal post. If you can't post equal to the eight paragraphs of fluff anf flourish that the poster above you did, that's alright. So long as you've responded to the important details, nobody will have a problem. Also, I ask that you type a minimum of two-three paragraphs for your intro, but one is acceptable. I WILL NOT ACCEPT SPEED OR ONE-LINE RPERS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. I will however, allow the occasional one line response during, and only during, character development phases and dialogue sequences.

Now, as I will be GMing, I ask that you post character sheets for approval, and await my approval. If any questions are asked, I will answer ASAP, and if I am not going to be here, I will either; A: Put my friend Mvm900 in charge, B: Allow an extended character development/dialogue phase, or C: pause the RP and either abandon it, depending on how it is going or simply wait to start until I return.

Thank you for reading, and I will do my best to check this as often as possible.

Edti: If you do not wish to reveal you entire characterto the other RPers, simply post the Name, Race, Gender, Appearance, and anything else that should be obvious. After doing so, you may PM me a character sheet for approval.

Edit two: If you are one of those people who are going to just drop off the map after posting once or twice, don't join. If you join, and you do without giving me at least a heads up, I will make it my mission to make sure everyone knows that you're one of the droppers. All it does for you is show your utter lack of respect for me, my RP, the people in the RP, and all those who lost a spot because you were there first.

    Edit Three: Co-GMs will be; Ashur101, Mvm900, and TheMadHatter/Markanos

I will accept a maxium of two more entries, and will make the IC thread once characters have been approved and I'm back from Montana.

Wait, when you say 'Race' what do you mean? Athenian, Cretan or something else?

When I say ''race'', i simply mean the species you would choose. such as:

    Race: Human
    Subraceoptional) Athenian

    Race x
does not have to be human though, so long as iit fits the descriptoin.

Also, I am so terribly sorry for my horrendous grammar and spekling. ... I'm stuck using my mom,s Lg Chocolate for web acess while I'm in Montana
