    Pokemon: The Elite IC

On a private island off the coast of the Kanto, a wealthy investor formed an place that none ever expected to see. After losing some of the greatest Trainers to age and war, the Pokemon World fell back into peace. The investor made an entire island dedicated to the completed training and competition of the world's greatest trainers in the world. From every corner and every level of authority they came to be interviewed and now tested to be part of the most fearsome Elite group ever formed to this date.

The island had apartments for rent, hotels for vacation, and festivals going on through every street. Pokemon were freely traveling, some that just lived there through the streets. It was a beautiful and comfortable day, especially as the first round of the tournaments were now going to begin. There were 9 stadiums in total, each able to change their fields to meet the needed expectations. In the center stadium there was just a blank fighting ring made of marble blocks, raised 2 yards off the ground. Each of the additional stadiums were positioned each cardinal point and demi-cardinal point, surrounding the central stadium. The central stadium had eight jumbotrons for the spectators, each showing a different stadium.

The stadiums' refs were now swarming onto the separate fields to get ready for judging the battles. As they all went out, the intercom throughout the island made the sound of a Fearow cry, then a voice started to talk. "Welcome to all of those that have come to the Elite Island for both merriment and serious challenges. These next few days will be the toughest for some, and the most amazing for all. Be well rested, keep your head, and enjoy your Pokemon adventures."

With that the intercom cut short and all the refs were in their positions. In the central stadium on of the referees, dressed in a find white suit and wearing sunglasses to shade his eyes, came onto the floor and took a microphone that worked to all of the stadiums at once. "Yes! Welcome once again to Elite Island's competition for the new Elite Eight of the International Pokemon League! We are all very excited to get the tournament started, and hopefully the surprises we have in store for you will make this the greatest experience of your life! Now, let me tell you about where each of our competitors will be battling!

The South Stadium will be Bug vs. Water on the Swamp field!
The South-East Stadium will be Steel vs. Dragon on the Junkyard field!
The East Stadium will be Fire vs. Fighting on the Volcanic Crater field!
The North-East Stadium will be Flying vs. Psychic on the Mountain field!
The North Stadium will be Ground vs. Ghost on the Cemetery field!
The North-West Stadium will be Poison vs. Rock on the Jungle field!
The West Stadium will be Electric vs. Grass on the Forest field!
The South-West Stadium will be Dark vs. Ice on the Frigid Cavern field!

Now that we know where everyone will be, let's get the fighters out here!"

The trumpets played and all sixteen competitors were let onto each of their fields, the battles ready to begin.

    -Ignatius-

As the lineups for the first set of battles were announced, Ignatius smiled, cracking his fireproof gloved fingers in anticipation, before turning to address one of the other two occupants of the room.

"Fighting Types, eh? Looks like we've got a toughie on our hands, aye Uriel?"

In response, the target of his addressal, a One-and-a-Half-Meter Tall Fire Moth, turned it's stubby head to look at it's trainer.

Letting out a cry that was halfway between a shriek and a sigh, Uriel the Volcarona shot her trainer a withering look.

Having been his first pokemon, and a permanent member of his team for twenty years, Uriel had a very strong bond with Ig.

However, this bond didn't do much to change the Volcarona's naturally grouchy persona, and while she spared her trainer from the worst of her species's irritability on account of mutual respect, she still had no qualms with acting permanently grumpy towards him, perfectly epitomized through the 'Shut It' look she was shooting her trainer.

Being used to this, Ig merely chuckled, patting the Fire Moth on her head (To her great displeasure), before turning his attention to the last occupant of the room, a Blaziken.

Said Blaziken was currently too absorbed in staring at the matchup chart with a 'HELL YES' expression, it's fiery blood (And literal fire) flaring up as it realized that it was up against an. Entire. Team. Of. Fighting. Types.

As his Blaziken emitted a cry that sounded suspiciously like 'Hell Yeeeah', Ig just sighed, shaking his head at the Fire Chicken's over the top Blood Knight antics, before turning his attention back to the screen.

Since the information told him that his first match would be starting any second now, he just reached into his pocket, pulling out a pokeball.

Pointing it towards the Blaziken, a beam of red light blasted out onto it, it's entire bodymass converting into energy, which joined the red beam as it was pulled back into the disproportionately tiny ball.

Blaziken made no resistance, knowing exactly where it would be going soon afterwards.

That done, Ig got up and made his way over to the exit of the waiting room, Uriel's wings beginning to flit as she took flight after him.

Entering the alley leading to the arena, the hopeful fire master took his last steps as a regular trainer...

(OOC: sorry for doing arena post from, this will be the lead up to the arena one)

Kayde was excited to be involved in an event such as this. Even being considered for a position in the world's top 8 was astounding. But now that I'm here, may as well take it all the way to the top, he thought to himself. Signing in at the facility, he was directed to a private locker room. Fancy wasn't really his style, but at least the rooms were simple. Before making any checks around the room, a small ball of fuzz rustled on his shoulder. Smiling, Kayde stroked the little ones head as the form of an emolga streched itself out. Rather than returning him, Kayde released all his other pokemon, his eelektross and magnezone having slight difficulty in the mildly cramped space, retreating closer to the ceiling by levitation to find a comfier position.

"I know that no matter what happens out there, you're all going to do great, and what matters is that we are challenged, and we make sure that win or lose, we give them a taste of what we're really made of. And Squire," he spoke out to rally his pokemon, notioning to the emolga when mentioning squire, "I don't want you throwing your any berries you find at them to give them a taste, those are for us."

It seemed almost as if the other 5 pokemon were laughing at the joke, even the steely magnezone. Happy with the results of the talk, Kayde returned all 6 as the door to the arena opened up.

Summer sat in the locker room hating every second of it. "this place... so arteficial..." he said.

on the other side of the locker room, Robert looked at the strange girl. "so... you alright?" he asked. she simply stared at him and took out a pokeball, throwing it to the floor and Breloom burst out of it. "ok, i get it, not a talker." he said. she took out a flute and began playing a soft tune on it. the Breloom then sat down next to her. "ok..."

"how do you treat your pokemon?" she asked.

    "what?" he asked.

"your pokemon, how do you treat them?" she asked.

"i love my pokemon... a lot." replied Robert. he then took out a pokeball and threw it to the floor, Rhyhorn burst out and jumped on Robert licking him. "ok, get down, you weigh almost a ton." he said, the little rhinoceros then got off of him and sat next to Summer. "wow, he normally doesn't like new people." he said.

"that is because i treat nature with dignity and respect." she replied.

"ok, you stop slutting up to her, we've got a match soon."

"and i have a match now." she said getting up and putting Breloom back into his ball. and she walked away.

The young lady sat there on a wooden bench with her back leaning on an adjacent wall while reading her father's field journal. He sat there, lost in the inky scratches where he wrote down profuse and sloppy notes to himself that she had almost memorized. Now that he was dead, this is the one thing she could cherish and hold on to. His voice rang through her head as she read the findings and observations of the many Pokémon encounters they had together. The insight was so profound she had a hard time understanding some of it though she had read it several times over.

There was some blue ink over the black and of different hand writing. This was of her own revelations and findings of her father's work. Decrypting the writings became a habitual thing for her. The only things she had been able to decipher has been the more common-sensical items. Though she can understand the underlying meaning of most of the content, there are those things she doesn't fully comprehend.

One such statement was '...most Pokemon never want to evolve... ." There was little evidence of this claim and the messy and illegible graphs and charts made the proof unattainable to her for now.

She felt somewhat insignificant within the group. Being one of the youngest and, obviously, less-experienced, she began to wonder why she was here. But a caption she read through the journal boosted her confidence:

There was one quote she'd lived by, however. “There’s some strange thing I’ve yet to understand within the relationship between a Pokémon and his trainer. It seems that, regardless of skill level or the individual power of the Pokémon themselves, the dedication of both Trainer and Pokémon can overpower one with respectively more skill and who’s Pokémon are more powerful than the prior.”

Her concentration was broken when she fixed the Fuze Point Bracelet given to her as a symbol of her rank as a Bug Trainer. It was a yellowish green and was thin other than the points on the jewelry where the Fuze Points would be shown. It became bulbous at these spots. The under-side of her wrist was a mesh-like material that resembled a spun web. She liked the simplicity but not what it regulated during the battle. Her reliance on the combination of move-sets was crucial in her battle-style. Her mind would quickly race through other options she had while having the 6 points predetermined for certain Pokemon in her team. These options weren't much to her liking.

She sighed lightly before exiting the room when the trainers were called out for the first round of battles. While walking leisurely to the Southern Arena, she'd pass other hopeful trainers who were battling each other informally. This would be interrupted purely by her presence. Either from awe or being unimpressed, which was so for one such boy.

"Oh, it's just ... the Bug trainer," he'd said.
She wasn't about to take a lip from a prepubescent boy and wasn't hesitant in giving him her harsh retorts. "Well, I didn't get here because of nothing. And don't you think they'd neglect the Bug-Type entirely if they were all too weak. I think you'll see what you don't know when you watch me win," she said with a misplaced sense of security over the matter. But she had to make her point and sound confident.

The crowds roared when she entered and she cringed a little but chills of excitement ran up her back. The thick air of the arena slowed her down physically. She walked to the center of the Arena on a temporary platform for the humans to avoid the muddy and inconsistent Arena floor where the Head Referee and her opponent would be. She hadn't heard who it was over the intercom but would find out soon enough. It mattered little to her anyway.

    -Khristof Harrison-
Khris shivered with excitement as he fired up his Ice team. He was always confident in his ability. This Dark-type trainer shouldn't be too difficult for him. He'd have to watch his Jynx throughout the battle, though. He let his Pokémon free until the battle actually began and wandered around, looking at the other trainers who’d gathered at such an event as he didn't want to be cooped up in the Locker Room. This was going to be a massive competition that thousands of people were going to see, but it only sparked his determination even more.

He'd arrive sooner than his opponent to the field as he was rearing to go yesterday. When he entered the arena, his breath solidified and rose above him. A shiver ran through him since he wore only casual attire. But it felt like home to him and he was glad to see parents and siblings among the massive amounts of other spectators.

The two trainers when right to their podiums that were about five feet off the sleek and flat terrain other than the landed icebergs which littered the field.

Sitting on a wooden bench in their little locker room, Kleine and Eiserne enjoyed some peaceful family time together. A Swellow sat on the older girl's lap, enjoying her servings of Berries and Pokeblocks. The younger girl appeared to be rather excited, judging from the way she moved around on her seat. The older one, on the other hand, wasn't as visibly enthusiastic, but she seemed to be looking forward for the battles to come.

"I can't believe we're going to participate in the Elite Eight competition! I'm so excited I think I'm going to Explode!" She squealed with a loud 'Boom', causing Swellow to turn to her and gave her a 'are-you-okay' look with a raised brow. Giggling softly, Kleine patted the Swallow Pokemon's head. "I'm sorry... I'm just excited." She replied with a soft smile.

A beeping noise from their Fuze Point Bracelet alerted them of their incoming battle. "Ah! Maybe my opponent is waiting..." Kleine mused and looked up at her sister. "Good luck with your battle, sister! I wish I could go and cheer for you, but I have my own battle too." The young girl wrapped the taller woman in a strong hug, which Eiserne returned with a warm embrace and a gentle pat to the Water Trainer's head. "Good luck..." She replied to her before the two of them were forced to break the hug and left for their respective battles, Swellow making herself comfortable on Eiserne's shoulder.

Mike released Drapion from her pokeball as he waited in the locker room. He glanced at the match-up list again as he paced. "We're against Rock in the Jungle," He told his partner pokemon. She growled quietly and butted him with her head. "No, I have no doubt we'll win but we could have used a better environment." He jumped out of the way as she went to headbutt him again and laughed. "Okay, okay I'll stop being negative. At least they won't have much of an environment advantage either." At this his FP bracelet vibrated and he glanced at it to see that he needed to leave for his match. His FP was designed to match his type and the creator had done a very good job. It was skin tight and covered his whole hand like a glove. It was dark purple in color and had a touch screen on the back of the hand that served a variety of purposes, such as an alarm clock. The fingers ended in claws which proved useful for navigating various environments though made hand shakes awkward which is why he wore it on his left hand.

He walked with Drapion out into the streets of Elite Island and released the rest of his pokemon. Gengar jumped into his shadow immediately and Tentacruel into the canal which ran along the street. Rather then a pep talk Mike simply said "Our opponents are Rock so it's our job to crush them." Although his voice was calm, his pokemon knew him well enough to realize how important this fight was to him and they roared as loudly as they were able. They followed him as he walked to the arena, Tentacruel returning to his pokeball when the water ran out. Though he could walk on land he preferred not to as it slowed him down and hurt his pride. However, even he came out of his pokeball when Mike reached the door to their Arena. They stood as a team and as the huge door swung open they strode forward towards their destiny as one.

Zwei sighed as Lucario continued to hum in front of the group, helping them calm down before the battle. Lucario and Zwei sat back to back while the other five sat in a pentagon shape facing them. Before their largest battles they would always meditate together, feeling a synchrony that was rare and valued between trainers and Pokemon. Lucario, his first and most precious Pokemon, was with him at the Fighting Dojo in Saffaron City, both trying to make their own way. Zwei was to skinny and frail while Lucario, as a Roilu, only had a preference for Special Attacks. no one understood either of them, therefor their value to the Dojo was next to nothing. When they found each other at rock bottom, the two trained and began a journey to better themselves and every Pokemon that joined them. Heracross was found in a random tree beating down Pincers, Machamp joined them after losing to them in the semifinals in the Mach 1 Grand Prix, and all the others came to him in unique ways. Their group, insignificant to most, was slowly able to gather together before facing their Dojo and winning. It was there that Hitmonchan was added to the team, and the team became the perfect balance of all that he needed.

As they sat in the silence the call was made for them. With a deep intake of breath Zwei and Lucario stood up simultaneously. "Okay everyone. Lets get the party started." he said, returning them all one at a time. As he did, they sent their words of encouragement right before. "Hera!" "Chaaaaamp!" "Chan!" "Poli." "Ade, ade!"

Lucario was of course saved for last. Turning to face his partner, he held out the Pokeball. Looking at it, Lucario shook his head, as Zwei expected. With a grin the two walked out toward the entrance, feeling the heat lightly from there. As they passed the listing of trainers, he noticed that he was facing a Fire Type. This made Zwei cringe for a moment. "Great. We face a fire type and we're already dealing with heat issues? That’s faaaaaantastic." he muttered to the chuckle of Lucario.

    -Damian-

Leaning against the wall of his locker room, Damian allowed himself a small smirk as he saw the first round matchups. Steel versus Dragon, eh? Perfect. He got to fight against the type he hated most in the first round. The man's satisfaction only grew as he saw the battleground that the arena would take place in. A metal-filled junkyard would only benefit his Steel types.

"Guess what? We're up against a Dragon trainer this round. In a junkyard. Need I say any more?" Damian asked to his Pokemon confidently, smiling when he received cheers and cries in response. "We've beaten Lance before. We know how to take this guy. Dragons are one-trick ponies, attacking with nothing but pure power. You fight one, you've fought them all."

With that, Damian recalled all of his Pokemon to their Pokeballs, except for Aggron. The Iron Armor Pokemon preferred the open air to the confines of the Pokeball, and Damian was happy to oblige his oldest friend. The duo proceeded to exit the locker room, stepping into the street. Both of them began to walk towards the southeast stadium, Damian being recognized by some due to the gray Fuze Bracelet on his arm. Halfway there, the pair were stopped by a female voice in the crowd.

"Damian!" The dark-haired man whirled around, desperately praying that the voice wasn't Jessica. Damn it, he thought he'd lost her back in Kanto! As it turned out, the voice belonged to a dark-haired girl clad in a red dress, appearing to be around seventeen years of age. Recognizing her instantly, Damian's features shifted into a soft smile and he went to embrace his younger sister.

"Michelle!" Damian smiled, releasing his sister from the hug. "What are you doing here?"

"I came to watch you compete, of course." The teenager said with a grin. "And your Aggron's gotten so big!" Michelle noted, hugging her old friend, and the Pokemon reciprocated. Damian smiled at the sight, before a disconcerting thought came to him.

"...Does Father know you're here?" He asked, suddenly frowning at the mention of the man.

Michelle shook her head. "No, he thinks I'm visiting friends in Johto. In any case, I should get to the stands. I'll be cheering for you!" With a wave and a smile, the girl left, heading towards the spectator's entrance in the southeast stadium.

"Leave me a second to say bye, why don't you..." Damian remarked with a sigh. "Well, we better get going. Don't want to be late."

And with that, trainer and Pokemon entered the stadium through the participant's entrance, and hopefully, to victory.

    -Samuel-

A middle-aged man sat on a bench in his locker room, calmly reading a book while the various Psychic types around him meditated. When the matchups were announced, Samuel briefly took note of his before nodding in satisfaction.

"Psychic versus Flying. An even type matchup." He noted out loud. "Everyone ready?" Samuel asked his Pokemon, receiving several telepathic agreements in his mind. "Very well, then. Alakazam, come. We'll discuss strategy along the way." Recalling all but Alakazam to their Pokeballs, Samuel exited the locker room, the Psychic Pokemon floating alongside him in a meditative position. Along the way to the stadium, trainer and Pokemon began discussing strategy on dealing with Flying types in a telepathic conversation, Alakazam reading his trainer's thoughts and relaying his own.

Areodactyl flinched his eyes as he heard Heath's impacts. As part of his training, Heath kept himself close with his Pokemon. Right now he had Kabutops, his first pokemon he got from a fossil, Areodactyl, who he got from some Old Amber, and Tyranitar out. While Areodactly watched Heath, Kabutops sharpened his own claws againts one another. Tyranitar, however, had the hardest job. Keeping its rock hard stomach facing out, taking punches from Heath's hardened hands. It was a way to train with his pokemon and he saw it bringing them closer in his own opinion.

Softening the blow before completely stopping, Heath gave Tyranitar, Areodactyl and Kabutops a nod and then returning them to their pokeballs. He preferred to walk alone out onto the course to test out the sights and feel of the field. It should be an interesting experience, no question.
