    Skyship Pirates

The captain stood just before the bow of her ship, one boot up on the bow the other on the deck. Cool winds blew back her hazelnut locks and her eyes remained fixed straight ahead. Unblinking, despite the wind. The low humming of the engines and billowing of the sails were music to Reya's ears, as it spelled potential. And adventure. The ship's name was the Legacy, and what a legacy it would leave behind in Reya's log. The ship had a rather small crew, only thirty score so far. But she hoped to recruit more as the journey went on.

Reya turned her head when she saw a school of skyfish swim through the air. A large net was discharged from the side of the Legacy, and it snared many of the fish. Her crew reeled in the net of fish, soon to be prepared by the ship's cook. Reya could just smell that cooked yellowtail.. She turned back to the skies ahead, pondering about what the rest of her crewmates were up to right now.

Daniel sat on a barrel on the deck, cleaning his rifle for the third time today. Some of the passing crew gave him annoyed looks and called him lazy under their breath before going back to their duties, the former Imperial elite did his best to ignore them. He was a soldier, not a sailor, and because of that he doesn't know what to do on a ship other than to prepare for any kind of combat.

He sighed as he finished cleaning his weapon, wondering what kind of mess he's gotten himself into by joining pirates. Pirates! The one thing an Imperial soldier should never be... But what else can he do. He shook his head clear of these thoughts, they would get him nowhere. Daniel inspected his rifle again... It looked like it could use another clean, so he shrugged and started over again.

The small room was filled with the rumbling laughter of burly men, the opponent lay wasted on the ale stained floor. Not the best place to be, needed a good cleaning it did, I should probbaly get one of the young'uns to wash it up, Tom thought to himself, smiling as he placed down his empty mug.
"Bloody lightweight aye?" he remarked smugly to his fellow gunners, who were passing money around after the results of the contest became apparent. No one outdrank Tommo, no one.

Lurching around the side of the table where the mugs lay, knocking over the ale barrel in the process, Tom crouched down next to the young gunner.
"Now you know what happens next kid" he leaned over and slung the man over his shoulder, before dumping him face first into a barrel, filled to the brim with freezing water. Once again, loud jeers around the small room as the men took in the spectacle. The man pulled his head out of the barrel, spluttering and cursing. Tom gave him a hard pat on the back, before wandering out of the room and back onto the lower deck. The room was situated right in the middle of the gunners deck, as cannons lined either side.

Walking over to his favourite cannon, A 12 pounder with perfect alignment, he peered out through the small porthole, taking in the sights. Hell of a view, he thought to himself, as a shoal of sky fish flew by. Look at me, taking in the sights and what not, getting soft I am, need a challenge. He rested his hands on the large cannon, as if to settle its own lust for blood.
    "Soon, baby."

Rya stood there in the kitchen looking at what all she had to cook with; Oranges, eggs, biscuits, pickles. Rya pushed the jar of pickles away, she hated pickles. She then looked at cooking ingredients, flour, rice, (she buys this herself) baking soda, she continued looking all over the kitchen taking note of every last thing. She pulled out some paper and a pencil and began to take inventory on all the food. If there was one thing that made Rya angry, it was people who stole food.

Once finished logging everything, she was about to get started when she heard the door open and two men came in throwing some fish on a nearby table. "Hmph. At least they didn't put it on the floor this time." She walked over and inspected the fish, when she cooked, Rya always cooked better when she was happy, when she was annoyed or angry, she would make gruel for the whole ship, (except for the captain and a select few) She was feeling a bit annoyed from the interruption. So she decided to make a special soup that was gruel with fish chunks in it. With a barrel of sliced oranges.

After about an hour of cooking and preparation, she called in two boys, their names Flip and Jip. Twins they were and it was almost impossible to tell the difference between the two. Flip came dashing in, his brown hair all a mess with his blue pants and green shirt, he was not hard to miss. Jip in his blue shirt and green pants came in shortly after accidentally stumbling into Flip knocking the two over. The two wuickly untangled themselves and spotted the prepared food. They knew exactly what Rya wanted them to do when they saw the food. "We will have it right out Miss Rya." Flip walked over and grabbed the large pot while Jip grabbed the barrel of oranges. Attached to the twins was a special belt that carried all the bowls and utensils, just in case one of the crew had lost their bowl. The two cheerfully walked out and began to distribute food.

"Land ho!" came a girl's voice. She went down and over to the bow of the ship where the captain stood, crept up behind her and tapped her on the shoulder. It was a girl about Reya's age. She was skinny, four inches shorter than Reya, had red hair and a blue and white striped shirt. From the corner of her eye Reya recognized her as the ship's navigator. "Cap'n, ma'm?" she asked. "We're coming up to an uncharted island dead ahead, four marks north. It should take about twenty minutes for us to get there. ..Or at least I think it's an island.."

The captain nodded but did not look at the young navigator, for she was already looking at the island through a brass spyglass. "I saw it myself," she replied, putting away the spyglass. "Set a course for that island. I will inform the men." And then she strode off. It looked like an island of lush vegetation, but the majority of what was seen was a gigantic golden structure. Reya guessed it was a populated island because it must have taken a lot of people to build that golden dome. ...Golden dome? Where had she seen one of those before?

After a few seconds of pondering, the captain shrugged off the thought and walked to the main deck. "All hands on deck!" she bellowed. Reya had a loud and commanding speaking voice, so everybody on deck surely heard her. They immediately stopped what they were doing and turned to face their captain. "Alright, you scurvy slobs! We're gonna set anchor at an island dead ahead. We don't know what we'll find over there, but I'm taking half the crew with me to explore. The rest of you will stay behind and watch the ship. Whatever treasure and resources we find we will bring back here. Y'all got that??" Several nods and 'yes ma'ms' erupted all around the captain. "Good!"

Reya walked about and began barking orders to several crewmates, then she traveled to each of the lower decks to inform the rest of the crew. To those in the kitchen, she said "Eat up, men. Today there will be new land for us to explore in about twenty minutes. Anyone still aboard the ship be ready to help us haul over whatever we loot. Everybody got that?" Several crewmates nodded and some saluted, but nearly all of them shouted 'Yes ma'm!'

After that Reya went back up to the main deck. She walked over to the bow and took out her spyglass again. She looked closely at the island. No, at the dome. She was curious about the great structure and what could have been inside, but why did it seem so familiar? When she laid eyes in the golden dome it almost seemed to call out to her, and she slightly regretted taking her eyes off it earlier. But now she was inspecting it closely. There was something about that dome...

Daniel was still cleaning his rifle when he heard the captain's voice ring out. He immediately stood at attention, the bottom of his rifle rested on the deck as he held the top half. It took him half a second to register where the captain was before he turned to face in her general direction.

She spoke in her usual manner when addressing to her crew, not that it was any different from how Daniel's previous commanding officer spoke to his men. When she finished he replied with a "Yes Ma'am." As did many other crew members. She went around barking orders for a bit before finally making her way below deck. Daniel then checked his equipment, to make sure everything was in with him. He was hoping to be part of the crew to be taken onto the island, he needed to get his feet on solid ground.

He nodded to himself when he was satisfied with his equipment before taking his seat on the barrel again. He pondered over what may be up ahead, hopefully not a place loyal to the King. Nothing makes Daniel shiver with fear and disgust more than the idea of having to kill another Imperial soldier, or even an Imperial citizen for that matter. Only time will tell... And hopefully it's on his side.

Mizuki had been sleeping on top of a condenser when the captain walked in and let the engineering staff know about the upcoming island. She awoke suddenly as the captain's words sank in. "Well so much for my nap, I guess it's off to work now."

She made her way to her quarters on the officers' deck. Her room was arranged very simply with a bunk on the left and her personal effects on the right, not a very impressive living space for an officer but it was hers none the less. She grabbed her shotgun, a handful of satchel charges, and several different types of grenades including fragmentation, flash-bang, red smoke, and a flare just in case. Satisfied with her load-out she started to make her way to the bow of the ship where the captain was sure to be.

Rya heard something about an an island that they were about to land on. "Well, it would be good to get my feet on land again, not to mention all the plants and such there. Perhaps I could find some good cooking ingredients." Wanting to make sure that she was going to be one of the crew that boarded the island, Rya set off to a small room in the back that was her bedroom. She didn't need much space, all she had was a bed and a trunk, after all she slept in the closet.

She opened her trunk and pulled out her twin dagger whips. Laying them on the bed she took off her apron and began to change into her traveling gear, she had with her lock picks, a few throwing knives, and a hidden poison vial in her boot. She always kept it with her, because she would rather die than go back to her abusive father. Her vest covered the top half of her leaving her plenty of room for mobility, it was also made from a special fabric that stopped most arrows and some stabs. She also wore her black cargo shorts, "You never know what you might find." Mouthing that motto of her's, she left her room and headed to the deck.

A tall and Lean built man surveyed the maps and charts in one of the port deck cabbins. he was in no way the cartographer, but he knew much about such things. Being knowledgeable of such things helped him understand the way to fight aboard a ship, the movements and placement of a ship amidst a skirmish could determine the fight's victor and those who's souls aboard it that would not see home again. Educated in the ways of the world he kept an air of education in both intulectual and worldly realms. Though he was far from a scholar, he had been shanghaied at the age of nine when a merchant vessel that he and his father were aboard was boarded, looted, and then destroyed. None were spared save him, only due to the ship's Captians pity.

But that was so long ago... 17 years to be exact

A calloused hand ran through his sholder lenght, dirty blond hair. Charles Daily had been a pirate for most of his life, he wasn't sure what to call himself, he wasn't a first mate, or a standard deck hand. He was a natural when it came to combat and tactics, close or far away. He understood the guns and how they shot, he understood swordsmanship and was far more than adept, but he felt right with the deck under his feet and the wind in his face. He didn't mind doing a dirty job or two, but it seems life had warranted him an officers cabin above deck. It was not grand by any means, but it was his.

He had few things to call his own, books, clothes, and a few bottles of various liquor, wine, and brandy. And of course his sword, but he wore it more often than not. He had retrieved it from the first mate of a vessel that they had boarded, it was outlandish and of a metal he could not identify, it seemed lightly ornate with scrollwork on the blade and handle. The knucklebow was spread in a fashion reminant of that of the ancient Napoleon Dragoons, and the makers mark was a symbol that looked most alien to him. It never dulled and it never pitted, but most of all it seemed to sing in the air, it was a small high pitched hum that reverberated in the sword, almost as if it were giving it's own furry filled war cry.

Taking a small glass of brandy and downing it with a purpose, he readied himself, tucking in his white shirt and straightening his shortjacket. He was needed on the deck, for some reason the captian wanted to see him aloft, and he would not complain. Hopefully there would be something interesting ahead, for if he were to place himself anywhere, it might as well be out there on the deck, but you never knew.

Only the Captian and a few officers knew who he really was, but to everyone else he was called Sky, like the very unpaved traverse they sailed.

A man dressed in elegant yet intimidating black clothes was walking toward the port deck of the ship, not many people had known his name but the air around him seemed dangerous and didn't seem all too social either. He was fixing the top button of the coat he wore around himself, he didn't want to look slouchy or unpresentable. He knew he's a pirate but to him, that's no excuse for not trying to look your best and for him, nothing less than the best was acceptable to him. As he came inside that room, the first and the only thing he looked for was the maps and charts though he knew himself that he wouldn't need it but it wasn't his choice in the matter to say that but needed to know where the Captian wanted to go so he knew where to take the ship.

When he found them, he saw that Charles were looking at the maps and without a word, he walked over then picked up most of them then looked through them himself. All the places that were marked were familiar to him. He looked over at Charles then gave a slight bow with his head before taking the maps and leaving the room quietly. To everyone, he looked like a person that wouldn't hold a conversation at all or seemed like he was higher than everyone else but that wasn't what he was like at all. He knew that he was equal to everyone else and never tried once to set himself apart from other people. It was others that alienated him in the first place and labeled him as such.

Before speaking to the Captain, he wanted to take a more depth look at the maps himself so he sat down in his room. Looking at the maps one by one as to remember what paths to take especially if they were under heavy fire and needed to escape. His room was quite neat and had a bookshelf of other charts, maps and places of interest which he had pointed out himself. This was so no matter what crew that he was in, they would always find somewhere for supplies and other such things. He was very insightful and that's what made him essential for many voyages out into the wide world. He had a small bottle of rum in his pocket that he kept on him in case he needed a drink and took that out, opening it and took a small drink as he went through map after map. He knew that he'd have to remember this maps by memory in order to do his job right.

After finishing with them, he took only three out of the bunch because out of the places that they where around, these four were the closest from where they were in four different directions and also showed in depth of the geography of the places at hand since the World Map didn't get that close. He rolled them up and carried them out of his room then went to console the Captain where would they be rolling out first. He stopped a moment to look out of a window then turned fully in that direction, even though he didn't say, he was particularlly happy about the new adventure he was going on and was going to put his skills to good use as to make this journey as saftifing as possible, knowing what they all were after. After reflecting on himself, he took a walk to find the Captain.
