Hrm. I don't really know then. Maybe its just how much damage they would cause if they are both charged and push through their defences.
I mean, many of my attacks would leave you tottaly screwed when my character swings his mace, which is the point.
However for some mages the best they have is 'fireballz!' which is going to hurt, but unlikely to kill you.

We are using a charge system...though I'd be in favor of a more freebased system. It's not without its troubles. I'm not sure what you mean by point system.
Trying to avoid getting involved in the fight, while still going deeper into the fight as the shelter (read: tower) is behind the fighting. ;p

I'm not using a point system for magic though.
I'd expect at least some kind of channeling/charging period to unleash like, super powaz death beam.
Only to effect physical abilities, and as a cost to my characters ranged attacks.
