Name: Shirley Baxter (formal title: Shirley of Baxter).
Height: 1.69m
Weight: 56kg
Hair color: Golden blonde
Eye color: Deep blue
Skin tone: Fair
Bio: Shirley Baxter, or Shirley of Baxter - her titular name - is a young woman and the eldest child of an old family of nobility, the Baxter-family. Of course, in The Hub today, being a nobleman is pretty much no different than being a regular, average-Joe and so things have changed a lot since the old days. Still, the family is well-off, having made their living by running a chain of banks, the Baxter Banks as they're called, and little Shirley had a pretty comfortable upbringing. She was afforded tutors and teachers who educated the young lady, and heiress to the Baxter-fortune, in how she should act, talk, carry herself and do with her spare time. Unfortunately, young Lady Baxter took after her mother and had little interest in flower arrangement, piano-lessons and sipping red tea while gossiping about what the fishmonger's wife was doing in the shed with the baker from across the street.
Instead, Shirley prefered to venture outside and explore the world, meet people and make friends. She was a bright and happy child, who was much liked by the people around her hometown, even though she frequently got scolded and made her parents worried when she went on said, unauthorized adventures. However, some time during her youth, she came across a man who was homeless and penniless. When she approached him, full of chipper and joy, the man spat at her and slurred something about her being the kind of person that made people like him poor, unemployed and homeless. When she inquired to as what he meant, since she was just a child at the time, the man regaled her with his tale of being an upstanding citizen and honest worker, until his employer fired him, his landlord took away his home and his wife and children left him because he couldn't afford to feed them, nor keep a roof over their heads.
All of this was apparently the fault of the 'rich' and 'well-off' people, who according to the man enjoyed picking on the 'little people', which was apparently him. This meeting greatly effected young Lady Baxter, and the more she went outside in the future, the more she paid attention to the homeless, the sick, the feeble or the poverty-stricken. When she asked her parents about it, they shrugged it off and merely said that it was how things were, and that it wasn't always somebody else's fault that someone became poor, sick or homeless. Still, being the good girl that she was, Shirley decided to try and help people, both friend and stranger, to make the world a better place. She wanted to use her connections and wealth as a member of the Baxter-family to make a world where not just children like her could have a happy upbringing, but a place where everyone had that opportunity!
During her early teen years though, Shirely began getting frequented by a strange woman, who looked to be suffering from some kind of disease yet didn't seem at all sick. Time and time again, the two would meet and the strange woman would always mock or hassle Shirley, calling her efforts pointless and futile. Eventually being unable to ignore the cynical wench, Shirley confronted her... The problem was, Shirley ended up in a tree, hanging upside down, buck nekkid, for all to see. When she was eventually rescued, and asked why she had done something like this, the girl tried to explain the strange woman and how she had seemingly been hoisted up there by 'magic'. With nobody beleiving in such idle fantasies, she became somewhat ridiculed and her father became distant and displeased with her, starting instead to favor his younger children.
Her mother, however, was the only one who showed some semblance of belief. And, against her husband's wishes, had the child sent to The Library for an examination. It was there that Shirley learned the truth - she was a Holder, a person who could communicate with spirits and use mystical powers. And apparently, she was the kind of Holder known as a 'Knight'. She had read about knights. Chivalrous warriors who protected the weak and stood for all that was good and just! Excited and elated at the prospect of being able to become a knight, she asked where her spirit was. To which the examiners stared at her blankly and then pointed to behind her. As she turned, with a smile on her face, she rroze. For there stood that cynical, diseased woman again, waving at her with a crooked smile.
Many things happened since then. Shirley quit her lady-like lessons and studies and instead took to learning things like swordsmanship, riding, marksmanship, map-reading, tracking, bartering and so on. However, no matter what she learnt, nor no matter where she went, her spirit was always in tow. And no matter how many times she tried, her spirit always bested her - both physically and mentally. Still, Shirley retains her positive attitude and ambition, to help the world and its people, while her spirit laughs at the naive notion and would rather see everything crumble to dust - except for her Holder, who she just wishes to see in tears and despair when she's lost everything.
In order to help people, and reach distant places, Shirley joined with The Library, the people who had realized that she was a Knight. Surely, theirs was an organization that would see to it that justice and joy was brought to the world!
Branch: Administration.
Holder: Knight (natural-born).
Spirit: Image.
Nyx is a rather unusual spirit. She looks almost completely human, were it not for her slightly violet-tinted hair, her unnaturally colored eyes and the bizarre, pulsing markings or veins that engulf and spread all over her body. Were it not for the latter of these traits, Nyx could probably have been consdered pretty or even beautiful, but to the majority of people her unsettling stigma puts them in an uncomfortable spot. And rightly so, for the spirit is a vile and ruthless one, caring little for other lives or beings. She would happily destroy a city without batting so much as an eyelash at it, were she allowed. Her cold and almost demonic persona puts her in direct conflict with her Holder though, who is far too soft and inflexible - according to Nyx. Holder and Spirit have a love/hate relation, where they cannot stand one another's methods, ideals and motives, but on the other hand neither could live without the other and they share a bond as close as that of any family or sibling, perhaps even closer. Nyx also dislikes being out during daylight hours, and prefers to appear during or after dusk, with or without her Holder's permission...
Weapons/Spells:
- Wilting World: Touching any solid, physical surface, Nyx can spread her 'veins' onto it, like a corruptive force or virus. The corruption takes the shape of black, vein/branch/root-like things that spread and spread. Using this ability/spell on objects such as trees, houses, cliffs or even the ground itself, Nyx can crumble and shatter it, as if it had corroded/eroded/decomposed. Against living beings however, this ability is far more vicious, acting as if the target was being afflicted with necrosis, causing their flesh and body to turn putrid and rotten - a most unpleasant and mortifying experience. However, Wilting World can only be conveyed through direct touch or by spreading from one joined target to the next - like for example, spreading from the ground onto the side of a building, onto a rooftop, onto a person there. It cannot spread to flying or levitated objects/beings and nor can it do anything against ranged attacks or other distance-based spells. The rate at which Wilting World spreads across a living being is determined by the being's highest stat versus Nyx SPI, if it exceeds her SPI, the corruption spreads slower, while the opposite occurs if her SPI is the higher stat. In Nyx own words, this is the ability and power to destroy the world and everything within it. Of course, spreading this across the entire world would take far too long and be far too draining to accomplish.
- Liquid Form: Nyx turns her entire self into a mass of liquid-like, oozing black goo. The substance can move on its own and can travel vertically up and down any surface and even upside down on ceilings. It can also leap tremendous distances by 'shooting' itself like a stream. Anything that gets caught in the substance will find it gooey and sticky, like mud or marshwater or some other thick, unpleasant liquid. The primary use of Liquid Form is to either traverse otherwise impassable terrain, quickly chase down or reach distant enemies, or to escape. Nyx could also technically 'drown' someone in this form by completely enveloping their head. She can also use this form to 'grab hold' of people and take them with her as she travels - most commonly used on her weak-sauce Holder who wouldn't be able to keep up otherwise. Liquid Form is however vulnerable to Ice, Frost and Fire, or any other elemental forces that causes dehydration, solidification or petrification.
- Umbra Veil: Weaving an intricate pattern with her hands, Nyx summons a suit of armor that seems to be made out of the same substance as her veins and Wilting World. She can cast this spell on herself, but prefers to give it to someone else, usually her Holder. The dark and disturbing suit of armor provides both magic and physical protection, as well as having the additional effect of rendering the person immune to outside domination, as any attempt at magically penetrating the interior of the armor will cause Wilting World to spread from the armor towards the attacker (Note: Wilting World will only spread if a Bishop or other outsider tries to meddle with the interior of the armor and the wearer, it will not spread to someone who is merely striking it or shooting at it). The corruptive force also destroys any geas or hostile magic cast to manipulate the wearer, acting like a sort of anti-body. The price of wearing this armor however, is that it saps the wearer's vitality and, if prolonged or over-repetetive use of it occurs, it could possibly kill the very person it was placed upon to protect. The armor provides physical protection equal to Nyx POW, and magical protection equal to her AGI, thus it isn't really effective for Nyx to wear the veil herself - as her SPI naturally gives her a higher magic-resistance and the two effects do not stack. Furthemore, a person's combined POW and SPI determines for how long they can wear the veil before running the risk of dying from over-exertion. The longer one wears the armor (the closer you get to your time-limit) the more sluggish and slowed you become, due to fatigue and sapped vigor.

May change the branch if too many people belong to it already. Which, if that's the case, I'll probably switch to Administration. :P
- This, of course, if this character is approved that is.![]()

Actually, every single one of our characters are working for Mercenary branch. It's just that we're allowed to work for the other departments too.
Seriously, if not, Administration, Intelligence, Medical, Culinary and Research would hardly get their time directly on the field. Intelligence, both PRs, medical and Recruitment can be argued as they might be deployed.
But yeah,
I meant Mercenary-Mercenary. :P
Not Mercenary-Medical, or Mercenary-Public Relations.![]()
Exactly. Sairen is also Mercenary-Mercenary, meaning she doesn't do anything but mercenary work.
By the way Xalt, your spirit image is broken.

Saying mercenary-mercenary is redundant and pointless.
