How many characters are currently not on a mission, Kestroll? :o
It was, but defeating it doesn't dispel it per say. Still, doesn't take much more than a couple seconds of touching the scabbard.

The loneliness... It's overwhelming~ :<
Sorry for the delay.. The holidays have been taking up lots of my time and attention and I'm still quite busy due to the approaching New Year... I'll see if I can have a Ramza post soon, otherwise, my team can move ahead and drag me along a bit..

So how does this portal work? Is it basically like stepping through a metaphorical door or is the process different?
All credit for this awesome set goes to Lillian Thorne!
Name: Aiden Sahar
Appearance: He's slightly above average in size and build, but not noticeably so. Aiden stands at 6' 1" and his years as a soldier are reflected through lean muscle, unassuming beneath clothes. He has jet-black hair of medium length, and his grey eyes and light beard lend him a roguish appearance. Though often kept hidden when dealing with the professionalism world, he sports a few tattoos from his military service. These include his left and right arms being adorned with "ETHOS" and "Victory or Valhalla" (respectively), and a two-headed eagle on his back. Though young, only in his early 20's, his demeanor can often lead people to believe he is much older.
Bio: Aiden was born in a lower class family with a childhood that wasn't rough, but was lacking what many other children had. He's sure he could have found a "legitimate career", he knew the military would provide a stable paycheck and opportunities for advancement if he proved worthy. Well, he did. In the far off sands of some country that no one in the hub actually gave a shit about, he received his baptism by fire. Aiden found himself at home among the dunes in the middle of a skirmish, the butt of his muzzle-loaded rifle in his shoulder and his sights looking for the next target. He wasn't some super soldier, but he was more than capable. It was during this time that his spirit, Rasifah, manifested inside his head. While he became light-hearted and emotionally calm in the face of the violence and death he encountered, his spirit would take on the fury and mercilessness that he had tried to avoid. After his two-year stint was up, he decided he could make more money and tap into his spirit as a mercenary for the Library.
Branch: Straight Mercenary.
Holder: Rook
Spirit: Rasifah: storm. He is a being of fury and lust for conflict, whipping up winds and sands into a visible form. Rasifah manifests as a small, violent sandstorm with a face at minimum. Rasifah can "focus" down his form to look more like a vague humanoid figure in the middle of a sandstorm. Although it can increase in size, it's generally around 8 feet tall. His appearance depends on some unknown variable, but Aiden hasn't figured out what it really is yet. Most of the time, he's rather calm and is simply a whisper in Aiden's ear, giving him advice on how to live as a warrior. But when he's in battle or even when Rasifah feels as if Aiden has been insulted, he will grow angry and insist on violence as the solution.
Weapons/Spells:
- Glass Katar: A katar that materializes from sand and forms into a glass blade around Aiden's hand. It was the weapon that was formed when Rasifah first manifested himself, but he hadn't been able to reproduce it until he began training with the Library's mana experts.
- Razor Whip Chain: Aiden can materialize a chain out of Rasifah's sands to use as a weapon. The mid section is typical chain, but a few feet on either end are composed of razor-sharp links and topped with a blade that resembles a small shark's fin in size and shape. Without formal training in its use, Aiden has a difficult time wielding it outright unless he is in the heat of battle. The stronger Rasifah manifests around Aiden, the easier it becomes for him to use this, with Rasifah's winds guiding Aiden's movements to use the weapon effectively.
- Desert Pistol: It's an implement made of hardened sand that launches hard, glass "bullets". Because of his past, it's taken the shape of a wheel-lock pistol for ease of us. Personally, Aiden would prefer the kick and slightly greater power of a real pistol, but the availability of it leaves little room to complain. It takes a shorter time to reload than your average pistol by a short time, taking about 7-10 seconds to reload.
Skills:
- none
Skill points: 9
Stats:
POW 5 SPI 2 AGI 5 Total 12
I fixed a few things here. Also, to explain the tattoos, they're both personal tattoos of his relating to being a warrior. The first is talking about "Warrior Ethos" and the second is an attitude he has taken. The third, the two-headed eagle, is the crest of his former Regiment.

Question: At least for me, it seems "The Library" takes on a fairly open "time-period" setting (not in terms of architecture, of course) due to the presence of multiple factors I've seen so far. Does this mean an individual wearing a load-bearing vest and toting a more modern-looking firearm (as a Rook weapon summon) would be within probability? Or are firearms limited to things like Lukas Kelly's character's wheel-lock pistol? To what degree can "available" time go either forward or backward in terms of technology?
Hoping this makes sense.
