Everyone has their secrets. To some, their secrets are simple. Trivial things they worry will leak out and cause a so-called scandal. But what if you had a secret so different, so complex, that if you told someone about it, there was a very real possibility that the person you told would turn you over for a monster? What if your secret had to be guarded against no matter what the cost? What if, the secret that you carried was so desperate, that if anyone found out about it, it could cost you your life?

That, is exactly the sort of secret the Emerson Sisters carry. The sort of secret that, if ever let loose to the public, could possibly destroy their lives forever. For you see; the Emerson Sisters are, were born, and will always be; Moresta.

What is a Moresta, you might ask? Well now, it would make sense that you did not know, wouldn't it? After all. Those born under the curse of the Moresta have kept it hidden for as long as any one of them could remember. You see; being born a Moresta is both a gift...and a curse. Few are born as one. And even fewer come from families who have blood lines of the Moresta curse on both sides, equaling into pure Moresta offspring.

But I should explain. Moresta are, essentially, a variation of Witches. Their powers and practices are not the same, but it is easiest to compare them with Witches and Shapeshifters. Since everyone knows what those are, it will be easier to explain by comparing them to those. You see, a Moresta has two powers. One, is the art of what they like to call simply; Shifting.

By shifting, a Moresta born can manipulate their bodies into anything they see. It could be an animal, or another person, whatever the occasion calls for. However, the act of shifting into a person requires both good timing, and careful consideration. If one should shift into another person, and that person walks into the same area, the spell would be broken, thus revealing the true form of the Moresta.

The second power.. varies a bit.

As for the Emerson Sisters. Each one possesses a very unique gift, even for their kind. For you see, until they were born, not one case had ever been recorded in Morestian history where three children were born to one. Nor has it been that all were the same gender. To top that off; it has [i]never[i] been recorded that every child of a Morestian family would be born with the curse. Most are lucky enough to escape it after the first born.

One, possesses the power of Forte. It is a conflicting, and often confusing power. For Forte enables the one who bears its curse with the power to feel the emotions and auras of others no matter how troubling they might be.

One possesses the power of Sight. This, too, is a curse upon the girl that bears it. For she who carries the curse of Sight is bound by that curse to catch glimpses of the thoughts in peoples' minds.

And finally, the third of the sisters possesses the power of Light. The curse of the Light has happened rarely before. For this curse, forces the one who bears it to see the deaths of others. Only those who are of Morestian blood are hidden from one with the curse of Light.

The Emerson Sisters have lived with their parents up until now. When both parents are killed in a car crash, the girls are left a rather unexpected inherritance. Their father's boarding house.. with three men already living there. Having no choice but to move into the boarding house to run the place, the sisters are now faced with a very difficult task.

Keeping anyone living there from finding out their secret.

Attitude: Other than her sisters, Alyssa doesn't talk to people much. Even in school, she tends to keep to herself as much as possible and is considered largely a loner. She doesn't like letting people get too close to her. And for very good reason. Even with her sisters, she's usually withdrawn and quiet, still keeping to herself most of the time.

Aside from being easily angered, Kathy is a pretty intelligent, sociable young woman who still tries to have a normal life in spite of what she is... and that sometimes can lead to trouble.
