This world....it's different from ours. Since the existence of consciousness, Mans shadow was conscious as well. They moved according to their own will, and seemingly their own conscience. Though, humans soon realized that they and there shadows were intertwined for life. The first hunter-gatherers used emotions and pictures to communicate with their shadows, and the shadows could shift form, to terrifyingly big, or unoticeable and small. They used this to scare herds of animals to traps, or groups of men, ready to take the animals down. Fast forward thousands of years. Humanity evolved much as it did here, and in a similar fashion evolved the same technologies. Of course extensive studies have been poured into the Shadows. Among the first discoveries made were insignifigant. They didn't eat, sleep, or need to breathe. They were completely different from humans, yet they were intertwined. The Shadows felt compelled to do what their human said, as well Humans were beholden to do what their shadow said. Though humans were more in control of their shadow, then the Shadows were the humans. This led to a harsh period during the Industrial Union of slave labor. Children and women used in the factories, were required to have their shadows work as well. A great discovery was made during this time perid. Indeed, as it had been rumored for centuries, Shadows had feelings. This came as a whole shock to the world, and immediatly (after providing better rights for workers) a great rush of Shadows rights was called for, though the movement failed, and Shadows were still worked oppresively. Fast forward to modern times (again). Shadows are still thought of as servants. Though Shadows are far more accepted into the community, even to the point of being friends to many. Though the Shadow's rights movement is stronger, it isn't enough to do any actual change. There are many secrets still unknown to the world. The main point of this RP is the discovery of these secrets, and the discovery of a dasterdly plot. Will you help further the rights of Shadows? Or help to keep them under an oppressive thumb? You ultimately decide!

Facts that you need to know:
Shadows do not speak/think with a written language. They still use the primitive form of communication they built with the humans of old, though attempts at teaching speech may be allowed.(Also they do understand language, but just can't think it.)

You can use your Shadow to go through walls/doors and stuff. Just don't go OP and have them completely understand everything they see. So don't have them go through something and have a mental image of the room.

Suicides in this world are very rare, because everyone usually has someone to understand.

When a Human dies, their shadow dies. Nothing else, unless I say otherwise.

Naming Shadows is looked down upon by those who treat them as servants. For those who love/like their shadows are indeed allowed to name them. (I'm looking forward to seeing shadow names)

Shadows (as far as Humans know) do not mate. Though when 2 humans marry, they do seem to be closer to each other.(The Shadows that is)

Shadows can perform complex tasks with startling accuracy. Some Shadows with gaming humans, can play games so well, that people online can't tell the difference between auto-aimers and Shadows playing.


So this is my RP idea whatcha think? Suggestions/Constructive Critisism is appreciated.

Can one have sexual relations with shadows?

As they are 2D objects, no. But seeing as people can technically love objects such as cars, or inanimate objects in this world, I guess it may be possible to love a shadow, but not sexually.

They interact through the world with other objects shadows, so if you said "pull the lever" it would pull the switches shadow, and thus throwing the lever in reality. The mechanism is unknown in this world. A more pzzling effect, is that it can levitate objects too (within small limits) which also confuses most scientists who study shadows.(Shadetology)

As for leaning, not really.
