I only like to RP
I love both!
I only like to GM
I don't RP or GM... I'm on RPG for the spamz!!1!
Which describes you and why?
Personally, I prefer to GM because I feel that I have a clearer understanding and stay truer to the universe that way. I always do RPs based on New Asgariath, which I invented. I can't say I like the more mundane parts of it like trying to get interest or keeping things organized and smooth, but it's still fun and I am just used to GMing rather than RPing.
I love the process of creating the universe from the ground up, something I don't get from RPing someone else's idea. And of course, there is that sense of something I can be proud of once I'm done.

It's easier for me to GM in groups. It's hard to put trust in other people's hands for me because I've been in a lot of failed groups. (most when I haven't GMed, but I've also failed a few times...) I just need to know a lot of details (and probably take control of plot) and the best way to do so, is to GM. Of course in one on ones I want equal leadership but it usually ends up that I have to take the lead there too...so yeah. I'm more of a GM than a 'roleplayer' I suppose.
{ Status: Looking for 1-2 more active roleplays as I'm almost done catching up. }

I don't know if -love- is the proper word for me. I've enjoyed my stints at GMing in the past, especially on a forums based game. It's a good deal more difficult for me to coordinate GM'd events on IRC, and usually require multiple sessions and big swatches of time. Getting more than a 3-4 people together and coordinated on IRC was a total nightmare, and there was a lot of time spent twiddling thumbs while waiting for people to post in sequence, sometimes upwards of an hour.
That said, I enjoy both. There's a good deal of fun in guiding the adventure, as well as participating in it.
like gming more yet my threads tend to be unpopular i wan't to create a set world, but i don'r have time to explain it every intrest.
Also if there is a place to post a world for refference can you tell me.
My computer once had over 300 cookies. So I put it on a diet.
I love both, the challenges of GMing, juggling many story-lines and all the small details of the world but I enjoy the fun of just being a player and watching the story unfold while interacting with the other players just as much. It is all fun and I like to have my cake and eat it too. Though I have yet to GM more than one thread at a time, that might be my limit and I certainly have more than one RP as a player at any given time.
I've enjoyed my times as being a GM. Though personally, I feel that I'm better at managing the organization of OOC threads than I am at keeping the plot functional. So I typically like to team up with another person when I go into a GMing situation, because the whole plotting thing is a lot easier for me when I've got someone to bounce ideas off of.
Lately, I'd rather be RPing though. It's mostly because I feel like I don't have as much time on my hands to be running the show as I used to have. Just playing makes it easier to balance RPing with the rest of my schedule. I can just come on, read the posts that were made while I was gone, and make my own post. Don't have to worry about people deviating from the plot and whatnot.
I have found that while I love creating an original storyline, I am absolutely NOT fit to run it. ;-; I lack the skills of a true leader, or atleast a ruthless leader. I can be a heartless bitch to those I care about, but to strangers? I can't even properly tell them I don't want them in my RP.
I've roleplayed all my life. The closest I have to being GM is running a CYOA thread... So yeah... Oh, and helping to run a nation RP. Needless to say, I couldn't handle the job as I quit both after some time.I guess roleplaying is stress-free, though the tradeoff is that you have no freedom over anything except within the governance of your character and some say in the running of the RP if the GM is willing to listen. I guess it depends on what you really want.
Being a Gamemaster is about the thrill of leadership; holding the reins. It's about creativity at a very broad scope, no different from being a director of a play or a movie.
Being a Roleplayer is about the thrill of acting; stepping into some other pair of shoes. It's about creativity at a personal, individual level, no different from being an actor/actress in a play or a movie. Sometimes actors/actresses get to direct their own movies though, analogous to how sometimes roleplayers get alot of say in the direction of the RP.

Nobody
I lean more toward RP - I enjoy being in a world that unfolds, and I get to learn it from my character's perspective. Sometimes, though, some little ideas will form in my head and I'd really like to RP that world or concept, so I eventually make a RP on it...
Two died pretty quickly (co-GMing), but one has been going on for three years, so I can sort of see what I did right, wrong, and why one lasted longer than the other. ^^;
But in the long run I enjoy simply RPing, since it fits into my schedule better (balancing two jobs).
