Name: Diego de la Rosa, Diego the Plaguebringer
Order: Order of Drenoth
Apply for Circlet? Yes
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Appearance: Diego is a foreign looking man with mocha brown skin and black hair. He keeps his hair short but otherwise lets it run wild upon his head, leaving him with a messy hairdo. He carefully maintains his facial hair, leaving him with a goatee. Diego can be described as an attractive man with stormy gray eyes, pronounced cheekbones, and a strong jaw. The only thing marring his face are a trio of scars resembling claws that run down his left cheek and the fact that his nose is slightly crooked from having been broken multiple times over the years.
Diego has the body of a runner, muscled, toned but not overly so, evidence of his strenuous exercising. His body is marked with numerous scars, evidence of his past fights and duels gone wrong. He stands at a respectable 6'0" and weighs about 178 pounds.
Diego's armor is a mix of chain and leather that aims to provide a healthy mix of both maneuverability and protection. He wears dark gray leather armor over his whole body under which he wears a tunic and cloth pants. His head is covered by a hood of the same color while his face is covered by a white bandana that has the symbol of the Order of Drenosh where his mouth would be. Black chain is embedded in the armor to protect vital areas of his body including his chest, down his spine, and around his thighs, biceps, and neck. Diego also adorns his armor with small baubles, some of them trophies from past battles, including a couple of fangs, some feathers, and a small black bell.
Biography: Diego, like most of the Order, didn't know as a child what he was. He saw the world as a bright and wonderful thing, his parents were all-knowing and perfect, evil was only present in fairy tales and spooky stories, and everything would always turn out well in the end. He was simply a child, happy, playful, curious, and oblivious. He spent his childhood as most normal children do, playing in the streets with their friends and simply enjoying the little things in life.
At age ten, people started to get sick. Those that Diego spent his time with fell ill in his presence. His friends started to abandon him, preferring their health over his friendship. Those that tried to persevere eventually started to retch and vomit, becoming sicker the longer the spent time with him. As well as his friends, this sickness afflicted his family too and his parents, Knights of Drenoth, would soon come to the realization that this was his Magistra manifesting.
Over the next few years, Diego was trained by his parents, both in forms of combat and in controlling his powerful Magistra. He showed great potential when he was quickly able to learn and become adept with different weapons, showing inclinations toward the rapier and parrying dagger. At the age of 14, after having been trained relentlessly to ignore the infernal whispers of Hell, his parents decided he was ready to learn the Magistra of the Order of Drenoth, the ability to become a demon.
On the day it happened, he was nervous, not knowing what to expect. Diego felt uneasy about the idea of becoming one with what he was fighting. His parents and Diego dueled, intending to release his demonic form through combat. When Diego tapped into his inner hate, he transformed and then his mind went blank.
After he reverted he was faced with the bodies of his parents, bloodied, clawed, dead. His world was shattered, his parents were so strong, he couldn't kill them, they could never die. The corpses before him served as testament to what he had done, evidence that what he had believed in before was a lie. Diego proceeded to live in the house on his own, unable to cope with what he had done, he haunted the place and when Knights from the Order of Drenoth arrived to investigate why the house had grown silent, they found the bodies of Diego's parents, and Diego half-starved simply staring at his work.
Believing that the house had simply been attacked, the parents killed protecting their son, Diego was taken in by the Knights. After several months of rehabilitation, Diego resumed his training, although he vehemently refused to Demonize, only doing so once to show that he actually could do it. The instructor that had seen it was in the infirmary for a month and from then on he was not made to Demonize during his training and was instead made to training in the use of his own Magistra and in the art of fighting with a rapier and dagger.
Personality: Diego is a warm and happy individual. Single-handedly shattering most of the stereotypes that surround those of the Order of Drenoth. he wasn't gloomy, nor depressed, nor brooding. He was a man of smiles and compliments, and excitement.
He is seen as one of those that can bring a smile to another's face with his earnest and sincere comments and compliments and his laugh is one that is contagious. He loves watching others in training and mentally assessing their skills as a combatant and partakes in duels frequently for fun and to make sure he stays in peak form.
Despite this happy exterior, he fits the troubled stereotype of Drenoth Knight. Sometimes he will just stop talking, his mind gone into the past, reliving some event. When he thinks he's alone he'll sometimes seem to whisper to himself and those that have overheard this have spread rumors of him being the slightest bit mad, a rumor he denies. He is also known to have horrible night terrors of which he doesn't speak about.
Combat Information
Companion Type: Diego has shown mastery in the use of a rapier with a parrying dagger and as a result had a rapier and an accompanying dagger forged to be his Companion Weapons. The rapier is about 43 inches long, weighs about 2.3 pounds, is about 2.6 centimeters wide until it reaches tapers into a point. The hilt of the weapon is wrapped in black leather and the pommel is host to a macabre steel skull with a large green emerald in its mouth. The guard is an ornate thing of multiple spiraling bars of silver, gold, and steel. The blade itself is made of some black metal that has been inscribed with several runes, and the upper part of the blade, edged and sharpened, seems to always shine as if covered in some kind of liquid. The parrying dagger is made of the same black metal and has a more mundane guard to protect the hand while parrying. The pommel has a similar skull although instead of an emerald, a ruby is present.
When needed, Diego's companion weapons can be changed into the form of that of a bow and arrow, the bow being a longbow of an ashen gray color, with a skull on each end bearing a ruby and emerald. The parrying dagger then turns into the arrow to be fired, barbed and oozing with some kind of liquid.
Companion Name: The rapier/bow is named Fantasma whereas the dagger/arrow is name Sanguijuela.
Companion Special Abilities:
Fantasma - Fantasma has the strange ability to numb the area where it cuts and in place of pain bring an equal sense of cold to the area, as if it had been touched by a ghost. This is caused by the venom that the blade seems to create on its own that envelops the tip and edge of the blade. If the venom is wiped off it replenishes itself after about five minutes and when cut by the blade, the person will likely recover normal feeling in the area after about 20 minutes. As a bow, Fantasma has the same properties although they only apply if Diego uses the bow to actually cut a person, the property is not transferred to the arrow it shoots.
Sanguijuela - Sanguijuela gets its name from the ability it has. Like a leech's teeth, Sanguijuela is coated with an anticoagulant. As a result, whenever this dagger is uses to cut another, the cut will take much longer to start clotting and will continue bleeding past when a normal cut would have stopped. As an arrow, Sanguijuela has this same ability but has also shown the ability to teleport back to Diego after it has hit an object, resulting in him not having to carry around a quiver of arrows.
Knight Magistra:
Plagued Shadow:Diego has the ability to control his own shadow. He can stretch it, bend it, and make it do his bidding as if it were simply another limb of his body. He can also extend his shadow by using other shadows, increasing his range, thus giving him an advantage in dark or dimly lit areas. What separates this Magistra from those others who can manipulate their shadow is that his can physically affect others. If his shadow can grasp his opponent's shadow the opponent will start to get sick, at first resulting in that feeling one gets when they feel only the slightest bit off, then it will turn into dizziness and headaches, from there stomachaches are added into the mix, followed by nausea and vomiting. After prolonged exposure to Diego's shadow, a person will be hit with tremors and a feeling of coldness. After 24 continuous hours of exposure to Diego's shadow, the person will die due to organ failure. After Diego's shadow releases a victim, they will quickly recover, the time spent in recovery equal to the time exposed to his shadow. As a result, Diego is very good at interrogations and torture, able to bring a person literally to the brink of death with his shadow then giving him a day to recuperate, only to repeat the process over and over and over again.
Order Magistra:
Demonize - When Diego manifests into a demon his body becomes covered in bone white armor and his Companion weapons take on form of a pair of great swords which retain their abilities. From between the slits between his armor, a green mist pours forth that sickens most who breathe it in.
Diego's Demonization Form
What sets apart his Demonization is how it affects his innate Magistra, amplifying it to a terrible extent and giving Diego's shadow a form of its own. Diego's shadow becomes a terrifying night-black demon with wicked claws able to easily cut through leather and rend flesh. Due to the Demonization, Diego loses full control of his shadow sometimes leading to him and his shadow fighting each other as well as their opponent.
