"Just started a people-free diet. Besides, you're a bit hairy for my taste." Ragadozo retorted, rolling his eyes. He gazed off into the forest, relieved to see they were likely alone. "I wouldn't recommend standing around without any way to defend yourself though. I may not be interested in eating you any time soon, but there are plenty of things around Kahkrah that will be at your throat without a second thought. Data Spell tends to bring out the worst in some players..."
"Let's ask around then. Someone around town has got to know where all the excitement is at...or at the very least where we can get some training in." Ryu suggested, looking left and right as he continued down the streets of Droc. The village was so lively and full of such a diversity of people and races, Ryu found it difficult to choose who to question. A tall, scarf-wearing man with a thick Russia accent stood with an odd looking group, and while he looked like the kind of guy who would know where the battle was at. Ryu started towards the group of extremely anime-like characters, but as he got nearer he realized the russian was busy delivering some terribly grave news. While Ryu was tempted to approach them and find out what it was that ailed them, but from the sounds of it, they didn't want to be bothered. Most looked like they were grieving...and one of the girls in the group with hair that resembled a goose's flank looked downright murderous. He continued by without a word, glancing over his shoulder a couple times before he and his feathery bud were down the street. Not long afterwards a large fuzzy white creature carrying a well-endowed fairy woman on it's back. Ryu marveled at the duo, who looked especially weird, even among the crowds of Droc. He picked up the pace, practically sprinting over, when a striped dragon anthro glided down beside her...only to be uncomfortably bear-hugged into her breasts. "Wowjustkidding~" The adventurer thought aloud, instantly changing direction so as not interrupt whatever was going on between those two, which he could only imagine would get flagged for adult images by any mods wandering nearby. He slowed to a stop, glancing left and right for a suitable guide. "I've got this, I swear..." He assured Free...and likely himself...."You'll see. My take on making decisions on such adventures is impeccable." He hesitantly began to wander about the village once more, checking and double checking each side of the street. Just as his doubt in his adventure-seeking abilities were starting to stir, he suddenly froze. "There!" He exclaimed, breaking into a sprint toward the cloaked figure walking their way. So mysterious! So shady! Surely they were destined to cross paths with such an individual, someone who cloaked their experience and wisdom only to reveal his true nature to the most daring and bold. Or not.....though whatever made the hooded man hide his face ignited Ryu's curiosity.
Coming to a sudden halt just a foot before the man in the dragon hide cloak, Ryu bowed his head slightly as he started his spiel. "Hello, sir!" He greeted boisterously, bowing slightly, "You seem like the sort who knows Kahkrah well enough. I don't suppose you could direct us to the best area to train or find quests, could you?" Ryu's excited smile was unwavering, even as he noticed the green, scaley skin of the stranger. He simply hoped that this man...or, lizardman, based on how little he could see under the obsidian hood...could lead them to the risky and action-packed parts of the game Ryu so feverishly awaited.
Jaeger barely even looked Justice's way. How long had it been since he'd spoken to anyone in Kahkrah other than Zima? Probably not long enough for the anti-social, wingless wolf....Elsewhere still, Justice headed out of the forest, having long since parted ways with Sapphire. He yawned as he walked, having experienced quite the long day, especially given his bizarre encounter with that zombie-esque mage girl so early in the morning. The day's events had proven to be draining already... so, while he was tired and not paying as close attention to where he was going as he should've been, it wasn't long before he bumped into a two-tailed red-and-white wolf that he somehow didn't at all see before. "Oh, sorry about that." he spoke up quickly, bringing himself back to reality. Maybe I should log off for a while, I need to be more alert... the thought crossed his mind for a moment, but evidently he didn't give it too much consideration, as, next thing he knew, he was looking over the new wolf curiously. "...I don't recall seeing you around much, at least not in any of the places I frequent, but that could simply be a coincidence. Or are you new?"
"No." He answered, his tone as void of emotion as his expression. "I just keep to the more isolated areas of the island." He looked to the skies, staring up at the cloudless sky expectedly.
Rain sprinkled the edges of an open window, just barely dampening the bench inside the posh purple room. The girl leaning her head against the window pane didn't seem to mind as a few stray raindrops trickled down her face. Such peaceful moments were rare and few. If only she could lay here longer, free to enjoy the refreshing breeze and the welcoming warmth of the morning sun. Clearly her time outside was practically nonexistent, as evidenced by her sickly pale skin. But despite her obvious malnutrition, this exceptionally frail body of her's was unarguably the more comfortable one, as opposed to the rotting shell she would inevitably have to return to. Her brow furrowed slightly at the mere thought of the loosely stitched skin and decaying bones she had been forced to live with every goddamn day....all because of...
Clenching her eyes tightly, she tried to keep her memories of the violet monster she so despised at bay. It had been fortunate enough she had lasted this long offline without the withdrawal starting to take it's toll. He had already stolen enough of her life, she wouldn't let him take away this precious moment of serenity. With a yawn, the girl continued to savor this bit of time she had to herself. After a few minutes of gazing down at the lush garden just a couple stories down, a knock at the door pierced the silence. She cooly invited her visitor in. A middle-aged maid opened the door hesitantly, carrying a silver tray with breakfast on it. She wishes the girl a good morning, and expresses how glad she is to see her awake and well. The girl thanks her, and after a brief pleasant exchange the maid offers to help the girl down to the garden...
After a moment of grim silence, the girl puts on her sweetest smile and declines the offer. They both knew she wouldn't take the offer. She insists she needs more rest, and the maid reluctantly nods and bids her adieu, reminding the young woman that she'll be just down the stairs should she change her mind. She chuckles, amused by the suggestion. It must have been months since she last even stepped foot out of her room.
Still smiling slightly, she carefully got to her feet. She noticed her hands shaking at her sides; the more violent symptoms were soon to follow. How limited her time away from the tyrant, the war and the shadows she had been confined to for many a year was...still, she had some insane hope she'd be able to break free....no matter how long it took. No matter who she would have to delude, no matter how many contracts she would have to have signed, no matter how many times she would have to be mutilated and mangled. And maybe....just maybe....when she did win her liberation and take down the heartless bastard behind this digital nightmare...she would be able to track down her hero...the only one among the brainless killers and cult freaks that she could actually care for....and maybe she could share one of these peaceful moments away from all the noise and panic with him.....
It's a nice dream....
After eating half the meal left for her - as per usual, that was all she could stomach - she headed for the bed where her laptop lay. "AH!" She yelped, collapsing on her bed as the pain in her head suddenly intensified. She gripped her head, groaning and cursing out at the empty room. Her breathing became labored and any sign of a stable mind had completely disappeared from her expression. A few minutes passed as she thrashed about the bed before she could finally get a grip on herself. Sneering at her computer, she dragged herself across the bed and began to click away at the touch pad. Even though her hands shook violently, it didn't take long at all for her to sign on to Data Spell. As the game loaded, she curled up at the head of her bed, grabbing the rather large lizard plush and pulling it into her chest.
...
Rin rose in a shallow cave, her bones creaking and cracking as she lifted herself up. Her left hand lifted shakily to her left eye. There usually was a bit of a lag before she could function properly, and it seemed today wasn't about to give her a break. Concentrating, Rin managed to fire up a spell. A glowing fuchsia haze began emitting from her hand, and when she removed it from her face her eye slipped out of its socket. It twitched on the ground for a second before moist pink butterfly wings unfolded from its back. It fluttered about the air, and was soon joined by others as more buttereyes rolled out of the empty eye socket. "Scatter!" She exclaimed, and a cloud of eyeballs and butterfly wings took to the sky. The dozens of Rin's winged eyes dissipated as they each took their own path, on their way to keep an eye on all of the vast land of Kahkrah. Once they were off, Rin blinked a few times. It took only a second and eight blinks for a new eyeball to roll into place.
The Witch of Kahkrah began her daily ritual of mending to her skin, which was quite literally coming appart at the seams. She lifted her other hand, and with a snap of her fingers needles and thread appeared. She lay back, levitating in the air as she recited the "Cinderella Spell", as she liked to refer to it. All five needles immediately got to work, weaving in and out of the sickly pale and purple skin. Rin bit her lip softly; she never enjoyed being sewn back together. It wasn't quite as painful as being torn appart, but that didn't make it any more pleasing.
Just as the last needle was making its way around her neck, a particular vision caught her interest. One of her fluttering little creations had spotted a familiar face in the woods. The heterochromiac wolf was headed straight for her pocket-sized spy, though it didn't look like he had noticed it. In fact if the eye didn't scurry out of the way he would surely.....
A sharp gasp escaped from Rin's mouth as the vision was ripped from her mind after her butterfly eye had met with a tragic fate under the Wolfspider's foot. Arching her back, the Witch burst into a bout of insane laughter. Her body convulsed in the air as she laughed harder. "I FOUND YOU!" She shouted, before evaporating into a pink mist.
