OOC: Started writing this, but I'm I'll so I gave up, I know it's very WIP but...well I have nothing else to add.


-Race-

Name: Velorians.

Appearance:
The Velorians are a race of generally orange skinned, humanoid females (according to other races, they obviously have no real concept of gender). By human standards very are, in the vast majority, very attractive and even other races will find it very hard to resist the charms of a Velorian (this is down to their ability to control pheromone levels rather than actual appearance). They almost always wear their hair incredibly long due to both cultural significance and the fact it can harden into a self defense weapon.

Culture: Due to their mono-gendered nature, there is little to divide one Velorian from another (except in recent centuries, where now a Velorian can be distinguished by the species of their 'father') thus their culture is reasonably peaceful in the way of strife. Their culture is an odd combination of a monarchy and socialism. While the Socialist Parliament runs most internal affairs and the application of funding, the Crown deals with justice and the military. In theory the crown can refuse to grant any of Parliament's laws but this has only happened a handful of times in living memory (a few thousand years). The Velorian's are slow movers when it comes to physical advancement, hence why they have spent such a long time as a unified space race but not made direct contact with others, they seek to consolidate each new discovery before moving on, adapting their advanced civilian sector before moving on to expanding further. This is why FTL is a reasonably new discovery for them, as they didn't feel the need to expand beyond their system of birth for centuries. The Code of Sentient Rights is important to Velorian society and generally the freedoms within their nation are hard to come by elsewhere, the downside being that the justice system cracks down hard on any criminals when it comes to sentencing, though the focus is rehabilitation rather than punishment this does little good for any aliens when the system is based off the enormous life spans of the Velorians.

Racial Traits:

• Advantage: Pheremone Control: A Velorian can actively manipulate the mood of any alien, calming down even the msot crazed villain. This makes them incredibly good and diplomacy as well as any dialogue situation.
• Disadvantage: Proceedure: It is rather hard to get the Velorian's to act quickly to anything other than the most pressing of situations, they are generally peaceful and will wish to weigh up all sides of an argument which combined with their long lives, means they are often slow to act.

Yes, I will set up a roll system that takes this into account.

I am thinking that I will roll a D20, and each player has a number (or two or three, dependant on size), and whoever has the number the die lands, gets the next horrific blood orgy meeting with them. It seems fair, and it's not going to be happening every post, only every once in a while to keep things moving.

Also, dice rigging seems a good tool for GMhammering people.

Got some important updates concerning my nation, read, or not, up to you.

Principalities:

Graia: The core region of Aurillia Graia has become renown for it's heavy industrial capacity, possessing a far higher forge world to habitable worlds ratio than any other principality. It is the production heartland of the Imperium.

Qin: The Qin principality is the place for the most advanced technological developments. It is here where many scientific minds come and advance the Imperiums technology.

Zel: The Zel principality is the heart of imperial culture. Museums, art galleries and religious sites flourish here. It is a very...colourful place, far more liberal than any other principality, though it is also the most watched by the Inquisition and Personal Defence Force. Freedom of idea's is a double edged sword for an absolute monarchy.

Here are some specifics and details for the Imperial forces, for both my own benefit and for the benefit of others so we both know what we're talking about.

Armour:
Armour is categorised into four kinds with infantry having the weakest armour and ship the strongest:
-Infantry
-Cybernetic (solely for automatons)
-Vehicle
-Fighter
-Ship

Armour types, these are applied to the kind of armour:

-Light
-Medium
-Heavy
-Superheavy


More complicated details:

-Weave: If an armour is described as a weave it means that it is a weave of materials sown into a suit. It is not restrictive and almost acts as a second skin but has reduced protection compared to plating. However it does not have weak points. (These are generally for infantry)

-Plating/Plate: The armour is compromised of slabs of metal plating that cover the thing being protected. It can take heavier damage than weaves but is far more restrictive and has gaps. If a ship armour is described as having plating then it means that sections of the armour are thicker than others

-Plateweave: A mix of the two types, combining both their strengths but not as strong as a pure weave or plate. So if something is described as a plateweave it is more flexible than plate but not as flexible as a weave and it offers more protection than a weave but not as much as a plate.

-Combat enhancing: Litrally what is says on the tin, it enhances the wearers combat capacity. These are restricted to units with a special permit that allows them to use it.

Patterns: Patterns are simply indications of where the thing was built and what kind of design style it has. E.g Graian pattern usually means it has a blocky and industrial feel and look to it, Qin a more seamless look etc...

Weapons

In the Imperium there are two basic kinds of weaponry; autoguns that fire solid slugs and energy weapons that fire lasers.

Details(autogun):

Cannon: If a weapon is described as a cannon then it means it fires ammunition larger than normal guns but at a slowe rate. If applied to infantry the range is 20mm-60mm. For vehicles and ships it gets bigger.

Mass Accelerators: These guns are mounted on ships and normal guns fire 600-ton slugs at 30,000 metres per second, Heavier version fire 800-ton slugs at 40,000 metres per second.

Railguns: Rail weaponry means that the slug is propelled with a powerful electric charge meaning it travels much faster than a powder propellant.

Details(Energy/Laser)

Turbolaser: A turbolaser is a laser weapon that has a very high fire rate compared to a normal laser weapon of the same kind however the bolts are less powerful.

Cannon: If a laser weapon is described as a cannon it means that the size of the laser bolt/beam is larger than a normal laser bolt/beam. However it is also slower that a normal laser weapon.

Turbolaser Cannons: A combination of the two and, like Plateweave, is not as good as both individually.
