It's quite simple. Not all cartoons are animes, but all animes are cartoons. Like how not all fingers are thumbs, but all thumbs are fingers. There's nothing special about animes except that they are from Japan and have a slightly different style than most cartoons. If you like that, that's fine, but in the end that's just an opinion.
Remember kids, opinions are like penises. It's okay to have one, and it's okay to be proud of it. However, it is not okay to flaunt it in public, and just plain wrong to try and shove it down people's throats.
I don't know what to put here right now.
Lol pally. This may be a one time occurrence. But here <3 that made me lol for some reason.
Cartoons are American. Get it? That is the main factor. Whereas Anime is Japanese. But that's not all. The style is also different. The content is different. And the desired audience is different. Get it?

....god. You are being so dense about this. Audience, country of origin, and style don't change the fact that anime is a subset of being a cartoon. It enforces the fact that anime is a subset of cartoons. Derp.
I'm afraid you are the one who doesn't get it. Here is the definition of a cartoon as provided by Wikipedia:
"A cartoon is a form of two-dimensional illustrated visual art. While the specific definition has changed over time, modern usage refers to a typically non-realistic or semi-realistic drawing or painting intended for satire, caricature, or humor, or to the artistic style of such works. The term originated in the Middle Ages and first described a preparatory drawing for a piece of art, such as a painting, fresco, tapestry, or stained glass window. In the 19th century, it came to refer to humorous illustrations in magazines and newspapers, and in the early 20th century and onward it referred to comic strips and animated films."
Here is the definition of an anime, also via Wikipedia:
"Anime is the Japanese abbreviated pronunciation of "animation." In English-speaking countries, anime refers to a style of animation originating in Japan, characterized by colorful graphics and often featuring themes intended for an adult audience. The intended meaning of the word 'anime' sometimes varies, depending on the context. While the earliest known Japanese animation dates to 1917, and many original Japanese cartoons were produced in the ensuing decades, the characteristic anime style developed in the 1960s—notably with the work of Osamu Tezuka—and became known outside Japan in the 1980s."
Cartoons are a form of animation, and anime is the Japanese style of animation. Therefore, animes are Japanese cartoons. Plain and simple.

Animes are Japanese cartoons.
Not sure if you meant to use "your" or "you're"?
