    Survival

A small plane is flying over the Pacific Ocean when it has an engine failure. The plane plummets towards the ocean and begins to be ripped apart. You and the other 7 people in the back are ripped apart from the rest of the plane. The front of the plane hits a large uninhabited island and explodes on impact, however, the 8 people in the back fall into the ocean, and miraculously survive.

Now you have to survive on this deadly island, and its up to you and your teammates to survive.

Burton clambered out of the airplane, spitting water from his mouth. He coughed for a moment and laid down on the sand, gathering his wits. He tried to recollect his thoughts: he had been on a plane, he had heard a loud clanging sound, and the next thing he knew he was in the water. He sat up and surveyed the crash site. Maybe somebody was still alive. "Hello," he yelled into the water, "Is anybody alive?" He stood up and stretched for a moment, cracking his knuckles and brushing off his suit. He looked for his hat in the water. "If anybody finds a bowler hat out there, could you please bring it to me?" He coughed for a minute and waited.

Mia came to with the sting of seawater in her eyes and throat, waves obscuring her vision intermittently. She was clutching a cushion ...in case of a water landing your seat cushion doubles as a floatation device... well, bully for it. Her knuckles whitened on it yet more as she coughed hard, seawater exiting her nose and mouth.

Gasping, trying to get her bearings, she looked this way and that. There seemed to be a blue-greenish shape humped against one part of the huge circular horizon. Land? Might as well try for it, she was so tired, though. Were there others from the plane out here? Was she the only one alive?

"Hello?" It came out as more of a croak than a shout, bounced back to her on the moving water. She stopped and saved her breath, hoping that she wasn't alone in a sea of bodies.

After a long while of simply floating, trying not to think about what all might be sharing the water with her, Mia felt a bit stronger and pushed the cushion out in front of her, leaning her upper body on it so that all she had to do was kick toward the big bluish hump. Maybe it was her imagination but it seemed closer already, she had been drifting toward the land. Details like trees were vaguely etched in the glimpses she had between the obscuring waves and she thought she saw a human shape there, too, but it was hard to be sure.

Mia hitched herself up on the cushion a little higher so that it was under her elbows and she could see better. Yes, the land was definitely clearer, she could even make out a beach. She looked this way and that for other survivors and called again.

    "Hello?"

Sterling's body felt as though it was flying, his eyes shot open and immediately closed when the stinging sensation of salt water irritated his eyes. He had no air in his lungs. He would have to resurface soon or else he'd surely drown.

With as much strength as possible, he kicked his way to the surface taking in the deepest breath of air he'd ever inhaled. He could hear distant voices calling out "Hello's." He couldn't see any other people, only an island no more than 60 feet away. Using what little energy he had left he swam his way to shore and took a well needed rest. Sterling then began contemplating how he got into this situation.

I remember...being on that plane...there were some noises and then... he felt a sickly feeling in his stomach. He remembered clearly the plane going down and the strange feeling like his organs were going to exit out through his mouth. He thought he was going to die. He felt like he going to vomit, but all that came out were gags and dry heaves. That was when he heard a voice say "Hello" again, he jerked his head up to look for some other lucky survivor.

Noell liked to sleep, he liked the slow moving sway, the quiet surroundings, and the swift motion of the winds. "I should wake up" He thought to himself, "I wonder if i'm dead...probably not, since i can hear myself" he felt himself sigh. He tried to move his body, his warm and wet body laying under the sun. "The first time is always the hard part" he tried to wiggle his toes, is fingers, batter his eyes, none of them worked. "If i can climb large mountain, i can lift myself. Now lift yourself up." He lifted himself, the sand running down his back, the water drying under the heat, "Good, now stand up".

Standing atop the shore, the heat of the sun beating against his skin, the sea breeze blowing. "I wonder if there's anyone else alive, i sure do hope so. It'll be maddening if i was all alone." He grabbed all the things he could, two pipes from the planes and a blue bag that with a symbol of a bird "Must be from the plane, it is a miracle that this thing survived the crash." A small grin appeared on his face. he followed some sounds that he heard, unnatural and humane it was exhilaration to follow the sound.
    So....Weird.

The land was close now, Mia felt her foot graze a submerged rock and became more careful. Shock still blanketed her senses, it was hard to take in that one moment she'd been safe and secure and the next moment her civilized tiny world had shaken to pieces. She would have nightmares of falling into deep water over and over.

Her foot touched sand and at first she flinched then set her foot down gingerly, realizing that her flimsy slip-on shoes were long gone. All she had was the cushion (which HAD worked quite well keeping itself afloat) and the clothes she wore.

As she thought it, she saw something dark floating just to her right, mostly submerged. Thinking at first that it was something alive that probably had a humongous stinger or a taste for human flesh she shied back with a little yelp. It didn't swim or shoot out a tentacle or anything, though. It was either asleep or dead or...she looked closer. A hat?

Feeling sheepish she lifted the sodden bowler hat from the water and stared at it as she stood up in the surf. Finally giving a little shrug, she tucked her cushion under one arm and held the bowler in the other hand as she struggled against the grip of the waves.

Her hair and the thin red-patterned summer dress she wore dripped and drizzled as she finally made it to where the water was only to her hips, then her thighs, and finally it was much easier to walk, rubbery-legged to the sand.

Sun burned down on her unprotected head and shoulders as she surveyed this patch of beach. It was deserted but for a few shapes that were indeed people. A portly man, not very far away. A tall lanky person with a mop of dark hair and a man with short, brown hair who looked very much as though he didn't want to be here.

Shock was still the order of the day, for some reason all that Mia could think of to say to the short-haired man as she held out the bowler was, "I found a hat."

(ooc: Mia is speaking to Sterling and has so far seen Burton and Noell as well)

Sterling's vision was still blurry from the salt water. He rubbed his eyes in order to cleanse them and found himself looking at figures of people. He wasn't alone. He hadn't decided if that was good or bad yet. Whilst still on all fours in the sand he attempted to get up when he heard a woman's voice speak to him directly, "I found a hat."

Sterling shot her a look of indifference then stood upright replying back to the girl, "Good for you. I found a genius." His sarcasm surely wouldn't fix the situation they had all gotten in, but Sterling just couldn't help himself...

"What a coincidence," Mia's facility with words didn't fail her, "and I found a jerk, too. This is turning out to be quite a day."

Oddly enough the sarcastic man's rudeness stung her out of some of the shock. Still, at the moment she would have been just as happy to toss him back into the water. Instead she let the cushion fall to the sand with a wet slap and stalked away from him and from it, bowler hat still clutched unthinkingly in her hand.

She didn't know where she might go but away from him seemed like a marvelous idea.

Still soaking wet and rolling his eyes as the redheaded woman walked away, he made his way up the beach and to where the trees were. He took off his shirt and let it dry on a rather short palm tree.

Sterling was exhausted. He decided to lean up against one of the tropical trees he stood under and just stare out at the ocean trying to collect his thoughts. He'd rather not get too involved with the other survivors, however many there were. But he knows they all may need to pull together, and that's what worried him. He wasn't known for getting along well with other people.
"Just let everyone get settled in for now...better off to be alone and not start shit."
He looked out at the water while deep in his thoughts. His eyes watched the mass piles of debris from the plane wreckage wash ashore. He also made a note to look for anything that moved. He may be a bit of an ass, but he wasn't cruel.

"Oh, hello! Excuse me, miss!" Burton ran to catch up to the young woman. "That would be mine. Thank you very, very much." Burton took it and placed it on his head after shaking the water out of it. "My name is Burton. A pleasure to meet you," he said to the younger woman. He coughed and headed back to the beach. "Come along, now. It's rude to just storm off like that." Burtonreturned to where the others were standing.
