Anton shrugged at her comment. Everyone died. Everyone. He knew he was no different. But his army was strong. If he died they could keep going. Even if they hated him, they wanted the same goal for basically the same reasons. They were al bonded by pain and ambition.

"I would take your words into consideration, if you knew anything about my nature," he responded calmly. "My guard is always up. There are but two people in the world I trust, and I know neither will betray me," He stated. "I will die, sure. Then if there is a hell I'll be there. Who will have the ability to kill me though, is a mystery. It won't matter though, because my people will go on with or without me."

He turned away from her and smirked. "And you'll be dead too..." He pointed out, his smirk growing a bit before fading completely. "Anything else to say, Sweetie?" He mocked.

“Nothing beyond my words of warning, Phoenix…” Was all she said. She wondered who the second person was; obviously the first was Gabriel. She looked at him once Anton left and shuddered rather violently, rattling her chains. “Curse you for putting this seal on me… You really didn’t need to add that electrifying aspect to it. Keeping my casting abilities under was more than enough to have me be compliant.” The shaking seemed to stem from her nervousness about the whole situation. She felt weak again and moved her body to be on its side, stretching out into as comfortable a position as she could get with the binding chains. It was cold, annoyingly so, but she could deal with chill. It was heat she had a problem with… Cold water was the best thing in the world for her health.

“So why are you with him?” She asked, her eyes blinking slowly. She wanted to know everything she could, and Gabriel seemed like a good link to start figuring the details of the Phoenix out.

Anton smirked a bit. He had actually planned on letting her free from her chains before she decided to get mouthy.

Gabriel smiled a bit before looking at Anton, causing Anton to scowl in turn. Now Gabriel would get all mushy and into feelings and the past. It was annoying, but he'd tolerate it..

Gabriel turned back to the girl and smiled. "Well, Anton and I are best friends! I love him! We're like brothers! We've known each other since we were kids. And he protected me, and taught me stuff. He even taught me how to fly better," He informed her, laughing a little. They were always like brothers. They loved each other as family.

"A-And he taught me how to defend myself, but I still don't like fighting. I heal, mostly. Anyway, where my brother goes, I go! Besides, I bet without me he'd just kill and kill and kill until he got bored," He added jokingly. He knew Aton wasn't really like that, but others did not agree.

“Lovely story…” She said quietly before closing her eyes again. She’d exhausted herself, somehow, and she was losing touch with reality. A painful zap would probably keep her around just a little bit longer before she finally disappeared entirely. “Seems like he just kills regardless… Though I suppose you must’ve had something to do with me still being alive…” She went silent for a long period as her chest began a rhythmic movement, her body curled up in a tight ball. She didn’t move much despite the chill to the room, to her current outfit. Really, it seemed more like Hilania was sleeping to escape the pain of the cage and reality. Her body was going into hibernation for as long as it could, even if it was only for a few days at the most.

She slowly came around only because her body demanded sustenance. Her chains rattled softly as she pushed herself out of the dirt, coughing up some strange, watery mucus, leaving a clear lump outside of her cage. She shuddered and groaned softly; clearly her heath was deteriorating, as her hair and skin had lost the lovely glow she had originally had. “Let me out… Let me cast water… Something…” She murmured, not even looking around to see if anyone was listening.

When the girl passed out Anton laughed. "Ha! I thought I was the only one who found her voice annoying. I guess her own body agreed with me," He mocked, laughing again. Gabriel frowned and started to move to help the girl before being stopped by Anton.

"Leave her, consider it her punishment for being so damn mouthy," He said. "In the mean time, we'll relax for the rest of the day. She shouldn't be out for too long. If she wakes up, we'll give her some freedom then," He added.

Gabriel reluctantly nodded. "Well... while we wait, can we play a game? We have not played chess in a while." Gabriel asked, smiling again. Anton just returned the smile and nodded.

Hours later the two were sitting across the room on Anton's bed, still playing chess and talking. When she spoke, Anton could not help but grin. "Oh, and I just started to think you were dead. So much for peace and quiet," He joked before snaping his fingers. The action caused two small explosions on her chains, with just enough force to free her. Afterwards, he picked up a pitcher of water that they had refilled, walked over, and placed it right in front of her.

Hilania was spooked by the sudden explosion and nearly jumped up to her feet, her eyes widening and her heart racing. She saw the pitcher of water and chugged it down as fast as she could get her hands on it, those flaps of skin flashing open for just a quick moment as some water was passed through. She didn’t even bother to try and pull the pitcher through the bars; she just stuck her head between them to swallow it down. She glared up at Anton once she was feeling a little better and looked at her wrists, gently rubbing the spot where the cuffs had been. That was pretty talented and precise for an explosion. She slowly picked herself up and crossed her arms over her chest again, trying not to look at him in the face.

Her eyes went over to the chess board, where Anton seemed to be winning at the moment. Her eyes danced over the board a few times before she smiled. Anton wasn’t just winning, he was playing around like a cat that had caught a mouse and had delivered the killing blow already. That was amusing to her, but she didn’t say anything. His attitude towards her had been… Well, less than stellar. Hilania didn’t really take to someone who constantly insulted her or blew her off. After all, she had been known for “predicting the future” in the area—though who could have predicted this disaster?

Anton held back a laugh as he watched the girl chuck down the water as if her very life depended on it. Then again, part of him thought it did. He had already decided to try and keep a sizeable amount of water around at all times. It would be a pain, but manageable.

"Now, listen up, I'm letting you out of the cage. Whatever you decide to do is completely up to you. If you wish to stay or go out and see how things have changed around here, fine. But don't be dumb. Don't start fights and don't try escaping," He informed her. "I'll be allowing you access to your powers as well... Even if you don't start fights doesn't mean one of the brutes won't," he added.

He knew his men were not all stupid, mostly, but they were animalistic and they pretty much all had anger to let out.

Deciding he had said all that needed to be said, he pulled open the cage door and went back to sit in his original spot by Gabriel, who was smiling brightly.

When the power restraint disappeared, her hands suddenly let out a little burst of blue magical energy before gushing out two long whips of water, which held their form at about twice the length of her body. She let out a happy sigh and spun her body around, swinging the summoned water to pull it up over her skin, covering up the bear points with a watery, flowing, dark blue dress. It waved and moved around as though it were a flowing river, blocking her skin off from view, save her hands and feet. She gave him a little bow, the least she could do for releasing her body, and she looked over at the chess board. “Watch your knight,” She mentioned to Gabriel before walking out of the place, pulling water from the air to swallow down in big gulps. Something to refresh her body, now that she was free…

She wandered out of the place and saw that the town had completely changed. Everything was made of tents and a few random bits of wood save for the well-constructed building she had just come from. Figured that they were nomadic—it made it harder for the other groups to track them down and wipe them out. Hilania glanced about and watched some rough looking characters walk by, giving her obvious stares. She really stuck out against the stinking hordes… It almost made her a little worried, if it weren’t for the fact that she was a well built, experienced user with her powers. What exactly would she do here? She knew she was a prize, but why was Anton letting her out like this?

Gabriel smiled as the girl toyed with her powers a bit. He would hate to lose the ability to use his own powers. He could fight well enough, but as a mutant your powers were as much a part of you as your heart or soul.

At her warning, Gabriel looked at her, confused for a moment before looking down at the chess board. "Hu-Oh!" He realized. His last knight would have been captured on Anton's next turn. "Thanks!" He called out just before she left. He turned his attention back to Anton and grinned ever so slightly, just before moving his knight.

Anton scowled. And he was so close to ending it too. He would still probably win, but what a pain in the ass. She was trouble even when he gave her freedom... Limited freedom, that is. Regardless, he wondered what she would do now. Maybe she would get to make a friend or two. Get some fresh air. Something..

He'd check on her soon though. No doubt somebody would cause trouble. She was, afterall, new, a woman and reduced to a mere pet. An easy target.

She wandered the camp somewhat aimlessly, looking for places and people that didn’t exist anymore. She felt hopelessness seep into her mind at every turn, every tan-colored tent that had replaced some hand crafted building. Everything had been swept away in an instant, before anyone could organize things together and keep the town safe. This was war, after all. The best attack is swift, decisive, powerful, and enough to wipe out all opposition before they can secure a foothold. Her blue eyes turned in every direction, looking for some sort of clue about where to go, what to do now. They were also carefully watching the disgusting males as they made noises towards her, grunts or whistles or banter to try and gain her attention. She was glad that she had covered up, even if it was just with hard-to-see-through water.

Hilania wouldn’t be left alone for very long. Some of the groups had heard about her and were curious to see her wandering around. She noticed several individuals following her, and ran through a number of possible courses of action. The energy flowing through her body was unbridled, and as one of them got extremely close, her hand came up and struck him strongly in the stomach. That was followed by a concentrated burst of water, which sent him flying backwards and sprawled him along the ground. She gave a deathly glare towards the others who had been walking closer, who had now all drawn weapons. The one who approached her was catching his wind, but he was able to give an order to, “Beat her into the dirt!”

No doubt some scout would come back to Anton and tell him of the disturbance. Water was coiling up from her feet and forming a serpentine-shape over her shoulder, vicious teeth and four red eyes glaring towards those who tried pushing up harder. No doubt their leader would calm things down, but Hilania’s battle stance didn’t drop so easily. There were four men around her with huge wounds around their upper body or face, no doubt at least one of them dead… “Didn’t really want to do this,” She admitted, “I hate fighting.”
