Abilities:
All of Rose’s powers stem from the supernatural. Her natural affinity for Magicka is enhanced by her connection to the Spider Cult, and its dark god. Rose’s spider based powers come from the fact that she acts as a totem for the Spider spirit, much like someone powered by the spirit of the tiger gains feline like abilities, though she has yet to realize the full extent of her powers, and can only theorize herself as to where her powers come from. All she knows is that it’s magic.
-Can cast basic spells e.g. Creating fire in her palm, or amateur locating spells, but most of her spells require reagents, or preparation, so she rarely relies on her spell casting abilities.
-
Spider Physiology brought on by her connection to the Spider Cult, and the Spirit of the Spider. All abilities gained through this physiology are supernatural in origin, for example, when she shoots webbing, she really casting a spell that launches the magic webbing from her palm, instead of producing the silk internally. **Crossed out abilities will be added later on in the role play as the Character develops.
Equipment: Rosemary usually keeps her backpack with her, as she tends to carry various items with her, ranging from extra clothing, school work, and bag lunches, to crime fighting gadgets, or costumes. She always tries to be prepared when she leaves her house, bringing snacks, water bottles, and various other items along with her when she's planning on staying out for a while. You never know when you're going to get hungry while stalking crime.
-Backpack, holds various items such as clothing, food, cellphone, homework, small medkit, etc. She owns a regular two strapped backpack, that is green, and box shaped, or she sometimes makes makeshift bags out of her webbing.
-Spider Goggles, a pair of goggles created by her closest friend, and companion Alexander Richards, a brilliant teenage boy that know's of Rosemary's powers and strives to help her in her battle against evil. The goggles resemble two pairs of spider eyes, the frontal eyes are the largest and are the main pair, and they can act as a Heads Up Display if she chooses, giving her feedback on the situation at hand. The second pair of eyes sit above the first pair and are smaller, but allow the goggles, and Alexander a better view of Rose's surroundings to allow for better and faster feedback. Alexander has a direct link to the goggles optic feed, and can communicate with Rose through the built in headset. Both pairs of eyes can light up in various colors, Rose's favourite's being Purple and Red, and have a clip at the top to attach the hood from a hoodie, for maximum identity protection. Alexander is always planning new features for the goggles, and his latest version, though still in testing stages, adds thermal vision to the goggles features.
History:
Rosemary's journey to become a Superhero began when she was sixteen. A few weeks after her Fourteenth birthday, her parents, whom were University Professors, and well regarded Archaeologists, left her in the care of her Grandmother while they participated in a six month excavation in South Africa. Distraught at being left alone while her parents got to see the world, Rosemary shut herself into her grandmother's house, rarely leaving save to attend school. Her grandmother grew worried about her, and tried to lift her spirits through books, as she was an avid reader. She revealed to her granddaughter that the attic of her quaint home housed an expansive library, full of books, novels, and historical texts handed down throughout her family's history. If Rose couldn't explore the world with her parents, perhaps she could find her own adventure between the covers of some fantastic novel.
Rose was hesitant at first, but as she poured over the various hard covers and dusty old books her interest began to pique. One section of the library was devoted to the Supernatural. There were dozens of books on mythical creatures, and long lost worlds. Eventually she discovered some spell books, and though at the time she did not believe in magic, she decided to try to cast some spells, just for fun. It was then that she discovered her affinity for magic. She tried a spell designed to cast light, and much to her surprise, it worked!
After that she began to practice Magic almost everyday, in the safety of her Grandmothers attic. It soon became her main hobby, and she started to research magic more online, and visit wiccan stores for supplies, all while her Grandmother believed she simply read books in the attic. Her plan was to hone her abilities until she felt she was ready to take it to the streets, and act as a Superhero, like the various other crusaders that watched over the city. It would finally be an adventure all her own.
Eventually her parents returned from their excavation and after thanking her Grandmother for the best six months of her life, returned home. At home she continued to practice her spellcasting, though she found it harder to find time, and places to practice as her Mother left her job at the local University to work from home. So she began to train away from home, in the city, and surrounding area, which is how she got into her first crime fighting scenario.
While working on spells revolving around nature in the forest north of the city, she happened upon a family of campers under attack by what she would later know as Forgelings. Though she was nervous about using her powers to fight for the first time, she couldn't let the campers be harmed, and went to work. It was a hectic and clumsy fight, but in the end she defeated the creatures, though not without sustaining some serious injuries. Disoriented and in pain Rosemary fled the scene, and collapsed, where she was discovered by loggers, and brought to the hospital.
She told her parents, and the police that she had been attacked by wild animals, and after her injuries healed, returned home, vowing to become more powerful before trying to be a superhero. Fortunately for her, it didn't take too long for that to happen. Her Father had brought home various artifacts uncovered during their dig in South Africa to catalog, and examine before they were to be shipped to a museum across the country. A curious Rosemary decided to sneak a peek at some of the exhibits while her parents were out one night, and was drawn to a strange ornate statuette of a spider. Unbeknownst to her, the statuette held in it the magic of the Spider god, and had been activated during a ritual her Father had enacted in secret. When she touched the strange piece, the magic reacted with her magical powers, and she was chosen to act as a human totem for the spirit of the Spider god. This involved her tripping out to crazy images in her head for an hour while she convulsed on her living room floor as her body tried to deal with the power it was receiving. She passed out, and eventually woke up to her worried parents kneeling over her.
When they asked her what had happened, she shrugged, honestly not remembering, and it wasn't until a day later that she began to discover her new spider-like powers. Unsure of where they came from, and unable to remember the incident with the spider statue, she decided to use her new powers to fight villians like she had originally planned, but also realized that she needed to uncover the secret behind her powers, as great power was not just handed out without giving something in return.
Appearance:
- Rough Portrait
Rosemary was once a thin, fragile, ghost of a girl, but that has long since changed. Where she was once scrawny and weak, she has grown toned, and strong. Her stick like body has become lithe, and fit. Even her skin, though still quite pale, seems healthier, and more flush. The power of the Spider has turned the girl into the picture of perfection, both in looks, and in health.
The rambunctious teenager has fiery red hair, that falls down to her chest. She usually keeps it tied in various knots and braids, sometimes weaving beads, and other jewellery into it. When on the beat, she generally keeps her hair tied up in a ponytail, which she keeps pushed under the hood of her sweater. Freckles dot her friendly face, with an abundance covering her small nose, above her toothy grin. She has bright green eyes, that seem to grow brighter and more intense as she casts spells, or uses her powers.
In regards to clothing, she has quite an eccentric outfit, ranging from bright yellow overalls, to zebra print tights, and similar attire. She tends to pick wild combinations of clothing, usually involving bright colors, or unusual designs, which contrasts against her Hero attire, in which she tried to stick to dark shades of black, green, red or blue. Rose has yet to create an actual costume, and instead usually fights crime in a black hoodie, with a neon purple zipper, and drawstrings, a pair of denim shorts with tights underneath, and a pair of converse, of which she has various colors.
According to her friend Alexander, he is working on a costume for her.
Other:
This will be my first Hero character. I plan on having two Hero's and two villians, and I have a rough idea on what they will all be like. The villain I plan on creating to go along with Rosemary will actually be her father, whom has been involved in a cult worshipping Spiders, and the Spider god for some time, and will eventually become it's leader, and a antagonist for Rosemary and other Hero's of Westport city. I'll have his CS up next, but for now I think I'll just use Rose, and get past her beginnings so to speak.
I plan on her being more a supernatural Hero, in that she be most likely to fight a group of vampires, or a coven of witches, than a group of armed bankrobbers etc. Though I'd like for her to perhaps join a super team, or team up with another Hero to expand her crime fighting agenda. I also wanna explore the dark side of her powers eventually, since they stem from a Spider God that is not necessarily all that good. I feel like I'm gonna play her sort of as a mix between Spiderman and Batman, not entirely of course but in the sense that she's going to be a wise cracking teenager who is actually quite nervous or downright scared during dangerous situations, yet is able to utilize her unnatural powers to strike fear into criminals, as her spider-like powers can be quite creepy, and intimidating.
