War. War never changes.
In the late 21st century man destroyed himself. Life as we knew it was nearly completely obliterated from the Earth. Yet, like so many other times in history, man found a way to survive. Whether it be in one of the many Vaults, each built with a hidden purpose, or through some other means, man survived. And they thrived.
In the American Southwest, groups such as the New California Republic and Caesar's Legion were rising. Throughout the old United States, the Brotherhood of Steel has spread their isolationist ideology. Throughout the rest of the world others are rising and replacing their pre-war counterparts.
Now, 200 years since those bombs were launched and ravaged the Earth, you and your fellow refugees, outcasts and wanderers have gathered together to settle down. A pre-war military fort located in the southern half of Indiana is your new home.
"This is the Old Hospital Road. To the north, behind this wall are the majority of the old army buildings" James explained, referring to the large concrete wall stretching from east to west. "To the south were civil buildings and some barracks. I'm not really sure whats deeper in the woods there though. Now, we're almost to the entrance. Just a little further."
After less then 10 minutes walking the group came to a large entrance where twin steel gates had once kept unwanted guests out. Now however, both were rusted and one was lying on the ground with its sibling barely hanging onto it's hinge. Facing the group, James explained, "Well here we are folks. This is Camp Atterbury. I've got a map that I found when I first scout this place. I figure we can use the Admin building as a head quarters for the time being."
