So there are tons of Roleplays going on right now that are filled with magic, fantasy, and based in older times. These are indeed my favorite but sometimes I am in the mood for a good modern RP; here is my idea….
The idea of a RP based off the mafia has been swirling in my head for some time; it would be a larger one, filled with people from different families with different agendas trying to rule the city of New York. The place is ripe for the picking in money, corruption, greed, and satisfies the taste for political power along with the sales of contraband. You are either the newest recruit or a seasoned member of one of the following families:
DeMarco Family
The oldest and most powerful family that controls the entire region of Manhattan. It is run by the Donna Marcella DeMarco and her brother, Ceasario DeMarco. After their father, the former Don Rafeio DeMarco, was shot by a hire man from the Capetta Family, his daughter Marcella took up the reins in her father’s place. Quickly learning the ways of negotiating, and having a natural mind for business propositions, Marcella took control of the many businesses all throughout Manhattan. Her brother focuses more on secrecy and the strategic planning of collecting money and goods, thus making the siblings a dynamic duo.
Along with collecting rent for “protection” by every business within their borders, the concrete businesses are the main base of their livelihood; but the DeMarcos are also heavily involved in the political world to make sure their monthly shipments of cocaine from Latin America continue to go undisturbed. They are a very high class and haughty people, extreme connoisseurs for red wine; their pride from their wealth is noticed by everyone around them and they tend to look down at the other families. The Capettas are their sworn enemies, and every time one is seen even near their borders, a bloody gun fight undoubtedly follows. They have a rocky relationship with their supposed allies, the Ricci Family, through a personal relationship between the two leaders, and a strong alliance with the Moretti Family.
Capetta Family
The Capetta Family controls all of Queens, directly across from the occupation of the DeMarcos. After the death of Rafeio DeMarco, and the attempt to gain control of Manhatten, the Capettas are on the decline in power in their constant war between the two allied families. Their leader, Don David Capetta, is a ruthless man who focuses on his own gain. Hideously scarred from an acid accident when he was a teenager, David Capetta has a profound hatred for the world, and obsession for power, and a grotesque love for women.
The Capettas own the Waste Management Facilities all across Queens. They are a very ill-mannered family; more thugs from Italy who are organized under the Don. They get most of their wealth from human trafficking, owning many buildings all throughout Queens that house prostitutes and earn money from their many nightly services. Despite their hatred for the DeMarcos, the Capettas do depend on their hand in politics to keep the government’s nose out of their business.
Ricci Family
The Ricci Family is the youngest family; controlling Brooklyn, directly under the Capetta dominating Queens. A very reserved family, they knew immediately that to survive they had to form an alliance with the DeMarcos. Very reserved, and unwilling to try and go to war with any of the other families, the Riccis are known to keep to themselves. Their leader, Don Alessandro Ricci, is a very young but extremely intelligent and attractive man who has a personal relationship with Marcella.
Their main source of income is the jewelry business, overseeing monthly shipments of mostly rubies, from Africa. Gaining millions of dollars every month, the Riccis are obsessed with protection, and spend their money on hire guards, and building up resources in case their relationship with the DeMarcos goes sour.
Moretti Family
The Moretti Family controls the Bronx, the region directly north of Manhattan. This family is very similar to the DeMarcos, their Don Larenzo Moretti being dear friends with the former Don DeMarco. They are not as rich as the DeMarcos, but their main source of income is the importation of illegal arms, so the family is always well armed and extremely dangerous.
There are underscores of underground illegal fighting clubs the Morettis own and run, this is a secondary source of income; gambling on the outcomes of the fights.
Just looking to see who would be interested in this type of Roleplay, and if so, which family would you choose

haha, ok cool. My character would be marcella. Anyone can pick a name of a character i mentioned but put their own twist in it if need be.
what position would you want to be in the family?

I'm not sexist, but the macho man world of la cosa nostra is.
In other words, the five families would never allow a female to lead one of them.
Being the boss of a family is not a hereditary thing. Nobody cares who your father is. Well they do but not to this extreme.
The boss is the most powerful and well alligned capo. A boss can set up his son to take over after him by giving him all of his assets and or contacts but even then it's a shaky thing since those loyal to the father may not be so loyal to the son.
So you see it's questionable the boss's son would take over after him, now imagine the same thing for his daughter.

I'd be interested, though I agree with Jude on his points. But you know what, maybe THIS mafia's different from the real world one.
I'm interested, but I'm curious as to what time it takes place. the 40s? Today? Earlier, later?

So yeah, it has wealth and prestige, but nobody, including some people within the organization, can fully trust a woman, which makes them look weak and etc.
