Personality: He is general a talkative pony, even talks to himself if no one is around, he keeps to a old code of honour and loyalty to his allies and brothers in arms, considers himself a gentlemen, tries to be as polite as possible around mares, he has a great sense of self-pride and is willing to put himself in danger in order to protect his allies, he is just a little unwary about anything non-earth pony, he also detests killing females and unless his friends are in grave danger, will not bring himself to kill a mare for it goes against his morale code
Story: Sparks is a somewhat fish out of water in this world, he was born in a small town called Maresford, a town governed and populated by Earth ponies, trained up in the ways of the sword, along with the ideals of standing up for what is right, he left when he was old enough to join Celestia's Royal Guard, thinking he would be adventuring and fighting, he was stuck with guard duty, bored with this job, being one of the only earth ponies in the guard, he left and took his sword ponyship to become a Mercenary-for-hire, doing jobs many other "normal" ponies frowned upon, but nonetheless he loved his job, he soon discovered Ponyville, establishing a base of operations there, He soon fell i love with local grade school teacher Ms.Cherilee, they soon entered a relationship, but it all changed on the day Sparks was going to pop the question, he was called to Appleloosa, to take part in some experiment, to his discovery it was in Suspended Animation, Unicorn scientists had designed them and needed a lab rat to test it, it was supposed to last a week, he got it, but then the war caught up, he was stuck in a dreamlike state for 200 year, when he was awakened, by the time the machine finally died off, he was thrust into a horrible new world, his lover was gone and dead, and so also was his town, blown off the face of Equestira, he nearly sank into the depths of madness, until something in his mind convinced him that there was some way to get back to the world he knew once before, until then, he is fuelled to remain a merc, but also stand as a beacon of mercy and justice, defending whatever shred of innocence is left in the hell has been thrust into, fuelled by the thought of getting back to his home, to his time....to his lover (Arctic admitted to helping write this lol)
