~ All an arsehole knows about is silly putty ~

    <>><<> Overview <>><<>

Magic is as commonplace as sand on a beach, purveyor of fun timess in a purveyor of fun timeshouse, and more airships and Sky Pirates sail through the clouds than fish pollute the waters, crowding the heavens and scaring away those black things with the beaks that migrate south. The country of Vlint is on the verge of declaring war upon A'lith, both two extremely prosperous countries, with feuds almost as large as their over-inflated egos.

You are a victim. Not of the war, not of some Pirate's random pillage, nor of the wrath of an angry woman, which is far worse than the two. Rather, you are a victim of a supposed dead man's prank, that did not seem to die with him as it should have. 'Guy Redmond', the man sent to death for the murder of late High King Brazil II, previous ruler of Vlint, has used your name in his confession before his execution; decapitation, by Chancellor Otto's orders. Your name, among other completely innocent individuals, is printed on it, and more than once. And with this confession came the people's desire for justice, and so it was that you were gagged, stripped, cuffed and brought before the Chancellor to be 'sent to the stone', as the people had dubbed it. You were not given a chance to defend yourself, and you were not given a chance to even talk to one another. Except, as you and your company were being dragged through a dusty trail, smacked with sticks and yelled to hurry, yours was not the only leg buckling. With nothing but a whinny the horses that had followed behind you were assaulted , falling to the floor and crushing the men atop them. Shouts ensued, but one by one, each man and Knight hit the glassed earth as hard as his predecessor, and one by one, each man's eyes rolled forward in their sockets. It all happened in a blur, and as you begin to examine your surroundings, things do not get clearer, but more confusing. Guy Redmond, murderer and traitor of Vlint, stands before you, arm outstretched. He does not speak, he merely offers his hand and tells you to hurry. There isn't time to explain, he assures you. With no other choice you follow him, shoes scraping against the trail, mouth dry as a desert, eyes wide as a split skull.

An impeccable, towering behemoth stands before you. An airship of extreme brilliance gleams in the sun, almost as expensive as it is new. A door opens, slowly, and you and your companions simply follow Guy into the ship, with no other option before you. You're a traitor, after all. A sought out traitor with a bounty almost as big a certain two countries' egos.

A cold breeze forests through the air and licks freezing cold at your cheeks. You shiver and you gulp. But most importantly, you step forward, toward the warmth and the light of the massive ship.

    <>><<> Rules <>><<>

I am Guy. I will play him. I will lead you and each and every character to their destination, but what you do in between is up to you and your characters. If Guy gives you guys 'shore leave' for a bit, feel free to go get some floosie in a pub knocked up, but other characters will probably hate you for it, or if you wanna get in a fistfight with another character, go at it. And if you go around killing people, you're screwed, because most likely we're not bailing you out after you get captured by that city/town's Guards. Ha-ha, tough luck.

Other than that, this is my first RP that I'm actually 'hosting' myself, so bear with me, eh? Input and questions are welcomed. I put this in advanced not because everything has to be perfect, but because this is about the characters. Hint-hint, there should be character development! And also because the rules should be more well-known over in this corner of the forum, and since this is the first RP I'm GMing, I don't want to have the RP ruined because of stupid-ass mistakes. Again, questions welcomed.

    Name: Nora Perish Fifths
    Age: 21
    Gender: Female
    Birth Date: April 1st
    Sexual Preference: Men
Hometown: The Fifths' Manor, Winter Haven, South District Vlint.

Description: Nora's fascination with clocks is the only thing that surpasses her love for technology. The love of science- along with megalomania tendencies- has deprived her of any close relationships she might have formed. When she was unjustly accused of murder and dragged away from her laboratory she was only annoyed that she didn't have time to adjust her beaker levels properly.

Appearance : She is pretty in a bookish sort of way-- but the word "pretty" isn't the first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of Nora. Cold... Mechanical.. Terse... Yes those more aptly described the woman with eyes dull and grey as the very machines she covets.

    Picture:

-Other Features:Goggles- either on her head or around her neck-- she can usually be spotted wearing a lab coat.

Social Standing: Before becoming a pirate: Due to numerous patents and successful inventions-- she is rich- however due to the secrecy in which she works and general lack of interest in making friends she is not of any real social standing.

Occupation: Before becoming a pirate: Before becoming a pirate: Scientist-- The brain behind leading researchers in bio-mimicry and mechanical engineering. As a woman she wasn't taken seriously-- she sends in letter to the head figures of the science world under the false name : "Tomas Darling"

Hobbies: Tinkering on any of her inventions, developing new ones... etc.

Likes: Nora has a special fondness for spiders.

    Dislikes: Anything not science related.

Strengths: Sheer intellect. She is rarely confrentational- although when faced with a psyical threat she will most likely find a way to get her hands on her cuff comunicator to summon some hellish creation.

Weaknesses: Nora suffers from a peculiar OCD that causes her to arrange any items on a table top according to height. She also is very gullible- she doesn't understand sarcasm due to her limited time in interacting with others.

Personality: She prefers the company of books and machinery over anything breathing- while she is not hostile- she is simply indifferent to humans. Not one to dwell on the past- she quickly adjusts to the idea of being on a ship-- as far is she is concerned she will only have very limited people to interact with. When not locked away below deck - she can often be spotted on the front bow reading -- or more often writing a manual.

History/Background: Not much is known about her background other than her sudden appearance in Vlint and her successful career. Her past for the most part is shrouded in mystery...

Weapon of Choice: Being a woman of science Nora developed tiny mechanical spiders to do her bidding-- which usually consists of turning pages, or helping her put on her lab coat. The spiders are her own special invention made using nanotechnology and scrap clock gears. They run on a tiny fuel cell that short circuits in even the smallest amount of water.

Ladies and gentleman we have the ship's mechanic on board

    Name: Miles Rayleigh
    Age: 23
    Gender: Male
    Birth Date: 21st November
    Sexual Preference: Straight
Hometown: A small little town to the north of Vlint which usually stays out of trouble. The arrest of Miles was the first major thing to happen there.

Description: A rather tall and lanky fellow, Miles rarely is the center of attention in a crowd (And he likes it that way!). He is usually dressed in a simple grey long sleeve shirt over pants of a similar color tucked into a pair of black riding boots. A black vest with plenty of pockets containing his ammunition goes over his shirt. They are faded and look well-worn, but Miles sticks with them because, as he puts it, they are comfortable. He often wears a wide-brimmed hat with a low crown over his messy hair, which he keeps up with a piece of cloth tied around his head. He keeps a bandana tied around his neck, pulling it up to cover his nose and mouth when his identity needs to be hidden. He has a face that looks more fitting of a scholar than a gunman. That said, his face also has the emotional range of blank to 'mildly put off'.

His sidearm, a single revolver, is holstered at his hip, the holster itself secured to his body by a belt. A bladed weapon threading the line between dagger and short sword is sheathed on the opposite side. He keeps two throwing knives in a shoulder-sheath on his left shoulder. His rifle, when not in use, is slung on his back by means of a quick release strap.

Other Features: He wears half gloves on both his hands and uses old-fashioned leather bracers to keep hold his sleeves down.

Social Standing: As a commoner, Miles didn't have much of a standing to begin with.

    Occupation: Apprentice Engineer

Hobbies: He enjoys reading just about anything. Hand him a book and you can be certain that he would flip through the pages at least once. He also enjoys tinkering with weapons, often trying to find ways to improve them, whether by safety or rate of fire.

Likes: Shooting things, tinkering with weapons, making things.

Dislikes: People getting too close, both physically and emotionally.

Strengths: A very, very skilled marksman with both the pistol and rifle. Can be relied on to get the job done. A very stealthy person, able to sneak into just about anywhere with little to no difficulty. Very observational, would notice things other people would most likely miss. A moderately good swordsman.

Weaknesses: Likes to keep to himself too much. Most people would see him as a cold individual, and they wouldn't be too far off. Has a surprising lack of empathy. Doesn't understand people as well as your average person.

Personality: Dark, cold, unfriendly are just a few words that can be used to describe Miles in a single word. He rarely displays any sort of emotion on his face, unless you count the few smirks he gives when he feels amused. He keeps a lot to himself and most people wouldn't know what he's feeling at any given time. He is a very pragmatic person, choosing to do what his mind says is right rather than following his heart. It can cause him to come off as a ruthless person, but, seeing as how Miles is already borderline emotionless, it doesn't faze him that much. However, Miles does realize that there is probably a little something wrong with him, even though if he's not in a hurry to fix it.

If you dig deep enough with high powered tools and machinery, you might just find out that Miles can be quite the gentleman. Just be prepared to dig for a very, very long time. He never displays his inner gentleman to anyone he's not familiar with. And the list people that he is familiar with has a grand total of two names on it. His mother and his sister.

History/Background: Apart from hometown and occupation, Miles doesn't like to say anything more about his history.

    Weapon of Choice:
Miles uses a rifle which he modified himself to have a breechloading mechanism as well as to have the capability of using shells.

    Breech loading mechanism:

He also uses a revolver which he has modified to have a quick reload ability by switching out the entire revolving chamber.

And, of course, he keeps a few knives on his body.

(Obligatory dark and distant character reporting! XD)
    The universe is made of
    Twelve particles of matter
    Four forces of Nature
That's a wonderful and significant story!

    Name: Arthur Westley
    Age: 43
    Gender: Male
    Birth Date: June 9th
Sexual Preference: Normal, which is of course hetero. (Not like it will matter much)
Hometown: More of a manor than a town, the Manor Burgundiae, to a minor noble.

    Appearance:

    Description:
    {optional}Picture:

-Other Features: Scar on right jawbone from a sabre that glanced it. Many more unsightly scars from lances and sabres that accumulated through the years that didn't much bear looking at (perhaps why they let him keep a shirt when they arrested him.)

Social Standing: Excellent. Something of a regional hero in the area where he was born. Upon being convicted, they remained true to him and maintained his innocence, albeit quietly for fear of retribution. Obviously, the rest of the nation hates him.

    Occupation: Guard lancer cavalry

    Hobbies: Equestrian sports, fighting, chess.

Likes: Horses, Guns, Chess, Military Discipline.

Dislikes: Flirts, "Confirmed Bachelors", so on, so forth.

Strengths: Master horseman, good swordfighter and gunman.

Weaknesses: Too rigid, doesn't deal well with the weirdos or irregulars of society. Likely going to be hated by the rest of the crew for his sense of honor and his admonishing them from acts most pirates find enjoyable.

Personality: As already described, very rigid

History/Background: A son of a minor noble, as his elder brother was the heir he was destined either for the clergy or the military. He opted for the second. A decorated officer and war hero, his opinion of the society he was in began to change. He recognized the brutal nature of war, and no longer glamorized it. Now he hates society, for betraying him who had done so much service and given the best years of his life.

Weapon of Choice: Lance, followed by heavy cavalry saber, followed by his carbine.

If I start, here is as well as else

    Name: Mason Sorrel
    Age: 32
    Gender: most definitely male
Birth Date: the sixth of November
Sexual Preference: I dont't know. Why don't you ask him?
Hometown: In a smallish town in the countryside with no redeeming factors besides making exceptional cheese, he was just another soldier back from the war. They had were glad to have one less drunk around town.

Appearance: A bear of a man, with a hardened face, Button nose and small eyes under a glaring brow, with a horseshoe moustache and long sideburns. Actually, just say he looks like Ambrose Burnside. (except not balding)

    -Other Features: None outstanding

Social Standing: Low, but not destitute; Generally regarded at the same level as sailors.

Occupation: A shop assistant young, then a soldier for 10 years

Hobbies: He enjoyed sports long ago; took up collecting trinkets during his service

Likes: His mother, his home, flying, and the orchestra

Dislikes: The cold and wet, but nothing else openly; He tolerates

Strengths: A might of muscles, born from barfights and soldiers' training, and a sound grasp of mathematics

    Weaknesses: Whiskey, bosoms, and bullets;

Personality: A gentlemanly musician if the world would have allowed it, instead he ended up as a soldier drunkard. He is polite and quiet when sober, but sadness is always behind the eyes. Anger comes easily to him, being evident after prolonged discomfort and someone to blame it on.

History/Background: Mason Sorrel was born on the sixth of November, thirty two years ago to a comely woman in a small town. His father had left after he found out about Mason's existence to be, leaving his wife to work all day and whore into the night. It left him to grow up with a mother rarely around, his childhood was spent on mischief and leering by the neighbourhood boys, until he was of twelve years, at which point his mother found out how he spent his days and hired him a tutor from the city. She had done well working in the shop, and when its previous owner decided to retire, he left it to her (though their relationship may not have been entirely professional). He learnt mathematics and reading, taking easily to the former, but still has problems with the latter. Eventually it was time for childhood to end. He had grown to be a respectable young man, if still having a bit of a knack for mayhem. His mother convinced him to work at her store, hoping he too would take it over in time, but it would never be, as war came calling. Some strife between insignificant nobles demanded every young man of both nation to fight for the right side. But promises of glory can make an invasion sound right to a boy. The war took 9 years longer than anyone would have thought; 9 years in the trenches, instead of 1 in the the sky or on top a steed as all the recruiters promised. After many long years of luck and skill he returned home with his glory. He had been a hero in the war, but a hero is not the battalion that wins the battle. A hero is the man that holds the line, even after all his comrades have fallen. To see every friend's limp body, every enemies corpse with one of his bullets in it; It can make a man hard. He took to drinking to forget his glory. And were fate more kind, he would have went to the block without complaint.

Misc: I'm going to win this.

Weapon of Choice: He learnt to make do with anything, but a good rifle is preferred. Though he sold his when he returned home.

Good, good I like them both. ;p

Arthur's interactions with the group will definitely be interesting, and Mason seems a good enough fellow to sit down and have some ale with. Weird combination of characters, but that always makes communication and the like more fun, eh?

Hey interested. Just wondering exactly how magic works in this. Have an idea for a more evil kind of person, and wondering how far I could go with a dark magic + steampunk kind of character.
    In between RP's

Please! Don't start/join a RP unless you have the time and will. I'm sick of making a million character sheets for RP's that die!!
