Back on the topic, though, being from Texas I have to watch so much church/state separation be ridiculed or flat-out ignored. I try not to judge people based on their religious beliefs - everyone has their reasons - but being surrounded by a bunch of extremely hardcore conservative Baptists makes it hard not to want to choke a few of them.

When my brother was a junior in high school, there was a boy in his -note this- SCIENCE class, who was a practicing Muslim. So, five times a day, he would pray in the direction of Mecca. His parents went through all the right channels and got it so he was allowed to leave this particular class for just a minute a day at the beginning (when the "moment of silence" usually is anyway).

One day, as he was leaving, the teacher apparently said to him, "Just remember, his name is God, not Allah." The boy didn't complain, he just kept walking. My brother, though, complained to the administration, but was told there was nothing they could do unless more people came forward.
