Name: Kayetan Dreyse
Alias: (None yet)
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Origin: Kayetan still doesn't know how his powers came to be ever since he discovered them as just another generic student in Hanover, where he was born and raised. He has tried to find out for a time before he just decided to chalk it up to luck and leave things at that.
Appearances: He prefers to wear casual yet slightly formal clothes, usually a blue-striped longsleeve shirt and black pants with a trench coat over them. He tries to cover as much of his pale skin as possible, even wearing gloves when it's not even cold out and a fedora which he usually pulls low to cover most of his face. In short, he looks like a stereotypical detective from the 1920s. Distinct, but still can be easily lost in a crowd. He has a messy head of light brown hair which he's usually too busy to cut until it noticeably obstructs his vision. He usually has a bored look on his face even though he is anything but. It's simply a ruse to make other people feel at ease and do what they wouldn't normally do around a more serious looking person.
Personality: Kayetan usually has his head in the clouds, daydreaming and thinking of very odd and sometimes worrying ideas that has nothing to do with the matters at hand. While this is a boon most of the times, on rare occasions it allows him to think outside the box very easily to find unorthodox ways of dealing with a problem. He is not the most social person, but neither does he deliberate avoid people. He's simply content being on his own and letting his mind wander. Though he may seem, and actually is, distracted most of the time, that doesn't mean to say that one can consider him to be stupid. He's quite sharp and smart. He just doesn't like to show it since he figures that no one would like a know-it-all. When the time calls for it though, he wouldn't hesitate to use his ability to the utmost, pointing out things which people often miss.
Morality: In simple terms, Kayetan is Chaotic Good. While he understands the need for rules and regulations to keep things running smoothly, he is still very willing to break them to get things done. Even when he does follow the rules and regs, he finds them restrictive and a hindrance at best.
Abilities: Elemental control of the periodic kind. In short, Kayetan has the ability to control the base elements of the world. With a single touch, he can find out and list just about every element that is present in an object. It makes him very useful in situations where there may be things too small or too faint to catch with the naked eye, but it's a hindrance when he starts doing it to food when people are eating. He can also tear things apart into their base elements and reform them into something else, but most of the time he just stops at the tearing them apart stage. Forming them into something else isn't difficult for him, it's just whether it comes out as what he intended or not that's the problem.
With practice, he managed to expand his ability into subatomic manipulation. It was a simple matter of focusing his ability to affect the insides of an atom rather than to treat the entire thing as a single object. This allows him to further break things down into protons, neutrons and electrons. He can even break the bonds of multi-atomic particles. However, doing so would force an unnecessary strain on him, though it does have it's uses, as he can very easily remove the bonds between particles in an otherwise indestructible door and turn it into jelly (Useful if the door's base elements are just as tough), or he can just force an object to break down into free-floating subatomic particles. It's a grisly fate should he use it on a live person.
History: Kayetan first discovered his abilities when he was fourteen when he was in school. As an avid student of chemistry, he was looking at a pencil and trying to figure out exactly what went into making one. No sooner had he thought about breaking it apart to see did it turn into a pile of carbon and whatever other elements that happened to be on it at the time. Suffice to say, he was both excited and surprised. Since no one else had noticed, Kayetan decided to try it again on something else. The same thing happened to an eraser and a plastic ruler. That was when he really got excited and tried it on an empty chair. It didn't work the first time and so he concentrated even harder. The second time around, it worked, but not in a manner he was expecting. The chair and floor melded and formed into one odd half-metal, half-ceramic solid with the upper half of the chair sticking out. That was when everyone noticed, but they still never did catch on to the fact that it was Kayetan that caused it.
For the next few years of his life, he spent his private moments perfecting his abilities and occasionally using them to gain an unfair advantage, such as during practical sessions for chemistry class. He knew that it was cheating, but it was just so instinctive for him to learn exactly what was in whatever he touched. Sometimes that led him to not eating a particular food or avoiding using the toilet for weeks, but most of the time he found the information he gained enlightening. With time, he learned to control it a touch better so that not everything he brushed his fingers against would give him such a feedback.
Nothing much happened in his life after he was done with schooling. He fell of the map for a while, content with being a scientist and doing all sorts of crazy things, but eventually he got bored with that too and decided to look for something else to do. His searches brought him to Epoch Investigations and that was just how he signed up with them, deciding that his abilities would still be useful so all the time he spent training himself wouldn't go to waste.
