Kaede Jackson took a look at Oliver as he stepped down the stage but didn't make a move to acknowledge the look that he gave her. He was one of the "ordinary" people in the university and she didn't want to be associated with him. She was beautiful and popular and she knew it very well. With a flick of her long black hair, she could attract several men, popular and unpopular. But she preferred the popular ones. People like her.
Her phone beeped and she pulled it out of the small handbag she carried with her. See you in my dorm later? It was from Oliver. But she had hidden his name under Scott. Her fingers danced over the screen of her iphone. Yeah, see you later.
Behind the curtains, Oliver was, in fact, her dearest and closest friend. While growing up, she had stood beside him and shared most things with him. Even when he had went through the difficult moments in his life, she had been there for him. To hold his hand, to provide a shoulder for him to cry on and to hear all the things that he hated and loved. But they had grown up differently. He had kept to himself and had remained "plain." While she had learned to make herself pretty and popular. And now, it felt like she was living a double life, one as Oliver's best friend and one as the popular girl in campus. To her, it served her well. It was like living the best of both worlds.
