Where the Blacktop Ends

Tyler looks at Jenna and motions for her to follow him. "Well almost time for the derby, I will give you the rundown along with the fans." He makes his way to the tower getting on the PA system once more "Ok people time to give you all a rundown of the events tonight, we are going to run 3 full size car derbies 3 truck derbies, 3 economy car derbies and subsequently 2 lcq's for each contest, after the lcq's we will run the championship derby for each class. We will have our staff making their rounds selling you whatever you want, burgers, hot dogs, fries, pop, beer, pretzels if it is on the restaurants menu we will have it out here in a cart. Now without further delay, lets get this started." Kick start my heart blares through the speakers as all the derby cars fire up and make their way to the pit, first to come out is Tim in his 1980 crown victoria. Tim whips the car around and pulls up to the wall of the derby area throwing it into park and revs the engine making it hit the rev limiter for a few seconds. He lets off the gas and shuts it off, stepping out sitting on top of the car. The next 11 drivers make their way in and hop out of their respective cars. Kick start my heart finishes up and a recording comes over the speakers. "Please stand up for the singing of our national anthem." Everybody stands up and the national anthem plays. The song finishes and it immediately goes into Fuel by Metallica, the cars fire up as the song plays. "LETS GET READY TO CRUMBLE." Tylers shouts out over the speakers. Song continues playing as the staff check the cars and they drop the flag for the first heat, immediately Tim slams the car into reverse and smashes into the person directly behind him.

Jenna watched all this from the sidelines. She could feel herself becoming more energized with every song that played, and she was glad that he remembered to play the National Anthem. She remembered the previous couple that ran the whole event only remembered every once in awhile. It bugged her a little, since her own brother had gone off to serve in the Iraq war. She didn't throw a fit about it though, and just held her tongue. When it started, Jenna leaned forward in her seat and watched intently, cheering for Tim, since he was the only person that she actually knew, even if he was mearly an acquaintance.

Tim heads towards another car but is blindsided by a Cadillac Brougham sending him spinning, he catches himself and comes around spinning the Brougham around, another person comes backing up towards the brougham smashing the front end sending it up onto a log. The crowd goes nuts, one of the refs starts the count, the crowd starts counting with him when he reaches 6 then continue counting all the way up to 10. The ref black flags him signalling he is out. "Well talk about an early elimination, say good bye to Jason Blades." The cars keep running until just 2 are left, one is Tim's and the other is the car that tag teamed on the Brougham with him.

(Hmm... then I don't get the humor in it. Explain? Haha)

Jenna yelled loudly at Tim.

"Come on! You gotta beat him! Put 'em in his place already!" The adrenaline was still pumping through her veins, the result of the high energy levels of everyone around her. She couldn't really tell who was going to turn out to be the victorious one, so she crossed her fingers and prayed for a miracle.

The airhorn blows signalling the end of the round. "Looks like Tim Derr and Joseph James are heading to the final round." Tyler calls out over the speakers. The cars pull out of the derby area and into the pit. "Alright people round 2 competitors please pull up to the entrance of the derby area, we will get started immediately." The second round competitors start making their way up to the derby area, Jeff coming up 5th, gets a massive ovation from the crowd. The rest of the competitors make their way in and turbo lover by Judas Priest starts playing with the derby.

Jenna sat on the edge of her chair, watching to see who would be victorious in this round. She figured that the person to cheer for this time would be Jeff, so she located his car and kept it in her line of vision.
