Sehra picked at her food nervously. Atem was yelling at the slaves again. In the pit of her stomach she knew this wasn't going to end well. She knew she wouldn't be able to do anything about it if it did to. She wished for the old Atem back. The one who she had only known for a few years before he'd gone back to how he'd been when his fatheer was dictating his every move. A thousand years with him being cruel and ruthless had been hard. But she was still in love with him and knew that somewhere deep down he still loved her. Though he rarely showed it. In fact he rarely showed any emotion other than frustration, annoyance, anger or depression. That or evil delight after drinking someones blood.
There was a hiss and a scream from behind her and Shera spun out of her chir to find the Pharaoh drining the blood from the poor slave he had been yelling out only a moment ago. "Atem!" she snarled at him and he dropped the body to watch her with cold empty eyes. With a sigh she sat down and continued to pick at her food. He came to stand next to her and she looked over at him. He hummed at her to get her to stand and wrapped her arms around her. "I'm sorry..." he whisppered. Sehra was scared by the sincereness in his voice. It was like he meant it but she doubted he really did. She in fact hoped he didn't. If he was. He was feeling something and this wasn't going to end well at all.
The Pharaoh continued to hum in her ear in an attempt to calm her. His mind beinglink to hers let him feel her fear. He didnd't like it. Atem himself stayed emotionless. Being connected to so many people and feeling their emotions was overwhelming. It had caused him to loose his. For this single moment though he shut off the other connections and just enjoyed being with her. These moments came few and far between. A couple of times in a centry at the most. Where he cut himself off from everything but her. He kissed her softly then re-opened his mind and became empty and cold once more.
Atem then turned tail and left the dining hall, on his way to the throne room he killed any loitering slaves he found in an attempt to feel something. With no success. Besides, what use were they if they weren't doing anything.
Over the last thousand years Atem had kept his kingdoms somewhat overly organised. Everyone had their place and everything ran smoothly. He kept an eye on the surrounding kingdoms to. Always in the back of his mind pondering wether to lash out at them and add them to his collection. He knew that if he tried he would most likely succeed. He had millions of men at his disposial and two gods on his side. Plus if the enemy had a god, he had the de-summoning tablet. Feeling empty of any emotions that were his own, as usual, he sat down on his throne and began watching over the kingdom though Horus' eyes. No way he would actually go out there. He didn't want to be near any of those commoner scum that wandered the streets. They smelt bad and with the ammount of them about he would most likely just have a spaz and drink half the city dry before Sehra could stop him.
"Atem? My Pharaoh?" a voice asked in an attempt to get his attention.
"Gah! What do you want! I'm busy!" he snaled to see Sehra standing in front of him.
"Can I get you anything Pharaoh?" she asked calmly.
"No! Go make the bed or something"
"Slaves have already done that my love"
"Go kill someone then" he snaled dismissing her with a flick of his hand. She nodded. Lent forward, kissed him on the cheek then walked off to the dungeons. Unlike him she didn't like killing randomally.
He glared at her as she went.
He found himself wanting to burn something. He wondered what he could burn and decided to burn the bed. Standing he grabbed the nearest lit torch and marched himself to the bedroom. He threw the torch onto the piece of furniture stared at it un-feeling still as it went up in flames. He felt a flicker of happiness and smiled grimmly. He liked fire. The way it moved. The way it felt. Fire and Sehra, two things that gave him vague feelings of happiness through the chaos that was his mind.
A slave happened to walk past and screamed at him in panic about how his bed was on fire. Atem muttered something under his breath and she fell to the ground dead, bleeding from her eyes. Turning around he stared at the body. No feelings. No guilt. It frustrated him that he wasn't feeling anything so he went to find Sehra deciding that perhaps fucking her might make him feel better.
It was the cycle of what happened when he did feel something. Feel something, kill people, attempt to work, burn something, fuck Sehra, kill more people until succoming to a blood rage and then finally everything went back to normal once Sehra had calmed him. A blood rage was in a lot of aspects a vampires version of getting drunk.
Normal as in being an ass to everyone and sitting on the throne most of the day dealing to various things that were of very little importance to anything. If he decided to stop working for a couple of months it would most likely go unnoticed seeing as he never went outside the palace. At lest he hadn't in the last three hundred year anyway.
Stopping in his tracks he decided something. He changed direction and stormed up to where Horus sat guard on the palace roof. "Horus, ride, now" he snaled at the god. The god replyed with an angry gurgle and spreading his wings. Horus being mentally connected to the Pharaoh knew the state he was in and wasn't keen on being around him. Atem climbed on and stood on the gods back watching his kindom strech out ahead of him. People down in the city seeing their vampiric Pharaoh for the first time in hundreds of years bowed and muttered prayers in the hope he wasn't coming out to kill them.
Atem closed his mind. Closed it from even Sehra and Horus. He suddenally felt very alone. He focused on the faint wind that was moving his cape and the sound of the city as he attemtped to feel something emotion wise.
"Where to Pharaoh?" asked Horus breaking Atem's concentration. The god was uneasy now. This was the first time ever he had not been linked to Atem, he was even linked subconsciencously. What was he planning.
"Reoneith" he stated blankly.
There was a gust of wind as the god took to the air. For the first time in ages he was going to visit somewhere outside Egypt.
"Atem you aren't leaving wtihout me" someone hissed in his ear. It was Sehra. He almost leapt out of his skin because of it and Horus let out a chuckle. This pissed off the Pharaoh but since he had cut of his mind from theirs they couldn't tell. Sehra had come as soon as he'd cut off his mind. Like Horus it deeply concerned her.
The kingdom Atem wanted to be heading to was the southern most one under his control. It was also the nearest on the where Bakura was. It was a long time since hehad talked with Bakura. Since moving south the dark ruler had not bee able to give Atem the blood barrels he once did. Atem had since been sending slaves to the torture cave in which prisoners still hanged from the walls begging to be released.
Still standing on Horus he watch the kingdom below as they repeadtitively circled. "Horus why aren't you going where I asked?" he said blankly.
"I believe you should stay her Pharaoh. You are unpredictable. We don't want you murdering everyone."
"Aww your no fun" Atem responded sarcastically crossing his arms the Pharaoh took a few steps backwards across the gods back and fell off. Sehra facepalmed. "Yup just jumped off a flying creature while your fucking miles in the fucking air" she sighed watching him. She didn't know what he was trying to do, or what point he was trying to make but it concerned her. She could understand him being bvored of the palace but, seriously. Leaping of the backs of gods, that is a bit extreme.
Sehra glanced down at the city to watch as a blood bath began where he'd landed on the ground. Horus screeched in alarm and protest. He swooped down to grab Atem. The Pharaoh dodged the talons of the giant hawk by smashing himself through the wall of a building. He mind crushed those that got to close and soon part of the city was in chaos.
With a mutter of shit Sehra leapt off Horus when he swooped low in a second failed attempt to grab Atem. "Stop it!!" she screamed at him as she lauched herself at him. She wrapped her arms around his waist and attempted to tackle him to the ground to stop him getting at a group of people he'd cornered. "Atem please, I'm here. You don't need to kill more people. Please. It isn't going to change how you feel at all" He continued to strugged against her. Clawing at her arms. She let out a scream of annoyance and frustration and let him go for a second. It was just enough time to lept onto the first person. Just before he managed to sink his teeth into the woman Sehra yanked him away by the soulder. Spun him round and kissed him. He was stunned for a second and then snarled at her.
He slapped her hard enough to send her to the ground. Then he yelled at her "Leave me alone slave! That is all you are! That is what you should have stayed! If I hadn't fallen in love with you, you'd have been killed a long time ago for being a vampire! You don't fucking know what it is like to only feell happy when you kill! And then that isn't true happiness! Today I felt something for the first time in many, many years! I felt happy! Ok! Shut up! Leave! Go! Horus! You two! Leave! You can't stop me from killing! Leave! I said LEAVE bitch! That is what you are! My bitch and a slave! Fucking leave! Get out of my sight and stay out!" he stood panting for a moment before screaming at her to leave again. Sehra lay there for a few more moments before locking eyes with him no matter how much they scared her right now.
"What you said changes nothing of how I feel, plus, note the fact that you're only alive because I bit you. One because by now you would be long dead of old age if your father hadn't killed you first. I'm the reason you were able to kill your father ok. Look, maybe we should have a holiday. Leave the palace and the city for a couple of days, or a month..."
Atem shoved her to the ground again and loomed over her snarling. "I told you to shut the fuck up bitch!" he shouted at her. He then turned tail and stormed in the direction of the palace. People who saw him coming hid in their houses to avoid him.
Sehra just lay there watching him go. Never before had he gone off at her that badly.
"What am I going to do with him Horus?" she asked the god with a sigh.
"Stick with him, he needs you, otherwise he would have killed all his subjects by now"
"I guess your right" she muttered before turning her head to look at the frightened people in the corner. Atem linked his mind to her for a second while she was looking at them and left her a singular message.
"I love you but don't let that make you think you can stop me wanting to slaughter people, you know how tasty they are"
Then he left her mind again. She shivered letting out a shakey breath. The frightened people now calming a little shakerly bowed to their queen and the god. Getting to her feet she took a deep breath them bowed to them putting them into a state of shock somewhat. She then climbed back onto Horus' and the great hawk spread its wings and took flight.
"Horus why didn't you want him to leave?" Sehra said.
"I fear that if he leaves, he will get himself killed. The way he is currentally. When he has no link to either of us so we can't change his mind on stuff. He is like a boulder on the edge of a cliff, a single nudge and the concequences could be worse then what just happened"
"But he's so stressed here, you know that. The two of us had the strongest mental bonds with him we could practically listen to his every thought if we wanted"
"Yes I know. But perhaps with his mind 'un-hooked' from everyone elses he'll have time to figgure himself out"
"That or get worse"
"Yes, that is equilly posible"
Horus landed on the roof of the palace taking up his normal spot. Sehra still sat on his back. Horus dug his claws into the clay blocks that made up the building in stress.
"Horus, I'm becoming afraid of him"
"He won't hurt you. Just don't let him rage like that again and you'll be fine"
"I don't think I could be able to prevent that happening Horus, His mind is his and without being connected to it I can't sway his emotions"
"You can sway his emotions without the bond Sehra"
"Though I fear if I tried that, I would sway them for the worse"
"Wait for him to calm down, then talk to him. Perhaps you should avoid him for the next couple of days"
"What if he doesn't calm Horus!? What if he stays like this! Grabs his horse! and travels off to some other kingdom and slaughters them all in a blood rage! He might even get himself killing in doing so!"
"We would just have to hope he doesn't then"
"Go make sure he isn't killing anyone darling. Keep out of his way though"
"Very well Horus"
She dismounted the giant bird she then baid him fairwell before going inside.
"Now if I was Atem, pissed off, blood thirsty and not wanting to interact with anyone, where would I be?" she muttered.
Wandering about the halls for a while she soon found dad bodies sucked dry of blood. She took breath and went to go ahead. But before she could do anything she found herself being slammed against the nearest wall. The nearby torch through her chest. He continued to hold her but only for a spilt second. For Sehra that split second felt like an enternity as she locked eyes with hi,. She searched his eyes for any sign of remorse but they didn't show any emotion at all. For a moment she thought she'd seen something but his gaze flicked away as he ripped the tourch out of her again. She collapsed to the floor. Atem standing there staring at her dying in front of him. "I told you to leave" he muttered. She looked up at him. He flinched away from her gaze as guilt hit him. "I didn't stake you through the heart, you'll live. For now. But I recormend that you leave..."
He then turned his back on her and began to walk away. "Pack up your stuff. I give you an hour to leave my empire"
With that he was gone. It was over. But she had seen that flinch. She gulped and struggled onto all fours. Where could she go now? She heaved herself to her feet and pressed a hand to the wound. Black vampiric blood oozed from it. Blood made of the blood of others. Composing herself the queen, or what seemed now ex-queen, turned tail and made a beeline for the royal chamber where her stuff was.
She got their to see the smouldering bed. Other flamable items had caught fire but slaves had put it out mostly. Into her pack she crammed as much as she could. She changed from her royal garments to travelling clothes and attached a couple of flip swords to her belt. On her way out she passed by Kallens room. Snatching paper and ink she wrote in english. ((Their in Egypt they normally speak egyptian))
Atem has kicked me from the empire. Be carefull. His mind is unstable and he in turn is unpredictable. I'm counting on you to make sure he doesn't do anything to extreme.
With that she took her horse form the stables and fled.
"Bitch think she can control me!" Atem snarled watching from the shadows. Any trace of what had once been kindness had over the last hour vanished. Somewhere deep within he felt regret. He had felt it when he'd banished her to. But pushed the stupid feeling aside. She was a distraction. Not a help. His mind currentally was a battle field. Two version of who he was tore at each other in an attempt to take control. One was how he was brought up to be, brutal, mean, power hungry, blood thirsty, the domonant one. The other was the version of himself was kind, fun loving and generally a good person. Right now it was ovious who was winning this fight . That was the one who had just banished his own wife from his empire.
