I forgot to ask this. How young are human characters allowed to be?
[QUOTE=Pockets;6365732]Shattered Lines: The Expansion
Long before even the most distant recorded history, the world was a very different place from what is seen today. The creatures of myths and legends freely roamed the land, waring and loving as they would. The Elves kept mostly to their forest homes. The dwarves to the subterranean keeps. The Dragon, the tops of the highest mountains in Loringael.
Other peoples made their home around the world. Including the youngest, yet most rapidly growing in number.
Mankind was very young compared to the Elves and the Dragons yet they bred at an alarming rate. Consuming resources in vast quantities and fighting for land and treasure. Eventually man came to distrust the races he shared his world with and that distrust eventually exploded into war.
The fighting lasted for decades, centuries even. Finally, having seen enough bloodshed, Aegis, The Great Dragon called for a meeting of the most powerful Mages, Wizards and sorcerers of all the magical races.
He informed them that something had to be done. But man could not just be wiped out. For all the other races strengths, the elves long lives, the dwarves great strength and the dragons powerful magic humans had one trait that they all lacked. Mankinds greatest strength lay in their ability to adapt. And that flexibility of thinking would one day be instrumental to the safety of all.
So they did the next best thing. They sealed themselves away. As the spell was cast lines of magic stretched out across the globe and everywhere inside the lines was pulled away to form another world. In so doing as the seals went up the world shrank to roughly 1/5 its actual size and on that smaller chunk of rock, man was left to rebuild.
Man were not the only creatures left outside the wards however. A few beings were trapped in mans world that did not belong. A tribe of the Wild Elves. Half of them hid themselves away, like the others. But the other half married amongst the humans till eventually all visible trace of their elven heritage was lost.
Man was to be sealed off from the world of magic u til such a time as they had matured as a race and could exist more peacefully amongst their magically gifted brethren. Such a time has not yet come to pass. However it is too late. The seals, which were never meant to be permanent have weakened beyond their ability to sustain themselves.
On January 15, 2012, the seals began to break.
Your characters start the first morning of The Expansion as Earth begins to grow to resume its original shape. Cities will be torn apart. Power lines, cell phones and general phone communication is lost the world over. Planes are forced to make emergency landings when their destinations are suddenly no longer where they're supposed to be.
Dragons, hipogryphs, harpies, naga and other mythical creatures are seen out in the open and for the first time on thousands of years man is forced face to face with the world they lost.
Characters may be human or any of the classic fantasy races. I'll accept some unusual ones but nothing too crazy. I would like a somewhat even mixture of human and fantasy characters, anyone willing to play more than one character is welcome to do so. I will be throwing in several creatures of my own creation. Some of them may be helpful, others are decidedly not.
PLEASE try to keep up a reasonably steady post rate. Not too slow or too fast. I would really like to get through all three of the rps planned for this story.
Fantasy characters please start with reasonably basic equipment. There will be opportunities to find or purchase armor and weapons of epic strength in game.
Human characters. Please, no one own a gun shop or anything crazy, let's keep it somewhat plausible.
Humans will have some access to weapons and modern tech but keep in mind after the expansion things like cell phones, electricity and so on are almost totally gone. Power lines and oil lines were destroyed so most of the world is without power and all the old streets and freeways have been destroyed. Gas will also be tricky to come by.
Wild Elves- Wild Elves are distantly related to sun elves, wood elves and High Elves. The Wild Elves are just as long lived as their cousins but almost as in tune with nature as humans are. They're known as Wild Elves because as a race they chose to live in the most uninhabitable environments on Loringael. High mountains, deserts, volcanoes, deadly swamps and jungles. They sacrificed much of their affinity for nature to instead harness more purely destructive magics. Each Wild Elf is born with a special affinity to a certain element. Earth, air, fire, water, wood, lightning or metal. They have the ability to summon and control that particular element in various ways as well as great success with magics that use that particular Element. Only one metal user allowed as it is a VERY rare talent.
They range to about average height, 5' 6''-6' and are omnivores eating both plants and meat like humans.
Blood Elves - incredibly rare because their particular magic terrifies the other races, even Aegis the Great Dragon and oldest living thing on Loringael. Blood Elves, as their name suggests, have light red skin, black hair, range about 6' in height or more typically and have the ability to control blood. Their own and others. When cut a Blood Elf can cause their blood to immediately coagulate around the wound, thus limiting any loss of blood. Before battle they will usually prick their fingers and turn that blood into razor sharp claws. As they cut their enemies they use their opponents blood to create larger weapons like sword or axes. The most frightening ability they posses though is what happens if they get a drop of their blood into your body. Once even a single drop has been introduced into the enemies system they then have complete control of your blood from any distance.
They can cause your heart to burst. Or your blood to slowly coagulate. They can kill you slowly or quickly at their whim and there is no true defense.
Blood elves are also carnivores. Typically but not always eating what they hunt raw.
Dragon Kin: basically think a Half Dragon. Humanoid shape, scales, claws and teeth. No actual wings for Kin, sorry flight is still reserved for birds and dragons. Dragon Kin are however very strong and fast as well as possessing some of the same magic as their dragon halves. Most noteably their breath weapon. Color corresponds to weapon type.
Gold- lava bombs
Breath weapons can only be used twice per day. They have a thirty foot by ten foot range except for the golds that spit explosive grenades basically made of molten rock, limit ten per day.
Players may play as a human from outside the barrier. A magical from inside the barrier or a magical from outside. If you were outside though you need to have a good story as to how your people remained hidden. No one may be old enough to have been around before the barrier went up.
Age limits are 300 for elves and 500 for dragon kin. Makes you roughly the equivalent of a mid thirties human.
Education/skills: (human only)
Don't need a college thesis just a quick basic history the rest will be learned in game.
Character interaction is encouraged. Romances are fine as long as they don't take too much away from moving the story along. Please if it goes beyond an R rating take it to PMs
I believe thats all for the moment.
Oh sorry I forgot to mention. I may limit things to only ONE Blood Elf. It depends. I have yet to decide on that. The Blood elf is also rather important to the plot line so whoever plays one would also have to be a Co-GM as they will need information not given to the rest of the party.
Ok so further rules. Posting speed and romances have been mentioned. Basically im looking for common sense here people. No God Modding or ridiculous behavior. Keep things civil and try to remember we are all here to have fun. More than anything that is our main goal.
That said there is one final rule that is at the GM's discretion. I call it my Cinder Block Rule. This rule states basically thus, any player viewed to be antagonistic, rude, or generally just being a douche will receive three warnings after your third warning your character will most likely find a random cinder block dropping out of a clear blue sky to crush their skulls and you will be out of the RP.
Thus far I have never had to actually USE the Cinder Block Rule. Please let's keep it that way.
Alright let's get those CS up here and get cracking. :-)
Feel free to ask any questions and I encourage creativity. If you're not sure about something just run it by me and we'll see what we can do.
That but red scales instead of blue
Race: Dragon Kin
Weapons/equipment: Plate mail breast plate, bracers and greaves. One Hand and a half sword hanging from his left hip and one long sword at his right.
History: Joc grew up on Aegean in a small village at the base of the Talons Chasm. He heard missionaries from the Church of light as a hatchling and listened to stories about Aegis and the world that once existed before Humans were sealed away.
When he was 100 and considered a young adult by the terms of his people he went to Aegis and requested to work for the Great Dragon as his representative in the outside world. Aegis' great size and age means that it is difficult for him ti travel to speak to others and with Joc's help he was able to reach more people than he ever had before.
I forgot to ask this. How young are human characters allowed to be?
(Little bit of a trashed up picture, but you get the idea of him.)
Name : Sil'Vex
Race : Blood Elf
Gender : Male
Weapons/equipment: Primary Weapon: Silv'ex mostly uses his own blood and the blood of others as his weapons, anything from blood spikes, to great axes pending on the situation.
Secondary : Carries a battle sickle slung around his waist:
Equipment: Carries an array of different blood that he stores in vials. Throughout his years he has gained a collection of different blood types, some thicker than others, some green in color or blue pending on the creatures it was drawn from.
An old leather bound journal he writes in that was handed down to him by someone he can't remember
Having been misjudged from young, Silv'ex Doesn't hold on to much of a history or it has long been forgotten. Instead a compilation of poetry, thoughts, revelations he has logged over the years aside from whatever original writings were in his journal when it was given him. Many of those notes have been written in an ancient Dialect unfamiliar to Silv'ex but they are clearly written in blood. Countless years of solitude have left him a bit of a social disaster and he often struggles with trusting others due to centuries of mistreatment by other races.

Name : Keldarious
Race Dragon Kin
Age : 350
Weapons/equipment: Great Axe and a small mace
Blue Dragon Kin
History : Keldarious is the youngest sibling of a noble blood line and has been well educated and is adapt in combat however his older siblings and father have attempted to groom him to succeed them all eventually, but Keldarious is not very interested in the nobility of his family and would much prefer to live how he sees fit. Those that are an ally to him, need not fear, but those that are an enemy had better pay attention. He sacrifices some brute strength for heightened speed, reflexes and acrobatics. He is proficient enough with great axe that he can wield it almost the same speed as most would handle a single handed weapon.

OK let me know what you think Pockets
I'll be competing with you for the blood elf spot, Affili. I'll probably have a character sheet up later today.

@Affili both characters are fine. You can play as both ir either one. If Loom wants the Blood Elf its up to you guys to hash things out. Not to seem to be singling anyone out but Loom can I count on you to be in this for the long haul?
On another note I would like to get a map together for this rp but it will be QUITE an undertaking. This is the planet earth five times bigger with all kinds of crazy extra land thrown in. No current land masses will be recognizable practically. Except Australia. It will be exactly the same as it is now.
So I'll be doing my best to give a rough idea of what's going on and id rather if all of us start out in the United States. Or what was the vicinity of the states. I'll be doing as detailed an explanation as I can of how the lan was changed including new oceans and such. It wont be pretty but I'll try.
Actually, Affili can have the Blood Elf. There is probably a high possibility that I'd have to drop out later.
Name: Apróra "Néma"
Age: 70 (about 33 in human years)
Large brown bag which hangs over her shoulders and resting on her back, inside:
Small pouch for water
-Few Choices of Herbs (All mostly for her favorite hobby, cooking. However she has been carrying around Nightshade lately)
Cooking pan- While Nema is known to enjoy cooking, it hasn't been unheard of using the heavy pan to defense and attack when time calls for it. She is quite handy with it.
The blade is best described as a hidden silver claw made for approaching the victim from behind and taking care of them quick and easy. The weapon was made from metal, however the final cover was coated with a very fine layer of Diamond, making it hard to break, and sometimes difficult to sharpen. She carries one for each hand, never do they seen to leave from her grasp, at least not for long.
From the time of her birth Nema has been very small, even small for Siren standards. As she grew, something else seemed amiss. She spoke very little. What words she could speak she could not speak them very loudly. Once her flock learned of this deformity she was casted out from her nest. They deemed she could not possibly be fit to survive the harsh world. From day one she had to fight even more to gain. By the time she was Fifty years old, Nema returned to her flocks territory. She proved herself as a most fearsome Siren warrior. It took three years, one by one she took down members of the flock, ending their lives, deeming them unfit just as they did to her. Even her own mother and father met their doom, along with them her grown brothers and sisters. Her heart was made of stone, more so than the average Siren, or so she makes people believe. Nema tends to follow whoever wishes to use her services, no fees, just the company of someone or something.
I still want to work on her. Something is missing. Also what was your decision on the wings? At the very most, to be honest, I think she would do more gliding than flying. Also if there is something amiss to you about her, please tell me

Name: Karl'vum Estradum Brian Erikson the 117th aka 'Karl'
Age: 237 (32 in human years)
Weapons/equipment: Karl carries around his standard issue librarians mace and a standard issue round shield across his back. He often wears hard boiled leathers with a ring mail overshirt, the weight being no hinderance for a dwarf.
As for equipment Karl carries around his research papers, ink, fresh paper, librarian lantern (uses a non-flammable flame), a couple of favourite scrolls and a book repair kit.
History: Karl was born in the dwarven city of Kastravum into the prosperous Erikson family. His family business is the smelting and extraction of iron and lead ores from the raw ore produced in the city. The familys secret techniques have made them experts at extracting the most out of the raw ore and can produce almost 40% top quality ore than their next competator.
Having several older brothers Karl was happy to have them take over the family business when thier father passed on. Karl had always prefered reading and spending time in the cities great library, so when an opportunity came for him to work there he jumped at the chance. Karl particularly enjoys the legends surrounding humans and has spent several years researching the ancient stories and lore surrounding the old menace.

OK there we go one dwarven librarian. The character sheet seems a little thin on the ground but then I suppose that is the joy of discovering things during the RP.
I was unsure of what 32 human years old would be in dwarven years. Fantasy is somewhat divided on their relative age, some make them near immortals and others have them aging the same as humans but with a longer life span of around 110 being common.
DYING OF FOOD POISONING. I WILL BE BACK AS SOON AS I RECOVER, SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE CAUSED.
THANK YOU LILLIAN THORNE FOR THE SIG
