    Stuck OOC

In May of 2022 an innovation known as -NevGear- revolutionized the gaming industry. Humans could now truly connect to a realistic virtual world. This connection is called a "Full Dive"

Nevgear only has one method of input. It is shaped like a helmet that covers most of the users face. Inside, millions of signal units generate electromagnetic waves to stimulate our brains.

Nothing the user sees and hears in the virtual world actually comes from our eyes and ears. Everything is manipulated directly in the respective parts of our brains used to process each of the five sences. Sound, sight, smell, touch and taste.

"Full Dive" just like its name implies, completely sincronizes the users sences to the game to provide them with an entierly immersive experiance.

When using NevGear all signals that are sent from the brain are blocked and processed so they only affect the avatar in the virtual world. This immobalizes the users physical body . So there is no risk of running into walls in the real world while playing in the virtual one.

Sword art online is set in an aincrad, a floating world consistant of many levels. It includes grasslands, forests, lakes, villages and even markets.

However, magic, an essential part in any game, is non existant in this world. Instead there are countless moves called "Sword skills". Players will rely on these skills when they are fighting gaurdians and monsters to get through all 100 levels in the floating tower.

So what happens when the log out button suddenly disappears? What happens when the creator of the game tells the users that the cant get out untill someone reaches the 100th level? When they are told that death in game means death in real life?

What happens when we get stuck.... In game?

Seeing as I assume most of the characters in this RP are gonna be hardcore gamers or no lives (not the person RPing, the character's I mean), I think I'mma go for a casual gamer.

Name: In real life, Alan Gemcity. In game, Feather, named after the main character in his series of books.

Age: 42. I would not be surprised if I was the oldest one here.

    Gender: Male

Avatar Level: 45. (Essentially, whatever the equivalent of "midlevel" is. Not sure where that is exactly)

    In Game Skill: First Aid

    Real life Appearance:

    Avatar Appearance:

    Personality(On/offline):

    On:
Having been gaming for over 30 years, the basic mechanics of the new MMO were pretty familiar. Grind, do quests, level up, get better gear, repeat. Of course, the fact that he was practically in the game itself was quite a major difference, and made it much more immersive. He found himself having a ton of fun whenever he played, and was able to level up quite fast to where he is now. However, he hasn't really become of any particular fame or infamy as of yet, since he followed the rules and mostly kept a low profile. He didn't play with friends, he mostly just joined random instances with random people, rarely seeing a face twice. And, since he was only around mid level, he wasn't known for that either.

He usually did play in a group, however, and usually took the support role. His first-aid specialization helped in this regard, as he usually healed others quite a bit, but he also did combat quite a bit, and enjoyed both equally.

He also preferred to not share his info on who he was; mostly because it was an MMO and talking about your real life on an MMO is asking to be conned, but also because he didn't want to become instantly famous just because he wrote books in the real world, rather choosing to stay anonymous on the internet. Occasionally, someone would catch the reference from his character's name, and ask him about it, to which he'd reply that he was just an "avid reader of his works" rather than admitting he was the author.

OFF: Alan grew up in a lonely town in southern USA, somewhere in Texas. As such, life was slow and, as far as Alan was concerned, quite boring. He made few friends, rather Alan spent most of his time with his face buried in a book. He never had a favorite genre or type, but he found himself drawn to old classics usually. Stephen King's The Stand, To Kill A Mockingbird, and Hamlet are some of his favorite works. As he grew up in the late 80's to early 90's, he also played video games, too, but not as much as he read books. His tastes in video games were just as eclectic as his tastes in books, but again he found himself drawn to the older ones.

As he came into his adult years after finishing high school it was only natural he got into writing books, seeing as he spent the majority of his time reading. He, however, got lucky. His first book sold quite a few copies, making him successful as a small-time writer. His sequel to the first was even moreso, even going as far as to win a few awards. His most recent book, which was published in 2018, is his best seller yet, breaching 1 million copies sold! Needless to say, he lived a financially comfortable life for the most part.

His love life, on the other hand, was a different matter. After being married to a woman he loved when he was 21, it didn't last. 5 years down the road, and they were arguing and fighting; never violently, but always loudly and explosively. Finally, when he was 27, 6 years after he got married, they got a divorce. Alan, since then, hadn't found another woman to marry. He hasn't been entirely inactive; he did get quite a few girlfriends, it's just that none of them stuck around longer than a few months. Luckily, he does have quite a few friends to keep him going, even if his love life is a disaster.

As mentioned earlier, despite being an author at heart, he still loved to play video games from time to time, and when he heard about this virtual reality game, he was able to scrape up the money for it pretty easily. He figured it might help him get over his writer's block, at the least.

    Occupation: Author.

Name: Eddy Clarke. In game he is known as Grognak The Barbarian.

    Age: Seventeen.

    Gender: Male

    Avatar Level: Fifty-two.

    In Game Skill: Fishing.

Real life Appearance: Eddy is your average nerd. Thick rimmed glasses, pimple covered face. He has thin bones, his clothes are never very 'in'. His hair is a bit dirty most of the time and he's just plain not attractive. He has dark brown hair and cyan eyes. He mainly wears just a t-shirt and jeans, never anything fancy of course. His glasses are a need so that he can see, and sadly they are thick and bulky. He's your average nerd, nothing special to him, he'll blend into a crowd rather than stand out.

Avatar Appearance: His avatar on the other hand is a special case. Pretty much the exact opposite of his normal appearance, Eddy chose the visage of a strong and muscled man. Blonde wavy hair covers his head while his face is finely sculpted and very beautiful and manly. His avatar stands at about 6'6" and has rippling muscles covering his chest. Eddy decided to choose something that would make him look strong and important, a fantasy of his. The result is a beautiful appearance fit for a hero. His avatar wears simple leather armor that isn't afraid to show off his chest.

Personality(On/offline): As you would expect from a nerd like Eddy, he's not too sociable. Much of his life was spent away from the crowds at school and stuck at home, on the computer. He was playing World of Warcraft even before it came out, so he knows the gist of MMOs. While he was off inside raiding castles as a level eighty nightmage, all the other kids were out playing football and shopping. Still, he enjoys his life and wouldn't miss something as changing as Full Dive. In game, however, he changes dramatically. He is no longer a little nerd, he's Grognak! Mighty and strong, feared by all evil and praised by good. Also renowned as a world class fisherman. Don't forget about that feat.

OFF: Eddy was born in a small town in Ohio. As expected, his un-sociableness led to him being cast as one of the school nerds. Which lead to him staying away from the social life of most kids and sticking inside, playing video games. Every new game was his, whether it be gotten from un-mentionable methods or just begging his parents to buy the game for him. When Full Dive came out, Eddy couldn't resist buying it as soon as it came on shelves. But, of course his parents had the final straw and refused to buy it for him. Unable to get it by his other methods, the only option left was a job.

It was pretty simple, a job engraving trophies. It was hard work, but it kept him occupied and it paid enough so that when the time came when Full Dive was out, he was one of the first in line to purchase the game.

ON: In game, Grognak is a hero to the people. He fights monsters for anyone who asks him to, and will do any quest. He's never turned down one before. And he often teams up with other heroes to take down top-end bosses. He owns several banks filled with phat l00t as well and keeps a good selection of equipment and often gives out stuff to the newbies as well.

    Occupation: Engraver.

    Sword:

My name, good sir or madam, is Sir Beowulf The Third, Esquire, I expect you to call me as so.

So, now we have a novelist with crap luck when it comes to women, a doctor-in-training with a dead family, and Nerdy McNerdypants. I'm liking the variety so far! :3

    Name: Lahir Christian Overbough
    In-Game Name: Phoenix
    Age: 25
    Gender: Male
    Avatar Level: 61
    In Game Skill: Archery
    Real life Appearance:

    Avatar Appearance:

    Personality(On/offline):

On: Phoenix is calculating, cunning, and analytic. He is able to carefully look past his feelings and see the real situation at hand. He is extremely perceptive, able to quickly recognize the patterns and mistakes that his opponents make. Phoenix has a very kind heart. He is caring, strong willed and determined. In the face of adversity, Phoenix has the uncommon ability to shun all emotions and shine a blank slate. He also has a tendency to plan for all possible futures, one that may or may not be, because he believes that nothing is ever certain and that you must be prepared.

OFF: Lahir is very outspoken and comfortable with who he is. His bisexuality is something that his adoptive parents have come to terms with. He has some anger issues that he has to work on. Sometimes he can be a little blunt and straight forward, and it gets him into trouble sometimes, but he keeps it real with everyone he converses with. If he doesn't like someone, he will tell them why. He is not one to lie for no reason. He is not ashamed of who he is. He is not ashamed of who he is attracted to. He loves being who he is. There were times when he was growing up that he felt ashamed, but that feeling has since gone, replaced with pride. Lahir is quite the book to read, and sometimes he will hide parts of his personality depending on the situation.

Name: Richard Petty (Goes by Petty, or "Gl4r3" (Glare))

    Age: 23

    Gender: Male

    Avatar Level: 60

    In Game Skill: Archaeology

Real life Appearance: Unknown, Profile Image inaccurate

    Avatar Appearance:

    Personality:
ON: Glare is a quiet fellow. Doesn't say much but is always watching. Is usually more persistent than others, and enjoys tackling problems from an out-of-the-box perspective. Glare is a fierce duelist, and it often gets him into trouble because he has little to no defense. Glare is a firm believer in the age old saying "The best defense is to not be there." Glare is often found prowling about the first level looking for something, but he never says what it is or why he's looking for it. Other players have looked with him, but to no avail. Glare is also rumored to have made it as far up as level 10, but most folks are pretty sure that's just rumor.

OFF: Public profile simply says "Beware the Glare." Metagamically speaking (Yes, that's a real word now), Rich was fascinated by computers at a young age. Often complained about his school's AP Computer Programing classes being "Too easy." He got a job as a video game designer at a rival company, and was one of the lead programers on the counter to Sword Art Online (As well as one of the first Beta Testers), thus he is familiar with a lot of the code. When he purchased the game, He only modified a select few strands and left the rest alone (Those strands being his apperance, his weapon's apperance, and he added a "Debug window") He added the debug window as a wearable accessory for sh*ts and giggles, as he is unable to actually USE it in-game. He can detect variances in the code that dictate where loot and enemies are, but he can only determine that it's there, not where or what it is. As previously mentioned, he can't edit the code in-game, and even if he could, he has no idea how to fix the life-threatening problem of the missing log-out button.
