In May of 2022 an innovation known as -NevGear- revolutionized the gaming industry. Humans could now truly connect to a realistic virtual world. This connection is called a "Full Dive"
Nevgear only has one method of input. It is shaped like a helmet that covers most of the users face. Inside, millions of signal units generate electromagnetic waves to stimulate our brains.
Nothing the user sees and hears in the virtual world actually comes from our eyes and ears. Everything is manipulated directly in the respective parts of our brains used to process each of the five sences. Sound, sight, smell, touch and taste.
"Full Dive" just like its name implies, completely sincronizes the users sences to the game to provide them with an entierly immersive experiance.
When using NevGear all signals that are sent from the brain are blocked and processed so they only affect the avatar in the virtual world. This immobalizes the users physical body . So there is no risk of running into walls in the real world while playing in the virtual one.
Sword art online is set in an aincrad, a floating world consistant of many levels. It includes grasslands, forests, lakes, villages and even markets.
However, magic, an essential part in any game, is non existant in this world. Instead there are countless moves called "Sword skills". Players will rely on these skills when they are fighting gaurdians and monsters to get through all 100 levels in the floating tower.
So what happens when the log out button suddenly disappears? What happens when the creator of the game tells the users that the cant get out untill someone reaches the 100th level? When they are told that death in game means death in real life?
What happens when we get stuck.... In game?
Prior to official launch, «Sword Art Online» Closed Beta was available to 1000 beta testers for a one month period from August to September of 2022. During that period, «Sword Art Online» was lauded as an incredible experience, and it received extremely positive reviews despite the actual difficulty of the game (over the one month period, the Beta Testers only reached the 8th floor). After the Closed Beta Tested ended, the Beta Testers were given the opportunity to pre-order the game.
*As a complete virtual reality MMORPG, the SAO system is capable of rendering the entire Aincrad environment with incredible realism. By stimulating nerves in the brain, it is possible to taste food, feel the wind and weather, move one's body, and live in SAO as if it were an alternate reality. While playing Sword Art Online, gamers still feel fatigue and hunger (even if their real bodies are not hungry). As a result, it is an absolute necessity for all players to eat and sleep within the game. However, there is never a need to defecate or go to the bathroom. The SAO system generally censors mature or unhealthy content (smoking, sexual intercourse, etc), but it is even possible for players to disable the censor if «Ethics Code Off» is selected on the options menu.
Death or deletion in the game is visualized by fragmentation into thousands of polygon shards. All monsters, items, and players that have their HP or durability reduced to zero, disappear and fragment into polygons in such a fashion.
In a player's display, without accessing any skills, one can see several interfaces.
The health bar is located on the upper left corner of one's field of vision. It displays the health of the player, name, numerical HP (8120/8120), and level. It also shows the heath and names of all other members one's party in a smaller bar.
A clock displaying Aincrad local time can be seen in the bottom left corner of the visual field.
A cursor interface can be over every NPC, monster, and player in the game. This cursor is either green (for players), orange (for players with criminal infractions), yellow (for NPCs), or red (monsters). During battle, the health bar of monsters can be seen around the targeted enemy, as well as the name of the monster. Bosses typically have multiple health bars. As for a monster that level is too far apart, health bars of that monster will be unable to see and instead indicated with 'unknown'.
The main menu is the primary means of accessing a player's items, maps, skills, and inventory.
It can be accessed by putting one's right index finger and thumb together, then pulling downwards. Immediately afterwards, a ringing sound is heard and a shining purple rectangle appears. There are five category options: inventory/equipment, friends/guild, messaging/chat, maps/quest, settings/main-menu. These five category icons scroll, and the category being accessed moves to the top.
Inventory/equipment: The icon for the category is a character icon. This is the default screen when opening the Menu interface. The left screen is an image of the body, with multiple points that allow the gamer to equip items or clothes. The right screen has three sub-menus:
* Equipment: Selecting this sub-menu will open another three sub-menu:
Weapons: The icon for this category is a sword like the one used in Equipment.
Equipped: The icon for this category is armor.
Accessory: The icon for this category is a necklace.
* Items: Selecting this sub-menu will open an additional scrolling screen on the left that lists all items. When an item is selected, it materializes in front of the player. The inventory turns red when a player has too many items.
* Skills: Selecting this sub-menu will open additional scrolling screen on the left that lists all skills of the player.
Friends/Guild: The icon for the category is two character icons together. The right screen has three sub-menus:
Party: Selecting this sub-menu will open three additional options. The first is "Create", the second is"Invite", and the third is "Dissolve".
Friend: Selecting this sub-menu will reveal a list of a player's friends. Selecting a single friend will produce three additional options: "Message Box", "Position Check", and "Profile".
Messaging/Chat: The icon for the category is two chat box icons together. The icon flashes automatically whenever a player receives a message. Apparently messages cannot be send to player who is currently in the dungeon.
Maps/Quest: The icon for the category is a balloon location icon.*
Settings/Main-menu: The icon for the category is a gear. The right screen has three sub-menus:
* Help: Selecting "Help" will call a GM (Game Master) in the left screen.
* Logout: The logout button is missing during the first day of SAO launch. Consequently, the left-screen is also completely blank.

Real life Appearance:
Name: Isabella Carrie known as "Ikumi" In game
Avatar Level: 70
In Game Skill: Black Smith
Real life Appearance:
Avatar Appearance (I made it anime on purpose, you DON'T HAVE TO):
On: When she first logged into the game, Ikumi was mesmerized by the art, the technology, everything. At level 0, she started at the bottom most level, wandering around trying to figure out the rules of the game. Her curious mind quickly became bored of the simple level and she wanted to move on, but there was one problem. A level 5 monster stood blocking the first gate, and Ikumi, was still level zero. Trying her hardest to suck up to the stronger levels, Ikumi followed them like a lost puppy dog, only to be left behind over and over. Eventually she gave up. She got tired of spending month after month stuck on the first damn level. Why wouldn’t anyone help her cross? She didn’t know. She settled for the degrading act of killing livestock that was programmed to live on the first level. Eventually she became level five, eventually she crossed the gate. Eventually she promised that she would work alone, work alone like she had been working in her real life. Eventually she became famous.
Ikumi was famous. First she was known for inventing her own saw blade, a task that was nearly impossible, as it involved a blacksmith skill of the highest level. Ikumi made her sword after many failed attempts, the first wouldn't turn on. The next wouldn’t turn off, and so on. But finally she had the perfect sword. But that wasn't all she was known for. She was known for playing the game, the game that was built to require teamwork and strategies that involved multiple members, all by herself. Alone.
Isabella grew up mostly on her own. Her parents often traveled out of town on business trips. They traveled to different countries at least once a month, and Isabella was stuck with her older brother. Tim. He was always looking after her, even though he made fun of her and called her names. But when Isabella had just graduated high school and gotten a job as a waitress, her brother received a job offer and moved away. Isabella didn’t blame him, she was used to it. The same year she got a letter in the mail, saying that her parents had died. On the way to another meeting in Europe, the plane crashed. This time, Tim didn’t come home. Isabella moved on, choosing not to have a funeral, choosing to keep her head up as she kept her life moving.
Isabella was in medical college when the game came out. She had been a gamer all her life, collecting things like the ancient Atari, which in 2035, could no longer be found. She had games from her grandparents, who thought the GameBoy was the coolest toy of their time. When she heard a real virtual reality game was coming out, she started saving her money.
