Sara let Xi carry her. She couldn't tell if he was in pain or not. She hadn't learned all of his expressions yet. She watched as he plowed through the underbush instead of cutting it down. She made herself useful and plucked the leaves off of his spikes and threw them down. It was boring being carried the whole time and so she felt like making herself useful. Soon the sun began to sink and the forest grew darker. She knew that they would have to find a cave.

Xi stopped when it started growing dark, and looked up at the sky. Through the leaves he could see it changing colors. For a long while he just stood there watching as clouds floated by, turning pink and purple with the setting sun. His jaw was dropped in wonder, revealing his sharp teeth...

Sara looked up when Xi stopped. She smiled. "It's called a sunset, beautiful isn't it? This is what happens when day turns into night. It's called dusk while in the morning it's a sunrise and called dawn. It's the opposite of what is happening now." She explained to him. She knew that Project X was smart and would figure out what she was saying and the meanings behind it all.

"Beautiful..." Xi murmured, not able to take his eyes from the sky. That word, it sounded right for it. For all this around them. "That's... beautiful. Woods, beautiful. Sunset is beautiful," yes the word fit perfectly to how he felt for these things...

Sara grinned as it finally made sense. He hadn't known the word to describe what he was seeing. He didn't know what beautiful was. Now that he did, she could put together what Xi was saying earlier. She smiled at him. "Yes they are. They are very beautiful." She responded in a gentle voice as she looked up at the sunset. They were surrounded by beauty.

Xi then looked down at Sara, her face still smudged by blood and tears, her hair in disarray. And yet...
He shifted her so he could hold her with one arm, then stroked her cheek with the other.

Sara felt Xi's hand on her cheek and looked at the creation. She blushed as he called her beautiful. She gently touched his hand, leaning her head into his touch. Her eyes closed. "Thank you, Xi. You are very lovely." She said in response. She knew he wouldn't know exactly what she had meant. "I'm sorry I had to put you through all that testing, I had no choice." She said in a very soft voice. It sounded sad.

Sara smiled at Xi. She was glad that he didn't want her to apologize. She leaned her head against his uninjured shoulder. She grinned up at the man as he walked slowly in the woods. She held her tongue though. She didn't know if he knew that she had been the head scientist, that she had been the one to over see the whole project. She smiled at the creation as they continued on.

The sun was almost gone when they stumbled across a cave. Xi looked at it for a moment. It was like the place they had come from, with a tunnel, but it wasn't smooth and cornered. It was rough and rounded. Xi started inside, but found it drastically darker. He waited a moment, and then his special vision kicked on, a special vision that allowed him to see in complete darkness. Xi went into the cave a bit further before setting Sara down...
