    Elder Myth and Legends (IC)

Miarenus kept her ward up as she waited for Elanin to cast another spell.
"Focus Elanin. Try to focus the energy in to a ball." Miarenus told Elanin in Elven. She was practicing with her and trying to improve her destruction magic. At this time it was the fireball spell. Miarenus was hoping Elanin would stay on target or else her house might go up in a blaze of magical fire. The house was just South of Dawnstar next to the mountain.

Elanin squinted her eyes and tried focusing all of her energy into the spell. Miarenus has kept her busy with the same spell for quite a while and hasn't once yet developed enough energy to provide a decent enough attack. With every failed attempt, Miarenus would roll her eyes and instruct Elanin to try again.
Elanin brought both of her hands partially apart and focused on the current task. Soon enough, she could sense the flames rolling in a ball in her palms. She began to feel a sense of accomplishment and was in the motion of sending off the fireball when suddenly, a fox roamed by. Elanin lost her concentration for about half a second and the ball of fire blasted out of her hands and narrowly missed Miarenus' house and instead hit the horse that was grazing nearby.

Miarenus annoyed quickly went over duel casting healing hands and frostbite to put the fire out on the horse. Afterwards she settled it down and the horse went back to grazing. Miarenus gave Elanin a look a scolding mother would give a child.
"Next time we practice in the wilderness." Miarenus told Elanin.

Elanin quickly swore in elven to herself and nodded her head. "Well that's a great idea. Maybe I could start a forest fire while I'm at it." Elanin said and looked back at the house and motioned towards it. "At least I didn't set the house on fire again," and smiled to herself mischievously.

Miarenus sighed. A courier was seen running towards them in the distance. Miarenus waited until he arrived at the house.
"Are you Mia?" The courier asked.
Miarenus was now serious. She only received letters from the guilds or when something important happened with the family.
"Yes. What is it by Azura's sake?" Miarenus asked still a little annoyed at Elanin. The courier pulled out a sealed letter with a mark on it that Miarenus knew all to well.
"Ah I see. Here's some gold for the trouble." Miarenus told the courier.
He nodded and ran off. Miarenus walked to the house and unlocked her door with her key. Before entering she looked at Elanin.
"Coming in or would you rather try and cook dinner again?" Miarenus said joking about the horse.

Elanin gave her a dirty look and jogged after her. She closed the door behind her and looked at Miarenus quizzically. "So, what's so important?" She asked. If anything, she was relieved that the courier came when he did or else there would probably be another incident with the house catching on fire again. Elanin always thought to herself that If there is one thing to admire about Miarenus, it's that she never gave up that easily... even to her stubborn apprentice.

Miarenus sat down next to the fireplace in a chair and opened the sealed letter reading it carefully. After she was done she put the letter in the fire so nobody else could read it. She stood up and went over to her chest. Opening it up she got out hide armor with fur boots and fur gauntlets. Lastly she put on a hood.
"I need to go to Solitude to procure an item. Can't go in to details. You can come with me if you want but I have to go in to the Blue Palace myself." Miarenus told Elanin in Elven.
Miarenus walked to the door inciting low prayers from Azura, Boethiah and Mephala on her mission. She then looked over to Elanin waiting her response.

Optio was walking down a dirt path. The usual thing. It wasn't like he was always in one place. This time he was of to Dawnstar this time. It was odd, a man running was a little to fast. The thief was going after the small coin bag that Optio had on. The thief grabbed the small coin bag fast, but he wasn't fast enough. Optio shot out his arm and slammed the thief down onto the ground.

He snatched his coin bag and stood the thief up. "Do you want to try and steal something else thief?" The thief looked at Optio in horror. He shook his head no. "Are you sure?" The thief nodded his head. He put the thief down. Optio had his mace out. Of course the thief was stupid enough to steal it again though.

Optio grabbed the thief by his hood, he pulled him back which forced him to fall. Optio snatched his coin bag once again from the thief. The thief was about to get up but he took the ebony mace right to the stomach, the thief fell to the ground holding his new red wound. "Hey thief!" Optio said, the thief looked up at him, right in the eyes. "Wrong move." Optio put his right arm back with the mace in his hand, he did a right hook to the thief with the mace. There was a sickening crack. The thief's jaw broke with his nose and cheek. The thief fell to the ground. Bleeding through his mouth and nose. Optio took more money from him, he broke the weapons of the thief and continued to Dawnstar.

Elanin gave Miarenus a look that practically said Well of course. Elanin went to the wardrobe and stuffed some scrolls and books in her pack. After quickly putting out the fire, she went after Miarenus.

"It's a stone fireplace Elanin you didn't have to put the fire out..." Miarenus told her irritated again.
Miarenus hopped on her black horse which had a scar from Elanin's random fireball. She turned the horse around and waited for Elanin to get on hers.
"You're awfully slow today." Miarenus told her.
