My apologies for taking a while to respond, life's been a bit busy. As far as the setting, it's going to be a fantasy setting, swords, sorcery and the like. That said i will set some limitations on magic. As far as the races getting along, because I've left it open for you guys to make your own races (with which i would expect some backstory) i can't say definitely whether they all get along. When i put together an OOC (which should be up by Wednesday) I'll list some stock races to choose from, and there will be some conflict between some of them.

Please feel free to ask me anything else, or point out that i failed to answer any previous questions.

Yup, as long as you guys don't go crazy with it and you run them by me first.

    hmm... interesting concept...

How long would you require posts to be since this is advanced RP? 1-2 paragraphs of 3-4 sentences? or 4+ paragraphs averaging around 5-6 lengthy sentences?)

How often do you expect posts?

We've not been around here long, but this one caught our eyes... Humans aren't nice creatures. They are worse than vermin. We like that.

A few questions out of curiosity...
How grisly do you mean? is it so many barrels of intestines, so many hogsheads of blood grisly or is it detailed-description of how it goes when someone is disemboweled grisly?

Species design: Do you wish for humanoid or near-humanoid species only, or are creatures with wrong number of legs or wings or such acceptable? (with your approval check of course)
What about draconic creatures? (with limitations of course, to ensure they are not overpowered)
And creatures that are naturally venomous... are they acceptable? (say an orc-like creature with 10cm claws equipped with venom sacs at their bases)

All those are useful to know if designing creatures... after all, if most of those above are answered with "No", it'd be pointless to send in a race matching those criteria...

Oh man, I am so excited.. I've been dying to play a kelpie forever, looks like it's finally gonna happen n_n

    A few questions~
Since it seems like the races will be more diverse than just the classic "fantasy" races, I've already started using the word "fae" in my head.. which makes me wonder, would some of the classic faerie rules apply? I'm thinking mostly the idea that name = ownership, making one's true name a closely guarded secret. I also wonder about the Seelie vs. Unseelie distinction (mainly because I just always thought the idea was nifty >w> ); if you did want to incorporate that, it makes sense to me that even if such distinctions didn't already exist, they might emerge once humans become more reality than myth. Not all fae, fantasy creatures, whatevsies might think humans are evil, and that could cause a rift in the community, leading to separate factions.

I'm just throwing ideas around :3 I'm interested no matter what, but designing my kelpie definitely has me flexing my creative muscle, so I'm kinda going into brainstorm overdrive. @_@

I'd expect posts to be as long as you felt they needed to be. Generally about 3 paragraphs of around 4 sentences would be acceptable. That said, based off of my experiences here so far that shall probably end up being a bare minimum.

About once or twice a week at the least.

The latter is more what i meant. It's not going to be absurd, only descriptive.

The races don't have to be humanoid, no. As far as draconic creatures go, I'll give a tentative yes, as they have a tendency to be a tad over-powered. Also a tentative yes to the last one. As i've said in previous posts, once it's designed just run it by me. An OOC should be up by monday.

good answers... We'll see if we can find some race that we like, then run it by you.

Do you have plans that will prevent the occurrence of too many single-member races, or will you deal with that in time?
(If we come up with a race you accept, we'd naturally want others to use it as well...)

Ah, you see i hadn't considered that (as i mentioned in my first post, I'm new). Let me think it over, but I'll certainly have something set up to prevent that.

I've always liked the concept of name=ownership as well, and I'm fine with incorporating it, but only so far as to apply to the fae, it shall not apply to other races. I'll allow the incorporation of the Seelie and Unseelie distinction as well, but that one I'm a bit more cautious about. As far as the rifts in the community, leading to factions, I already had that in mind.

Hm... if we can come up with some of our own races, does that mean we have to PM you the idea before the start of the RP? Or will more be added as the RP progresses?
