In other news, if you think it has potential, go start an UNofficial contest thread in the gallery and prove it. If it works consistently, I'm sure you'll have a lot of leverage to make a good case. If not, well, don't say I didn't tell you so.
Actually, a quick search reveals the guild has a sizable number of musicians, the vast majority of whom are inactive.
While most of them wouldn't suddenly become active again just for a contest, I do wonder how many of them would join.
If one month is too little time, then Musician of the Trimester might be better?
My point was, The Guild MAY have more musicians than one might expect at first; So I say we do what MDK says. We start up an Unofficial contest, let it run for three months or whatever time we agree on and see who bites.
If it's not enough people to warrant the competition, we drop it, simple as that.
Alright. I'll go start a thread and see the kind of reception it gets. Actually, wait. Should I refine it to trimesters as Cid mentioned? Or keep it by the month?
Also, if anyone here is willing to drum up a banner, that'd be cool.
It would risk anonymity entirely, actually. Risking it is still risking it, unless you require them to voice edit.
But, not all music has lyrics Dudel. I doubt you'd accept sheet music as an entry.
You don't know that at all. If you do, statistics please.
What, you mean like how you can distinct certain artists from the style of their artwork?
:P

My nigs, sole. He makes a good point though. It could be just instrumental covers then. This is good because it also means that people only need access to music software. Sure it sounds a little flat, but even having an electric acoustic guitar would mean clear sound input and solve that problem.
Also, software for making music is in an abundance.
I've already said "Fuck it, it's okay."
So... fuck it, it's okay.
Provided the breach of anonymity doesn't affect people's want or will to vote I really don't care. It's when people vote because "OMG it's Yadda yadda! We should vote for them!"
I've gained some trust (not much) after the Collaboration contest in the fact that this might not happen, maybe. I also don't see people doing this very often. It's just... too much work.
Plus there's things like auto tune and voice masking and whatever. It can work. I'll find a way to make it work if someone's determined enough to submit spoken/sung word.
Again, I can't speak for AOTM but that's where I'd put the rest of it. I can only speak for WOTM. As far as WOTM is concerned, no, we wouldn't accept sheet music. But, not all music has lyrics Dudel. I doubt you'd accept sheet music as an entry.
I am doing what I can within the limits that have been provided to me.
I wasn't the one who said it, I was responding to this supposed fact by offering up other possible solutions. However, without Official backing and dedicated people running said "Music Contest" it's chance of success is pretty slim. I give my support, and wish the endeavor luck, but I would hope no one holds their breath. You don't know that at all. If you do, statistics please.
The amount of work maintaining something like this requires isn't something the usual RPGuild member has the attention span for. It's work. It's thankless and payless work.
