    RP slots limited?

I dunno, but every time I look through an RP (in the Advanced section), they are either filled up and taking no one else, or the RP itself is just unappealing to me. I just can't seem to find a way to get into a good one around here.

Why are all these slots so limited? Is there a trick to getting into a good RP without being so late? :/

You can get there earlier; or, if you are late, ask for a summary of what's happened so far - so you aren't left behind as much.

They are limited because they are good, I suppose, and the GM had a set number of people they wanted.

Have you been looking in the Advanced Interest Checks? Or just in the Advanced section? The Interest checks are where we keep the new and recruiting RP's, you'll have much better luck there.

I actually have been checking there, and same reason.

*sighs* I guess I'll just have to learn how to be more patient.... xD

Just keep checking is all I can say, new stuff is added all the time. Have you ever considered 1x1's? Sometimes those are easier to get something you like started and the pacing is easier to control. It takes a little more work plot wise as there is no GM but it might get you started.

Usually, from experience, Advanced RPs don't want work too well with large of a cast. If the writing takes time and you have to wait on a lot of people to include and work with, it gets hard. As a GM I make it a note to keep the slots/cast expectations between three and six players total, anything more than that, and it gets a bit hard to manage. A small group of people is generally the best thing to cultivate and develop, players get to know each others and characters don't feel like they're all trying to get a word in edgewise. Some people already know members and therefore get a slot based on past experiences, it's all about luck generally. That and making a good impression that lasts if possible. If you can't get into a RP, try to reach out and offer your hand if something is ever free, talk to GMs or GM yourself, even.

Whereas casual and free are fine with having people all over the place, most advanced players just seem can't to handle this and hence group everyone together in the same spot all the time. Although I'm not too sure about your issue. Usually games really don't live that long in advanced, really. Dying before they even reach a second page is extremely common.

Either way I tend to join a more RP's late than at interest check phase, lately. I see your issue in casual but never really in advanced. Especially since advanced has an extremely high drop/death rate. Usually poking the OOC is just fine. I rarely see all slots filled up for games in advanced. Ironically a vast majority of active players in my own games as of late has been joining late.

The limited number of players per thread is usually because the GM CBA to much around with 24 plyers operating simultaniously.

Slots are only as limited as you perceive them to be. Speak humbly, come more than prepared, and be confident. That's usually how I get my head into Roleplays that are well into their way but interest me too much to ignore. I, like everyone here, am not a superstar. There is no real reason to take me in late if it's an inconvenience. Yet, when I do come in, I ask politely, I come with a character sheet reflecting something the RP lacks in addition to as many ideas as I may offer, and I promise (truthfully) an extra mind to the creation process. Hasn't failed me so far.

I guess my big point is that, if you come in making it clear you're not a burden, in fact you'll be a help, there's no reason for a GM to deny you.
