What first got you into roleplaying?

I got into roleplaying around 2006. I joined a Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess without knowing a lick of RPing. That RP died quite quick, then I joined a Final Fantasy III RP about a year later. There I met a friend and when that RP died, we moved onto a Tales of RP based off the game series of the same name.

We gathered many roleplayers and roleplayed almost nonstop for about 9-10 months. That's where I got most of my writing skill and we continued roleplaying on our own site but it just wasn't the same. But now I'm hoping to be an author once I get out of college.

Let's see. I've been RPing for... Jeez, I'm already losing track. I want to say... 11 or 12 years now? I started off with like Roleplaying... one a piece of paper with a friend of mine out of pure boredom. Then I did it in chats, which didn't last long because I didn't really care for it. After that is was kind of hopping from one lame forum to another... then I just kind of got into Tabletop stuff and eventually wandered into a forum on a social site which is where I met Rilla. lolz. I RPed there for a good while till I got sick of the drama and ended up here with... what do you know... Rilla. lolz. And I've been here since. Used to be under a different username... But, I've had 'Guru' for a while now which is actually a character I used who's real name was Ro'man Valentino on the site I met Rilla.. but always called him Guru... cause that was kind of his thing... but anyways... I'm just rambling now. XD

I was going through a .hack// phase for a while when my friend pointed me to a forum site for the series...I poked my nose in the RP Section and couldn't stay out of it. One day I decided to try it for myself...and ended up trying to control the other person's character, not knowing any better. The other person called me a noob and ran off, refusing to explain why.

I told the friend what happened, and he just laughed and said he would teach me how to roleplay. Soon enough, I was running as strong as the veterans, and I loved it all. I was running a guild on the site, and life was good. But, as with all great things, it came to an end, the forum had become overrun with drama and hideous bland roleplays with nothing but vampires and werewolves, and I had moved and never saw my friend again.

I miss him a lot, and even had a huge crush on him. I think I still do. But being able to combine acting and writing into one is what keeps me in roleplay. I love it, and probably will never stop again.

Been roleplaying off and on since 2001 and the best way how I got started in roleplay was that I stumbled upon it in a combination of forums and chat-based rps in yahoo. I guess after a few sessions in chat my roleplaying days kicked off from there, eventually going into forums since chat is no longer viable for me.
