Jason was slowly eating his re-hydrated meal, when he noted the appearance of the man from the hallway before take a seat on the same table as him, he looked up as the man took his seat; Jason smiled slightly once before returning to his meal. As he ate his meal his mind constantly went back over the announcement, trying to find a way to work it out or at least find a way to make it better. Then his hand froze, he hadn’t noticed it before but something was wrong very very wrong; his head shot up and looked around just as the woman from before entered. ‘shit’ he thought as he seen her enter and talk with the other man who had identified himself as Joshua, the look she directed in his direction upon spotting him said it all; he had really gotten off on the wrong foot with that one.

Jason quickly downed the rest of his meal before anything else could happen, but just as he put the last of it in his mouth Josh asked what he had done to get that reaction, Jason looked him in the eye “she… um… caught me at a bad time” he said before quickly getting up and walking to the door placing his plate on the disposal tray before exiting into the hall. He took a couple steps down the hall before stopping and leaning against it once more, breathing slowly, “I think… I may have to… talk with ‘her’ about my reaction earlier… but first I must find Sam” he said softly to himself; he pushed himself off the wall and looked up to see the very person he wanted walking down the hall way, already in her armour or more precisely she hadn’t changed out of it yet. Jason cleared his throat and wave to her; he nodded his head to the side indicating he wanted to talk to her.

Joesph had been sitting and observing the interaction in front of him. Like a curious goat, he paused mid chew, his eyebrows raised, and listened to what people were saying.

He had no idea who he would pick as a leader when the guard, Josh, had mentioned it. Joesph knew very little about the people around him. Some of them, he was meeting for the very first time. It was refreshing to see someone a little more lively come into the room in the form of this Xena character. Is was also good to know that Joesph wasn't the only scientist on the ship.

After a brief moment, the man, in the coat, Jason, got up and briskly walked off in a hurry. Joesph swallowed the mouthful that had been lingering in his mouth for the past few moments and shrugged in confusion. Must be something tense between them, Joesph thought to himself, I don't really want to make a mistake about who's going to be leading us, though. I'd better scope out my options.

Joesph put down his fork and leaned toward the guard nearby "Hey, Josh, right?" He said, "look, I don't want to seem dumb or anything, but..." Joesph looked around the room and then back to Josh "... I have no idea who I should be nominating for our leader. Who do you reckon are the best candidates?"

Josh finished his tea and then turned to Joseph "I actually have no idea. I certanly won't be a good leader, as would be Sam - another soldier. That guy from implantant company has got expirience in leading big group, but I have no idea about him being good leader. Xena is Xena, if you would know her well enough you would be glad that she is just a scientist, not a medic." Josh rose the cup to get another drink of tea, but then he remembered that it was over "Aww piss! Anyway, you might work, but I have no idea about you - your bio wasn't included in the instructions. Guttenmann, our german geologist is a great variant - but he is, unfortunately a workaholic and loves his stones more than everything else. His assistant, Jade is a stereotypal blonde. The other guy called Patterson is a goddamn trader - I have no idea who will he trade with, but he has got a lot of free time on his hands. And I am not speaking about this creepy Russian weirdo that probably would kill all of us if the robots would be in danger."

Sam opened her eyes, she could see the inside of her helmets HUD screen and the closed chamber door beyond, her head resting against the back of the cryogenics chambers walls after the longs century of sleep. She turned her head to the right slightly as she heard the sound of the chambers latches giving way and unlocking, a groggy groan coming from her mouth as she fully awakened, then the bright light broke through as the door opened causing her visor to darken accordingly. Lifting her left arm she raised her hand upto the edge of the cryogenics chamber grasping the edge, she pulled lightly aided that force to aid in rising up and out of the chamber. Her head was feeling a slight pain due to the reanimation process, she turned her head around to either side looking around the room noting that all of the other chambers had already been emptied indicating that she was the last on this deck to be awoken.

She climbed out of the chamber and over to the hallway heading towards the rooms, she leaned against the wall as she walked so she could regain her breath. As she walked down one of the hallways she passed by a locked clear glass door, looking in she could see an office arranged so that its central desk was creating a passageway leading from the door into the centre of the office; a memory of her first boarding the ship returned.

    ***

“Sam… Sam… Samantha… this way” the man said, he was a grey haired man with a white lab coat on leading her along a hallway in the middle of the ship “this here” he said waving a hand at the clear glass door “will be your office… we have arranged the furnishing how you requested… and at the same time we have connected the computer here to all security feeds on the ship… it is from here that you will be able to perform your role”. Samantha followed the man as he walked into the room, her eyes darting around taking in every detail; the single grey scaled painted walls, the small weapons cabinet behind the desk next to the 2 standing storage cabinets. On the wall opposite the desk were a portrait of each crew member with their names and job titles below, on the wall opposite the door was what appeared to be another area sealed behind a glass wall with another door in it. The man turned around after entering the room and showed each feature to Samantha, “over here are the background records of each crew member along with room for any reports you wish to file… this area to the back is the holding pen… we all hope you won’t have to use it”

    ***

Sam entered the glass door and the lights inside turned on automatically, a voice came over the intercom in the room “welcome officer Sam… all security feeds are live and working” it said. Sam smiled and walked around the desk saying "it's good that nothing was damaged in the journey" as she took a seat in the chair, as she faced the computer screen its backlight glass screen lighting up; she reached out touching the screen lightly so its systems could recognise her and respond by unlocking.

As the announcement over the ship wide intercom come on about what had happened on earth Sam sighed softly, “it’s sad… but to be expected… and for me its not such a bad thing” she said to herself before returning back to the computer screen; she was in the middle of checking over the ships external security settings and video feeds.

    ----------
Jason walked down the hallway away from the cafeteria, “now where the hell was it… her office… knowing her that would have to be the first place she would go” he said as he walked. He walked around the corner of the hall leading to Sam’s security office, but it was only after he had walked past the door and happened to look in that spotted her behind the desk, he stopped outside for a short break before taking a deep breath and walking in to face her.

Jason smiled at Sam behind the desk, “I see my thoughts were correct… that is that you have yet go to or even find your rooms” he said. Sam looked up and smiled at Jason, though it was hidden by her helmet, “and what does that mean” she asked. Jason flinched slightly “just that you always seemed more comfortable in that armour than in anything else… even that dress… anyway that’s not why I’m here… I have an issue that I need to tell you about” he said, Samantha smiled again “your right about that… I do like this armour more than many things… but moving on… what’s the issue… and does it have anything to do with that incident in the hallway earlier”.

Jason averted his eyes and swallowed, “umm… yes… it does… I just wanted to ask you not to over react about it” he said. Samantha was silent for a short period “I thought so… and if that’s what you want I won’t ‘over react’
