Grievous was never a Jedi and didn't have access to the force. The main reason Jedi and Sith need to keep a hand free is to use Jedi telekinesis. They need to gesture to make things happen in the heat of combat.

To be honest, I never liked Grievous. He broke another one of Lucas' original rules, that only force users could use light sabers safely.

He was raised as a Mandalorian, and as such is very tough,and a bred fighter and though he speaks very little Mandalore, he considers himself to be a Mandalorian. He joined the Empire at age 18, and left the Acadmeny with very high marks, allowing him a rookie rank at Imperial Commando.

Background: he is kept secret by the sith and is used very wisely during battles. The jedi have no knowledge of him because he is fast and swift in his killings. He wasn't fast enough when he was captured by rebels but escaped their clutches and killed all that were aboard the ship and escaped. He flies around the galaxy in a personal star fighter made by the empire.

Home world: Tatoonie.... but the space is now his home for which he has none .

Personality: He is quiet, serious and intense. He prefers not to speak unless necesary. He is extremely talented with the force, and is good with lightsabers, which he has two of. He is very wise and stratigical, and can defeat enemies sing his cleverness alone.
Backround: He has no family. Aside from this, no one knows anything about his past, which he never speaks about.

Appearance:

Personality: Merciless to jedis and those who stand against the sith, Hateful to the Jedi Knights, Ruthless, Agressive, Violent Obsessed to kill Jedi's.

Background:Malus was at first born from two Sith knights that raised him and both taught him how to fight against the jedi they preached to him how they are cruel ones and deserved to be all dead, this made Malus's great hatred for the jedi knights. A day came when his parents were killed fighting jedi knights only fueling the hate and anger for them. A general of the sith who was best friends with the emperor adopted Malus and taught him how to lead since he was general and felt he would make an excellent one. Malus worked his way to show his leadership during battles and how cruel and merciless he was to jedis. He earned his title after his foster father died and the emperor being pleased by his leadership and how he hated the jedi's.
