    ________________________________

Welcome to the world of Alagaësia. Or rather, welcome to the next continent over.

The Rider Eragon, and his Dragon, Saphira, arrived here nearly two decades ago, seeking a claim where he might train the next generation of riders in relative peace, after the original voyage to find new lands failed, on account of a lack of range. They flew for several days, stopping on tiny islands no bigger than a small town, and certainly not large enough to train a new order. The pair began to despair, until they happened upon a massive new continent, one that appeared to be uninhabited. They landed on the western beach, at the very tip of the new continent, and set about exploring. A name popped into Eragon's head as he traveled. Nyreloi. New Earth. He decided to call the new continent such, and he and Saphira traveled the continent for many days, exploring and searching. Eventually, they found a large island in the center a a cove, large enough to raise almost three hundred dragons. It was perfect, and they spent the next few days creating a massive hall, using the true name of the ancient language to make the process incredibly simple. They named the hall Du Skulgrind, the Scaled Gates, on account of the creatures that would soon be living inside. Despite this, it took almost a year for the inside to be finished, as it required much more finesse and art skills, which the new rider did not have much of.

The next few years were spent in search of rider candidates. Eragon and Saphira returned to their homeland temporarily, and traveled the whole continent of Alagaësia over, searching for any and all whom a dragon egg might hatch for. When one or the other felt power in a child, teenagers, or adults of any age and race, they would bring the candidate back to Skulgrind. In the case of adolescents, they would only take the candidate if the parents or guardians agreed. More often than not, the candidates family and closest friends would accompany them back to Nyreloi, and a small village sprung up around Skulgrind, prompting the entire town to be called as such. Skulgrind, the hall, became known as The Rider's Castle, and the town itself assumed the name Skulgrind. Every race lived side-by-side in this new world, all traces of hate and anger forgotten.

Over the next two decades, Eragon returned 'permanently' to Nyreloi, and began to train the new Order. For those ten years, he trained the second generation of new riders, and the Order's numbers grew past ten. 'Elders' of the Order were chosen, and the council format of old was reinstated. Now, the Choosing, as it has been unofficially named, is upon Skulgrind once more. Your characters are candidates, and Residents of Skulgrind.

This Role Play will start at the time of the Choosing. Your characters will most likely be chosen, however you wish, and you will travel to the Rider's Castle to begin your training. You are the fourth generation of new Riders.

History: (It really shouldn't be too difficult to write two-five good paragraphs. What makes your character who they are? Have they traveled their whole life, only to be brought to Skulgrind because of hidden power? If your character grew up in Skulgrind, what was their childhood like? If your character is already an adult, then a history really shouldn't be to hard. I have faith in the lot of you!)

    RULES:
I'll tell you if you break any.
    *

So, this isn't the best OOC I've ever typed up, but it gets the job done, and I plan to make the actual RP a good deal better.

why not open up for dragon characters too? There wouldn't just be rider dragons... and even ignoring those, it would be fairly interesting to try RPing as dragon primarily, with the rider as a secondary personality.
    mind you, just a suggestion.

Well, the thing is, there aren't any wild dragons left. All of the dragon eggs from the series were Rider eggs, meaning they would only hatch for their destined partner. I don't mind if you want to primarily be a dragon, but I don't think there would be any lone dragons, not yet.

I think there should be a little CS for the Rider's dragon, even if we don't do full-on dragon characters.

actually, only a small fraction of the vault eggs were for riders...

In Inheritance, the Vault of Souls was found to contain over two hundred dragon eggs, twenty six of which were destined for Riders, the others wild.

    OH DERP MY BAD.

    X|

Well, then Dragons are allowed. I just don't know how many of them would have hatched and survived out in the wilderness with what is already on the island...
