Character Name: Sathir Steelmind Wendallsson
Profession: Dragon Rider Apprentice
Dragon's Name: Rike Gaetuuhuga (AL for Guarded Mind)
Dragon's Color: Emerald Green
Dragon's Personality: Takes an interest in everything around him. In battle this translates into high awareness; he'd be hard to surprise. Passively, he's out to learn all he can. He and Sathir are very much students of mental magic, and the two of them are agreed that that will be their area of focus.
Special Characteristics: Rike is much more suited to being fast than being strong. He's very streamlined and short. He's got less of an ill temper than most dragons (but to humans, he seems just as fiery as the rest of them), although he can get riled up. He has lots of ideas; when Rike and Sathir are just riding, they discuss various thoughts that they have. Also, this dragon is genius when it comes to the part of magic that deals with the mind.
Preferred Weapon: Spear. Sathir has always wanted a spear that has a blade made of brighsteel; however, there would have to be brightsteel available. He settles for one that he puts spells on until he by some miracle may happen to find brightsteel.
The shirt, of course, wouldn't be button-down. He likes the colors green and white, even if white gets dirty and dusty when he wears it. He prefers comfort over looks, usually, but he looks good in almost anything he wears. Often has a look of deep thought, but don't let this fool you into thinking he's not paying attention to everything going on.
Personality: He's one for deep thought. One of his greater assets is his mind. He has a natural resistance to most things one would want to do to a Rider's mind. With practice, he could develop into a veritable fortress. He has a fascination with magic and anything related to it, and is attracted to all knowledge involved with it. He devours the ancient language ravenously, and shows a talent for it. So far, he's not made any big mistakes, but at the rate he's moving at, he's bound to mess up eventually.
Sathir lived with merchant parents in AlagaŽsia, travelling through the human cities his whole life. They tended to favor the North, and so Sathir identifies most with those people. His parents sold cloth, sometimes managing to make wool from the North seem to be the most attractive new fad to some of those living farther south.
His day came when Eragon was sweeping the North for candiates to become Riders. It was a chance encounter, really. His parents had decided to take a round trip to a small town they didn't usually visit, and lo and behold, Eragon himself was there. They allowed their son to be tested, and one of the dragon eggs, the one that would hatch to become Rike, noticed his presence.
That night, his parents debated on what to do. They didn't know that they could leave the continent they knew so well. Their entire lives and livelihood were here. But they didn't want to crush their sons dreams or hinder the Riders. So they came to a decision. The future of the dragons and the Riders was important enough that they could let their son leave them. In truth, they were too scared to go themselves. And so, Sathir came to Nyreloi.
