Avatar: The Rise of Dual-Bending

Kai was surprised was the job his already? One of them seemed to not want him to have this job, she looked familiar. He recognized her from somewhere, or at least he thought he did. He thought about confronting her, perhaps she was royalty in hiding as well. He chuckled silently himself the thought itself was ludicrous. There were greater odds that he’d run into the leader of the Equalists, or even better a capable air bender, and water bender in the same area.

Thinking of such ridiculous odds in his head amused him, but the day dreaming back fired on him. He snapped back to reality as Mara spoke to him. However by then she’d left, he felt bad he hated being ignored, and he was sure the feeling was mutual. “Excuse me I’ll be right back.” He said making his way outside where he saw Mara practicing some form of martial arts on a target dummy.

“Excuse me miss forgive me for earlier, I was distracted by the appearance of the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen in my life.” He said smoothly referring to Mara of course kneeling down, taking her hand and kissing it, before getting his chin up. “My Name’s Kai, what’s yours lovely?”

Mara leaned forward putting her face only inches away from him.

"I'd rather drink a cup of acid after chewing on rusted razors." She whispered as if sharing an intimate secret. His face was like all the others that had tried either similar, or regular tactics. Zuka likes to say that a swing of her hips and Mara could have any man she wanted. But in truth, why would she want one? There was no reason to be in a relationship that could tie her down, the man that could due that would have to be nothing short of royalty. And even that was iffy, after all she already had one royal pain.

"Stop swooning over Mara and get to work!" Zuka laughed a hip placed on the door. "And don't worry about the whole acid thing, she says that to everyone! Even me when we met."

Yang tried to ignore the girl's mistake. She was obviously new, both in her job and air bending. He was thinking of just leaving when he heard the familiar beats of Chi blocking. He has gone through the motions himself. Rising from his seat, Yang went to look for the source of the noise. What he found was a dojo. For benders.

Mariko watched Yang carefully, and was a bit shocked when he stood up. "Ey, that's my garage!!" She lied, jumping around and waving her hands in front of his face. One of the signs outside fell due to a strong gust of wind.

A very well dressed man walked down the streets of Republic City. There were two men trailing right behind him. One was bulky with dark skin I wild hair. He had thick metal braces on his arms and legs along with a very intimidating stare that seemed to be permanently attached to his face. The other man behind the wealthy business man was a bit younger with a bored look to his face. He looked as if he wanted to be doing something else at the moment. In fact, he was just biding his time for something he found exciting. This young man was known as Jin, and he knew this city all too well.

“Hmm a teahouse… I’d be in the mood for a nice cup of t-” The businessman found himself cut off.

“Anywhere but there, sir. That place is… filthy… they have Pigrats.” Jin commented.

“Pigrats? Kenshu Chow will not find himself in a filthy teahouse filled with pigrats!” The man shouted before continuing on. People in the vicinity mumbled at the man’s words. He dressed like he was important, so maybe what he said was true, right? Several people found themselves walking away from the teahouse and few that overheard Kenshu’s shout from inside decided to leave. One man in the middle of sipping the tea spit it out onto the table and scurried out leaving a small tip in the process of exiting.

Just great, Mr. Chow… Jin thought with chuckle. He found the scene a bit humorous, even if he didn’t think he’d like the attention, or maybe her would.

Yang was annoyed that the waitress was trying to stop him offhandedly, Yang struck various chi points on her body, just enough for her to collapses. It didn't help she sent a blast of wind right past his face.

He entered the dojo, an intense glare on his face. But before he took another step, he asked himself: What am I doing here? What am I trying to prove now?He took a moment to think, and stepped into the dojo, seeking the one who was making the rhythmic beat of A Chi Blocking flourish.

Mara looked at the new person invading her dojo. He wasn't a student, or even a water bender for that matter. Eyebrows tucking down gently, she looked at the glaring man.

"May I help you sir? The tea house is back where you came from, obviously." Her voice was a little harder than she intended to use with customers. He continued to stare at Mara as if debating what to do, it was an uncomfortable silence.

Feeling the water placed in large barrels around them, she heard the wood creak as her muscles tensed. There was something wrong with this picture. Perhaps she should have gone to the academy for the teaching position.

Mariko glared at Yang, not liking where thise was going. "You heard the girl!!" She said, moving her hands in a fluid and quick motion, as she knocked a large wave of wind at Yang, with a harsh whipping motion. She didn't like the fact he seemed so angry, or the fact that he was trying to invade anyone's lessons. This guy seemed like he was trying to prove something, and Mariko didn't like it.

Yang stood staunch and unmoving, even with the great burst of wind blowing behind him. All it did was show the rather large assortments of knives hidden under his shirt. "This place, it's for teaching bending?" It didn't take a genius to feel the tension in the air. It was so thick, he could cut it. He turned his head slightly towards the waitress behind him, who had just attacked him with a burst of wind. "You might want to get some better workers. Seems like they let a draft in here. It's not endearing, their incompetence. It's just annoying, their... Lack of discipline." He wasn't quite sure what their problem was with him; sure, he wasn't exactly being a happy customer, but then again, is everyone suppose to be a great ball of sunshine? Still, this felt wrong to him. The school, behind the tea house; it just smelled of criminal activity. It would come to no surprise if the Triple-Threat Triad used this place for business. He took notes of the barrels around the room, and could guess what was in them; water. So this place was for water bending. Doesn't explain the air bender, but from her lack of finesse in both of bending and tea serving, she was new. A day or so, very plucky, from her attack, if it could be called one.

Mariko was quite angry and upset with the man, not liking that he was invading the privacy of those that wanted to train there. This was why she had many problems prior to her new job starting. Somehow, she always had a sense of justice and fairness, no matter where she was. But things had changed after she had a run in with rowdy Equalists, and she tried to hide her bending. This was a great practice ground, but she couldn't see herself using it, since she wanted to stay on the down low.

Mariko growled at Yang's words, making a fist. "You're the one snooping around. This is a private school, and we don't allow customers here." She said in a stern voice, the air seeming to get more dense. She put a light hand around Yang's arm, and attempted to escort him out of the area.
