Jadefyre, just one of many fantasy worlds in existence. This world in particular has only 3 continents, Orion, Siren, and Neogut. Each of these continents has a special factor to them. Orion is the continent of magic, having tall wizardry towers and giant stone cities as its capitols. Siren is the continent of death, holding dead souls and starving creatures. Neogut is the continent of technology, with weapons much like our own in ways.

You are all adventurers in this world. You are all either destructive mages, powerful altered, or resourcefull humans. Each one of you is not on a grand quest, just personal goals for money, power, love, fame, and perhaps even wisdom.

So, you better begin your quest. Otherwise, you may never learn what this world has to offer.

Letting Destiny control your life is like giving up your free will. You have no real choice in your life, only a set path forced upon you. Some Destinies put you on a path of good, while others put you on a path of evil. However, Destiny forces you onto those paths sometimes, making you give up many things that define you. Destiny is in truth, a double edged sword. It cuts you just as deeply as it cuts into the paths of others.

Never let Destiny guide you. It may cause more harm to who you are than you think.

    (The griffin's name is Aaron.)

Nilex looked around, Hmm, no one here. "What do you think Aaron? Should we go scavenge for food, or hunt for food?" Aaron motioned in the direction of their "hunting grounds" "Hunting it is then!" With that, Nilex ran off with Aaron in the direction of the hunting grounds, only to find a dead mermaid carcass lying on the ground, perfectly untouched. "Hmm, I think we don't have to hunt for now, this shall be our dinner!" Aaron and Nilex were perfectly fine with eating dead things, even if they were part human. After all, eating recently dead things heals Nilex somewhat. They both dug into the carcass. "Wow, I've never had mermaid before!" He joked, he didn't find this wrong at all. It was, actually, how his human ancestors ate.

When they were done with their meal, they ran back to their cave, carrying their leftovers with them. "That was a mighty fine meal I must say! Tomorrow we might actually be able to cook it." Nilex laughed. Even though these were hard times for him, he managed to find the best of them. Of course, this was the way that he has to live his life from now on.

    "Are you oozing?"

    "Oozing?"

    "Yeah. You know - venom."

"Could you have selected a nastier word, Vasco?"

"Probably. I'm not just going to grab you, though. Rather fond of life. So, are you?"

"No," Deirdre snapped, shaking something grey and viscous off a laddle, aimed in the direction of the man. When he jumped back, a faint smile curled the edges of her mouth. It was something of a calculated smile, as it didn't allow a glimpse of her pointed teeth. Her widest smile, unless startled into laughter, was capable of showing teeth without revealing their sharp tips. It was enough that she was decrepit bones thrusting out of her body in sad mimicry of wings; she didn't need to scare people further. It also saved the shock for later, if necessary.

Tossing her head to keep the heavy mane from falling into the mess they'd concocted, Deirdre returned the laddle to a pot and began to flip through a dozen or so sheaves of paper, seeking some further direction. Her eyes caught the fire's light and rather than reflect, seemed to swallow it. The pupils had dilated, consuming all but a thin ring of cobalt - it was a sight that had long since stopped perturbing Vasco.

    "Apply it, Vasco."

"Yeah, yeah," he grumbled, shoving his sleeves up even further. When his hands pushed into the mixture between them, his expression showed clearly how disgusted he was. It was more of a paste than anything else, a pitch mixture with flecks of grey. When he'd obtained two handfuls, Vasco shuffled around the pot and began applying it to the bare bones of Deirdre's wings. After slight squirming, the woman subsided into glum preoccupation. This was their fifth trial, the kitchen an amazing diaster of pots, pans, and scattered ingredients, and she was starting to wonder if her skills had deserted her.

    "Good?"

"Yes," she responded, shifting into a more comfortable position. She shut her eyes against the dishevelment, closed her ears against Vasco's movements as he sought a sink, and one by one the remainder of her senses turned inward. Chest rising and falling with each deep breath, the Altered began to murmur low words, her contralto tones rasping round the edges. The chant wasn't truly part of concentratnig the mana into something effective, but rather a ritual to guide the mind. The air around her head grew dense, her body emanating pulses of scalding heat.

A ripple found its way down Deirdre's spine as she absorbed the mana, channeling it into the bones of her wings. As the mana gathered round the woman, it worked alongside the paste; threads of opalescent flesh began to form, wrapping round the bones and slowly working into a web. As the wings came into formation, Vasco settled down in a chair nearby to watch. The wings had formed the last two times, as well, but the first success had rapidly plummeted and the second had nearly had Deirdre plummeting, having desintegrated in mid-flight.

    "Hnn."

    "That mean I can talk?"

"Too late if it didn't, isn't it? How do they look?" She twisted, craning around to observe the wings.

"Same as last time. A bit ugly."

Capturing the other with a feral gaze, Deirdre shoved to her feet and flexed the damp wings cautiously. They folded inward and expanded several times, the movement extraordinarily different with webbing.

    "So if they work...?"

“It’s mostly just a selling point. I’m sick of being a servant to wizards, Vasco. They’re dry old bats most of the time, and as a general rule I could as easily destroy as protect the ones looking for guards. I want more,” she murmured distractedly, testing the wings to see if they could hold her weight. Mostly assured of their durability, Deirdre fetched a belt composed of numerous pouches and slung it around her waist, securing everything with additional ropes so that there wasn’t any extra movement. Checking the main compartment for the numerous vials of ingredients, the Altered kissed Vasco’s cheek before leaping out of a sixth-story window. It was a risk, given her previous failures, but she didn’t register any fear.

Miki landed into a roll unclasping her parachute before she finished. She crouched low in the shadows. “Lets see what we got here then.” She whispered to herself leaving the parachute behind and moving closer into the compound. Leaning hard against a wall feeling the rough rocks against her cheek she peered around a corner to her right just noticing two men walking her way, she quickly pulled her head back around staying completely still. Her heart began to pound as they passed by, she was both relieved and excited by the near catch. Quickly and as silent as a breath she ran the way the guards came from and into a door leading to a medical compound or so she assumed from the red cross painted onto the door.

Entering the building she was surprised by the heat of the room, it was at least forty degrees or higher. She took down her hood revealing her hair that was tied up into two pig tails either side of her head. “It's too hot.” She panted finding herself more distracted by heat than the possibilities of men with guns being around every corner. Moving again she heard a loud twisted scream echo through the hall way. She ran thinking her informant might have been caught. A single door wide open with yellow light bouncing off the dark hallway grabbed her attention. Moving towards it she leaned around seeing two men in white coats standing over an 'Altered' man. His legs morphed into a single slimy tail like a cobra and both his arms replaced with large blades. Miki felt her blood boil at the sight of the inhuman creature she without thought thought stood between the frames of the open door, the men unable to see her due to them paying to much attention to what ever experiments they were running on the creature. But her presence was all to obvious to the Altered man as his eyes focused heavily on her.

“Well well... What do we have here?” She said with a smirk replacing her disgusted expression. The scientists turned expecting it to be one of the guards. “Just get on with your jo...” The man froze. “You're not a guard!” He announced as his eyes graced her for the first time. “No. I'm Lady Death. Nice to meet you.” She walked up to the closest scientist who was now trying to unbuckle his side arm. Her cyber blade formed creating a large ten inch blade out of the top of her left wrist it turned the once yellow room blue. She lunged the blade into the bumbling scientists chest without hesitation or remorse. Adrenaline pumped into her body as she felt the life rip out of the man and his blood spill onto the white marble floor. With a spin she quickly finished the second scientist leaving his chest almost split from his body. “Thank you.” The Altered creature announced to her. She looked at him, her emerald eyes filled with hatred and fear. She raised her weapon to the throat of the creature and looked him in the eyes. “Your kind will pay for all the awful things you've done. Feel happy in the knowledge that I'm sparing you a more grim fate.” She said without blinking or removing her eyes from the creature. “NO! Please.” She cut his begging short with a powerful swing removing the head of the Altered man.

Upon leaving the compound happy that she had found what secrets were held inside she gathered in the adjacent forest to recuperate and brief the headquarters. “The lab is filled with scientists experimenting on the Altered. Two are dead along with one of those creatures. Might want to give these guys a pat on the back.” She said with slight anger still residing inside her.

    Alexander

Alexander looked around his study, which was filled with bookshelfs and had a book layered floor. Currently, he was sitting in one of two comfortable chairs in the room, reading a book about folklore and myths. After confirming that everything was fine in the study (Like every other day...), he returned to reading. Everything was so calm now, different from the flames and cries of war. It was almost to peacefull for someone who nearly broke himself down to attempt stopping war single handedly.

Yet, it wasn't that bad either.

    Outside the house

The forest nearby the house was seeming less...active...today. In fact, it was very quiet and was missing the lush sounds of life that other forests have. There are many explainations for this event, some of which that involve tales of demonic spirits and such. However, this event was due to Mana poisoning the environment, which would soon bring forth new creatures to the world. They could be small, cute, and friendly. Or they could become frightening things that horrify normal men.

Either way, something new may be coming. Or perhaps something old?

Note:A few forests are now deathly silent like this. Investigating inside the forest may cause death due to mana poisoning, or painful unwanted mutations on existing altered. It is common knowledge to avoid forests like this.
