A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) OOC

A RPG based in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones)

    Once again, the introduction...

King’s Landing is a bubbling cauldron. The Hand of the King Eddard Stark takes a grievous wound and his northmen are cut down as he battles Jamie Lannister openly in the streets. Tension between Stark and the Queen, Cersei Lannister, grows ever higher when a recovering Eddard demands that her brother Jamie faces the King’s justice.

The situation in the Riverlands is just as dire. Rumours of brigands raiding villages and holdfasts sworn to Riverrun are beginning to reach the capital. These rumours are confirmed when the knights Piper, Vance, and Darry along with a number of raid survivors reach King’s Landing and present themselves to the King’s Hand. The truth is worse than expected. The knights and survivors hold Ser Gregor Clegane, a Lannister bannerman, responsible for the attacks.

The realm sits on the edge of war. With the King, Robert Baratheon, away hunting in the Kingswood, Eddard Stark is left responsible for passing the King’s judgement. Stark decides that Clegane should face the King’s justice and sends Lord Beric Dondarrion to retrieve him. The realm slides closer to the brink.

Meanwhile in Tumbleton, just seventy-five leagues southwest of King’s Landing, Lord Bandon Footly hosts a tournament for his youngest daughter Enna's coming of age, blissfully unaware of the turmoil beginning to grip the Seven Kingdoms. The turnout is lower than expected, as many noblemen and their retinues remained in King’s Landing following the Hand’s tournament. While a number of landed and hedge knights that have entered the tournament for a chance of glory, only a few noblemen have chosen to rest in Tumbleton as they return to their holdings throughout the Reach.

Though the lists failed to drawn any knights of renown, a sizable crowd of spectators and merchants descended upon Tumbleton from many corners of the realm. In the end, Ser Hugh Beesbury of Honeyholt emerges victorious, unhorsing Lord Footly’s eldest son Ser Gaston in the final. Ser Beesbury then names Enna the Queen of Love and Beauty and the tournament is considered a minor success.

However, as the celebration following the tournament’s conclusion extends deep into the late summer night disaster occurs. The ancestral weapon of House Footly, a longsword of Valyrian steel is taken during the night. The weapon’s owner, Ser Gaston Footly is found murdered in his bed with his young wife Therese vanished.

The next morning as many of the visitors begin to trickle out of Tumbleton, Lord Footly furiously demands for vengeance for his son and daughter-in-law and the return of his House’s ancestral longsword. The steward of Tumbleton puts out the word to those who still remain in the city. A party is being formed to bring the killer to justice and seek out the missing sword.

    Murder/Theft Suspects:

    Lady Therese Footly

    Locations Visited:

    Tumbleton, The Reach
Description: The town has a population of approximately 4,000 and acts a regional support centre for the agriculturally-focused surrounding area. The area around Tumbleton specializes in growing a variety of cereals. Livestock is another major industry in the region. The town is not a major commercial center, most major trade in the area occurs in Bitterbridge as shallows downriver prevent larger vessels from reaching Tumbleton. The town centre sits a few miles away from the shores of the Mander, which flows fast and fairly deep near Tumbleton. The town has spread largely away from the shoreline, which is somewhat marshy, into the foothills.
Points of Interest: The Town Center - Roughly situated in the middle of the town, which has spread out fairly evenly around the centre. It is a large, cobbled square with room for hundreds of visitors. One end of the square has a raised wooden platform used for speeches and hangings; Footly Castle - A modestly-sized castle with four stone walls that are raised 20 feet into the air, with a single iron gate, and small towers at all four corners. Inside the walls are a small barracks for the household’s servants and guard, a small stable, and living quarters for the Footly’s which is not a traditional keep, but more similar to a very large country house. All the structures are made largely of wood. The castle is a few miles into the foothills above the town and thus has a commanding view of the region. Festival Grounds - The festival grounds are located on a wide, flat meadow alongside the road that runs between Tumbleton and Footly Castle. During tournaments the field is covered with pavilions and temporary jousting facilities are erected.

Looks really good man. Can honestly I can't wait to start, but I did have a few questions concerning the style of how it works. If you tag another player, how long are they given to respond? I only ask, because there seems to be a lot of reliance on the other person actually being around a good bit. Since you've done this before (several times it sounds like) it must work, so how do you go about resolving such a dilemma? Just take control of the character since your the GM?

Lol Lenaya, I have the opposite feeling My character is a boring weakling next to you guys XD I didn't anticipate being the only person to make a non-combative character

This sounds so amazing so far! I love all the work and effort you're already putting into this!

EDIT: Oh, and just for kicks, I will include the picture of "Emberlynn" that I included in my original CS (That's why my "physical description" was so short... I included a picture haha) Basically I took a picture of the actress whose face I had in mind when I was thinking of her, then edited it extremely poorly so that she had green eyes and brown hair XD

I'm glad that everybody is looking forward to this as much as I am.

I'm happy to be working away at this to be honest, I'm very free for the next month (except next weekend, I am moving) and was actually starting to become a little bored. This is helping to pass the time.

@Jester: There are a couple different ways of handling it. If a person knows they'll be absent for a significant period, they should let me know. That way we can discuss what they have in mind for their character and I can control them. If a person is going to be a way for a short period of time, but would rather not have me control their character we just kind of pretend the character is hanging out in the background not really interacting with the group.

If a person vanishes without warning when their character I follow two rules.

    1) The 60-hour rule: If the TAG isn't that important. For example, "I think we should go left. Which way do you think should we go?" or "Tell me about yourself." We pretend that the character responded and move on. We will work that out in the OOC thread. In the case of "I think we should go left...," we'll assume they agreed, while I might use the history that you've provided to answer in the case of "Tell me about yourself."

    2) The 96-hour rule: This is used in key situations, such as combat or another life-or-death situation. If a player doesn't respond to a TAG in 96 hours and their group is facing an important situation, I will take control of the character. If a character has three straight violations of this rule, there is usually a sad end to the life-and-death situation.

I'm only generally expecting posts of 2-5 paragraphs (you can go longer if you'd like) in this style of game. I understand as well as anyone people get busy, but if you commit to an RPG you should be able to put in 10-20 minutes every other day.

She's not a boring weakling! She's a noblewoman, which means she knows things like proper etiquette, and how to braid hair and such. Nayrin's going to need someone to refer to when it comes to lady-like procedures ;o

but in all seriousness, she'd be an asset. I always assumed nobles had a good amount of information about the other houses, which is a nifty thing to have, especially if we're infiltrating their lands. You'd be our main source of information pertaining possible suspects as well, since most of us will have "rough hands" from fighting. That's a dead give away to a hard-worker, and we'd be less likely to be trusted. You, on the other hand, are a pretty noblewoman with flawless skin and hands of silk. I'm sure you could convince a man to drink to his heart's content and be tipsy enough to boast about his finds...or any information he knows.

This looks really good! I'm a huge fan of the codex. We used them back at an old site I used to RP at, and I've sort of been missing them here. It's certainly a lot easier than scrawling through several pages. I didn't realize I'd have the youngest character though, haha. Seeing as most everyone's so young in the books. So that'll be interesting :-D

I also think that a proper lady will come in handy ( ), I mean, it would be a disaster to let my character speak for the group with other nobles, trying to get something useful out of them. I can scare the souls out of them but usually that doesn't end well, when standind before a lord with his guardsmen all around.

And btw, I am absolutely hyped about this RP, can't wait to get into action.
