Maria has a medical issue... She has a moderate case of asthma and needs to carry her puffer around with her at all times and this has also concerned her parents on how well her first transformation might go.
Personality
Maria is an ironic individual, dressing all in black while being a very sunny girl. Her medical condition aside, she seems to have little or no problems in her life and has made her all the happier by it. While being sunny she also tries to act tough which to those who know her really well like friends and family, it's funny because of how she really is. They guess it's a sort of cloak of protection so she doesn't get hurt or something like that, because when she was younger she had been picked on because she had been a little runt and weaker then the others due to her asthma so she tended to rein her emotions in the presence of people she does not know as well. That put aside, she had a good life even if she couldn't be a real athlete and at the time was upsetting because she had enjoyed soccer very much but often couldn't play when she was younger because again of her medical condition.
This has not stopped her from moving into other things, such as pranking and poker playing, showing off her naughty side like the one time she snuck into her best friends room on April fools day and put whipped cream in her slippers.
