War over the Orb (Kethuel x Luna Griffith)

[Luna Griffith]

Ethelinda walked behind Jormungandr. She was worried about the elder dragon. She nuzzled him before she took off behind Pythius. She looked back at the old dragon. "Goodbye, good friend." She said softly as she flew away. She looked sad and worried. What if they didn't make it? What if they failed? Then the world would fail too. Everything would have been for not.

[Kethuel]

Jormungandr smiled as he saw the image of the two dragons silhouetted in the mouth of the cave. He remembered his days of adventuring. But this quest was much more important than research.

Pythius waited as Ethelinda walked up beside him, and nudged off as she leapt. He thought about the gravity if his quest; the fate of the world in his hands. He looked at his position and chuckled lightly.

As the young dragons left his cave, Jormungandr turned back to his stash. A wry smile crept onto his visage.

Pythius glided next to Ethelinda as they left the cave.
"So which direction are we going?" he asked.

Ethelinda pulled out the map and rolled it out. She quickly studied it as she hovered in the air. She traced her tail over it as she tried to figure out a good route. She smiled at Pythius as he glided up to her. "We go east." She said as she rolled the map up and put it away. She flew in that direction her wings flapping easily though the air. She was built for speed more than strength. She looked graceful as she flew.

Pythius looked at the map and agreed with ethelinda- east was a good way to go. The city they'd visit was east. There was where it got hotter as there were many volcanoes. The city, too was built inside a massive volcano. They'd have to stop off a couple of times, twice or three times, to get there.

Pythius looked at Ethelinda as she flew. She looked graceful as she flew. This was actually the first time he had taken a proper look at her. She was a beautiful dragon.

Ethelinda flew gently in the air. She flapped her wings until she got to an updraft that brought her up higher in the sky. She stretched her wings out and just glided for a while. Her eyes were down as she looked at the world below them. It would take them a while before they would reach the volcanic city. She felt eyes on her and she looked back to see who was looking at her. She smiled as she saw it was just Pythius. She then turned her head to look ahead once more.

Pythius flapped his wings hard, but it always seemed Ethelinda had an easier job of going faster. Well, it was to be expected. Ethelinda's smooth flush scales made for much better aerodynamicity((is that a word?)), compared to Pythius's many spokes along his spine, and his rough, large scales.

(I'll do it. And I don't know.)

Ethelinda spotted a nice cave to rest at as the sun began to set. She looked back at Pythius and sighed. He wasn't able to keep up with her well enough, so she had to slow down a bit. She smiled as her eyes spotted the cavern. "Let's rest there." She said as she hovered in the air. She pointed her snout toward the cave. She looked back at him to see if he said alright.

Pythius sure was tired by the time they stopped. His body was made for fighting, not flying. He felt relieved when they stopped. As Ethelinda pointed towards a cave, he trudged over. He had to get better at flying.

As he approached the cave, a short green dragon came out of it.
"Who are you?" asked Pythius.
"Why the name's Uther, bro! And you and this lady here may be whom?"

Ethelinda followed behind Pythius. When a green dragon came out she frowned. She had hoped that it was empty. Unfortunately it wasn't. She looked at Uther and bit her lip. "I am Ethelinda and this is Pythius. We were wondering if we could rest in your cavern. We have been flying all day and we're exhausted." She said gently as she looked at the short dragon. Even she looked tired from the day's flight. She might have been built for flying but she couldn't fly all the time. She didn't have the endurance.

[Kethuel]

"Ah, sure ya can, there's not much space, but we'll fit."
Pythius followed as Uther went back into the cave. There definitely wasn't enough space. They'd be nearly lying on top of each other. Uther grabbed a goat that he had been keeping from earlier, set it down in the cave floor, and torched it with his breath.

Pythius glanced around the cave. There was something not right. He couldn't put his claw on it, though. Then he heard the gravelly voice of uther saying;
"help yourself to some billygoat; it's not every day I get guests coming."
Pythius licked his lips with his forked tongue and ripped off a haunch and began chewing nomily.

Then he realised what was wrong with the cave. Uther had no hoard.
