Life is Beautiful & we Love Until we Die

    GamerGirl&Genkai in a Steve/Pepper Roleplay

    - - -

    It was over.

    It was all over. Finally.

Pepper Potts could relax and not worry about the company or Tony getting himself killed when he went into battle. The Avengers assembled and though she didn't meet any of them, she was very thankful for them. They had saved the city and the whole world. Not to mention it showed that Tony could make friends, which was good. Though Pepper was getting a bit tired of all the dangerous tidbits in her life. She had hoped that now she and Tony could focus on one another and put a pause on the rigorous business side of things. Sadly, the hectic encounter and attack on the newly established Stark Tower had made Tony determined to expand and promote his company. Pepper needed a break, needed to gather herself and figure things out.

So the couple decided to take a break. It would be hard being away from Tony for so long, about six months he guessed, but she needed some space to figure out her place in life. She was happy working with Tony and dating him but she couldn't help but wonder if there was more to her than that. When Tony was getting ready to leave, Pepper kissed him goodbye and reminded him they were only going to be a call away and that if he got into any trouble, she wouldn't be happy with him. That warning would have to do for now. Pepper would miss him and worry but she needed her space. Sure, she had been hoping that the two could leave, travel without working hanging around them. But maybe the space would do them some good. And Pepper was mostly hoping the space would make Tony really lonely and he'd come back and see she was right all along.

When she was sure she could manage things from a distance, she packed her things and took a train out to New Haven, Connecticut. It was a small town, quaint with only about 2000 people living in it. Everyone knew each other. Pepper decided to rent a small cottage and take some time to de-stress. The red haired woman wanted to be casual and out of the public eye for a while and what better place than a small town that seemed to ignore the passing of time? Setting up her small cottage, Pepper unpacked her cookware, clothes, furniture, and such. It was a small company but cozy two story cottage. It had a kitchen and living room and half bath on the first floor, it was all open. The second floor had her bedroom and a full bathroom connected to it. It was very fresh and inviting. Pepper really liked it, it was such a contrast from the modern stylish fashion back in LA or New York City. Pepper had found a small job working as an editor for the local newspaper.

Though she didn't want to deal with the press or anything, small town news was much easier on the eyes. At the moment, Pepper was dressed in very casual clothes, clothes that would surely entice Tony's wandering hands and eyes. Sadly for him, all he got was a picture via text, leaving Pepper to go into town. She had on a pair of jean shorts and a simple black tank top with her hair down and wavy. She had on plain sneakers but kept her phone with her. Habit. Walking along the dirt road, she made her way into town and headed into the local bank. She needed to get some money out so she could go get some groceries. Her kitchen was empty and begging for some attention. Pepper wasn't much of a chef but she could bake fairly well. Brushing some hair back, she stood in line behind an elderly couple. It was summer, a few festivals were going to be happening soon so she was excited about that.

There would be a lot to do while also taking it easy. As Pepper was staring off, waiting, she heard the door behind her open. She didn't think much of it until she heard the cock of a gun. Turning around, Pepper's heart froze for a moment. Her mind quickly went to Tony but Tony wouldn't be coming in to save the day. She suddenly became very mad at him. The assailant with said gun looked to be a woman, judging by her body shape. She was dressed in all black from head to toe. her face was hidden but she had a machine gun. 'That's a bit excessive!' Pepper frowned and quickly led the elderly couple behind a desk for shelter. She then stood up, not really sure what she was doing but she couldn't let the woman just open fire at everyone. "Just put the weapon down." Pepper said carefully. "No one has to get hurt for you to get what you want..." Pepper said.

Steven Rogers, a once frail man who underwent an experiment and was enhanced to the peak of human in order to aid the United States war effort in the early forties. Who knew that when first joining the war he’d be given the chance of greatness, a chance to be a hero. Then again he never really thought of himself as a hero, he was a man who did what was right. Lived in a righteous manner always doing good for others, as the war went on, he fought; as the war was won he was grateful. He would have been able to enjoy the rest of his time there if it wasn’t for Hydra. He had to take them down and do so accordingly.

The battle was long, it was near impossible, there was only thing he could do at the end. He drove the ship into the water. As he sunk to the bottom, the only thing on his mind was Peggy, he did this not only for her, but for the entire world, for if the Tesseract had fallen into the hands of another evil soul again, then it would be the end of the world, he wouldn’t be alive to save it, he couldn’t let that happen, he had to do what was needed to be done. Even if it meant giving up his life, he knew that Peggy would be safe and that was all he needed to know when sinking down into the water. His body was growing cold, he couldn’t see and slowly, darkness consumed him.

He’d thought he’d died, but awoke in a hospital bed, much to his surprise, he listened to the radio, things seemed off where was he? What had happened? Just then a nurse came in, Steve held his head and began to ask questions. She wasn’t telling the truth, she wasn’t clear; Rogers got to his feet and sped out of the room only to meet up with a man outside the building. Where was he? What was going on? What year was it? Confusion sped through his mind at the speed of light.

Months had passed from that day, he’d learned a lot, but he was still uncomfortable with it all. Danger swept through the world again, he had to fight and did so, this time not alone, with the Avengers, to put a stop to the evil, to make the wrong things right. Once the evil Loki was taken back to Asgard, the Avengers split up, went on their separate ways. Rogers needed to get away, he needed a break, he spent his time traveling through the United States, helping where possible. He needed a break; he wanted a place to settle down for a bit, after much searching, he rode his motor bike into a small town.

Just his luck, with his sharp sense of hearing, he could hear something going on in the bank. He didn’t have time to change into his suit, but he did have his shield. Taking it up the blue eyed male headed into the building. He saw two women, one who was obviously the culprit of the supposed robbery and one who seemed to have quite a bit of guts to do what she was doing. Rogers got a good look at her, he recognized her from somewhere but now wasn’t the time to dwell on this thoughts. Taking up his shield he flung it like a weapon, the shield racing rapidly and hitting the gun out of the woman’s hand, breaking it in half. The shield ricocheted off the wall and back to his hand which he caught it “Hey! Leave these people alone” came his voice sternly in a warning.

The assailant was taken aback from his sudden entrance, not to mention the destruction of her weapon. Not wanting to face anything from him at the current time she fled, Rogers was going to make a chase after her, but something stopped him, he had to make sure the civilians were alright. Turning his eyes fell upon Pepper “Are you alright, Miss?” he questioned before looking about to see people rising to their feet. Some of them whispering, others staring at the shield then the applause came, they realized they were saved by Captain America. Rogers gave a smile and a nod of his head a bit, this was still something that was going to take a lot of getting used to. “No need to thank me” he called out to the civilians. “I’m just glad everyone is alright”

She had no idea what to do, if she had a gun or some kind of weapon, she would be more useful but Pepper Potts was quite unarmed and in a very tight situation. The woman in black was out for more then just bank robbery. Why bring such a weapon if you wanted money? A statement was trying to be made. But what? She shook her head and slowly took a step forward but before she could try anything, a call came from outside. A large man appeared and came, holding a very patriotic shield. Pepper tilted her head, trying to remember where she had seen the man before. He looked familiar. It then dawned on her. He was Steve Rogers, aka Captain America! What was he doing around her hometown? Pepper just returned her attention to the broad shouldered male who hurled his weapon at the gun and broke it in half. 'Damn...' She thought, rather impressed.

Said disc then hit the wall and was caught by Steve. Expecting more, Pepper held her breath but the other woman quickly fled. Was that it? Pepper glanced around and saw everyone was fine. This would make the newspapers fly right off the shelves, Captain America was in their tiny town of nothing. Something still didn't sit well with the woman. She put a hand to her chin. Tony knew she was going to New Heaven, would he really send another Avenger to look after her? She wasn't five years old. She started to get rather furious. She didn't need anyone's help, despite what had just happened moments ago. Did Tony not trust her? Was that it? He could be childish, even now! Sure, sometimes it was cute but she wanted to be alone with herself.

The boy asked if she was okay and then everyone began clapping though she looked unamused. Pepper stalked over to the hero and looked up at him. For all she knew, Tony could have set up the lame ass attempt at a robbery to scare her. God, she hated men right now! "Did Tony send you after me or something?" Pepper asked him, voice laced with annoyance. "I don't need some babysitter to look after me. Whatever stunt was just pulled, does not convince me of anything." She said and poked him in the chest. "Tony did mention you, though you're not in whatever spangly outfit he mentioned." Then she realized she had seen him in it. Back in New York during that crazy battle. Even so, she wasn't saying thank you to a spy! "At any rate, I'd really appreciate it if you didn't follow me, I find it surprising someone like you would be swayed to take on such a mission."

"I can take care of myself, tell Tony to fuck off. And you can too." Pepper huffed and with that she just walked out. It was very rare of Pepper to show her claws, usually she was very annoyed and at the moment, she was. How dare Tony do this to her and everyone else? The last thing she wanted was another hero around. Making her way to the cafe across the street, she kept casting suspicious looks toward the bank. Leave it to Tony Stark to instill some sense of paranoia in his own girlfriend. Did she sent spies off to follow the playboy? Nope, the women of the world knew not to touch Tony, what so ever. Ordering a banana and chocolate shake, she sat out, still fuming. She was really scared back there, and she had no idea what to do.

How could she get payback for Tony's stunt?

Rogers stood there, shaking hands to those who came up to him, he wasn’t expecting what was to come next. Before he could even prepare for the fire, it hit him. Pepper was standing in front of him, accusing him of something he didn’t do. “Tony?” he thought back and shook his head but before he could even answer she went on with her accusations again, a baby sitter? Was she serious? “Stunt? .. Miss I’m sorry but yo-“ she walked off after cursing him to hell apparently which left the male to quirk a brow. She stormed off and out of the building.

Standing there it took Steve a few moments to register what had just happened “Tony… Stark” he then remembered Tony mentioning a red head “That must be Virginia Potts, of course I remember her” he’d saved her in New York City during the big fight. But why was she accusing him of something he didn’t do? Did Tony have a tendency to get over paranoid and do this sort of thing? Talk about high strung. Steve gave a sigh, he had to find a way to explain himself, to set the record straight, that he had no part in a so called ‘stunt’ from Tony Stark.

Steve Rogers headed out of the bank after making sure everyone in the building was fine, heading out, Steve looked about, he set his shield down on his bike which was parked outside and looked to a local who was awe struck, he questioned about Miss Potts and got pointed to the Café. Steve headed across the street toward it and entered, he figured he’d try to apologize and set the record straight before buying anything, it would just set an awkward tone to the already straining tension lingering in the air.

“Miss Potts?” he questioned as he slowly made his way over “I know I’m the last person you want to see, but please let me explain something” he placed his hand on the chair across from her before sitting down “I had no idea you were here, I don’t know what goes on between you two but I can honestly say this I only just arrived, heard a commotion in the bank and had to check it out” there was honesty and sincerity in his voice, a look of a true honest man within his crisp blue eyes as he looked to her.

“I’ve been traveling since the attack in New York City, haven’t found a stable place, figured I’d give this small town a shot. I’ve been fighting for a while, it’s not the easiest thing to do, it’s really rather stressful if you ask me” he gave smile at the thought before turning his gaze to her once again. “I don’t mean to intrude on you and your home town; I just need a place to call my own home for a while, to escape the city life. To be honest all that technical stuff, high end computers, high end homes and automobiles.. It’s not for me. I’m a simple man who wants a simple lifestyle” he glanced to a waitress who neared him with a pad of paper. He shook his head to her, saying he wasn’t up for anything. “I guess you can call it a temporary vacation” he gave her a smile the blinked as a cup of coffee was set down before him, getting the note that it was ‘on the house’ for the rescue at the bank.

Steve thanked the waitress and sweetened up the coffee “In all honesty, Miss Potts, I had no idea what that was back there. I just knew there were people in trouble that needed to be helped. She didn’t attack though, I’m shocked...” he took up his cup of coffee and blew the steam away before raising the rim to his lips and taking a drink. “… I am sorry if I caused you any distress, any anger… if you want, I can leave you be, let you enjoy your drink in peace”

She took out her cell phone and was about to finish sending Tony a strongly worded message when a certain somebody approached her. She glanced up as he placed his hand on the chair in front of her and then seated himself. She wanted to tell him to get lost and to have Tony try something less stupid but she decided it wouldn't hurt to let the guy say whatever it was that he wanted to say. She looked at him while he spoke on his own behalf, claiming he had just arrived and sensed some danger and had to help out. It seemed like he was being honest. Could he be? The man continued to talk about how life had been for him after the hectic incident in New York and how he wanted to stay under the radar for a bit. She could understand that. That's when she realized she had him all wrong. She slipped her phone away, finding the need to vent to Tony unnecessary at the moment.

She kept the message though, she was sure she'd need it sooner or later when Tony did something wrong. Pepper found herself smiling a bit at Steve as he said he wanted to have a vacation of sorts. She nodded and a waitress gave him some coffee for the help. Her shake came and drank some of it. She loved sweets and it was a welcomed cool drink in the heat. Steve wasn't as bad as she first thought, she felt horrible for blowing up at him. The guy had been through a lot already and her practically screaming at him didn't help any. Glancing down, she shook her head. "I'm so sorry." Pepper said, words Tony would give anything to hear. But of course she was sorry in this instance. She had assumed something and said terrible things when she should have been thanking Steve.

Looking up from her drink, Pepper gave him a bit of a puppy eyed look."I really am, I thought Tony had done something and...well..." He had gotten the gist of what she was getting at. "I was wrong, really. I'm sorry." She insisted and stared at him. Most guys would have blown up right back at her or have not bothered to right the wrong but not Steve Rogers, he had actually want to make sure she was okay and that he wasn't as bad as she thought he was. What could she do to make up for what she had done? He had saved her life twice now and she hadn't done a lot to return the favor. "Please let me make everything up to you. And you don't have to leave, no no, I don't mind the company." He was nice. And pretty easy on the eyes if she could say so. "I mean unless you want the company of someone who isn't insane." Pepper smiled a little to him.

Drinking some more of her shake, she set it aside with some money and got up. "If you do like this town, I can give you a tour, come on." Pepper said to him and managed to pull the guy out the door with her. When she set her mind to something, there was no stopping her. And the woman was determined to set things right again. Was his kindness spreading, maybe? But Pepper was generally a kind patient person, she did put up with Tony after all. She walked around and showed him the stores they had, as well as the small park and school. A lot of the people kept staring at Steve as they made their way back toward the bank where his motorcycle was. "You said you're just passing through right?" Pepper looked to him. "How about dinner tonight at my place?" She suggested to him. Oddly enough she didn't bother setting up a PC or anything, she just had her PDA and phone with her.

If she needed the net, she could go to a cyber cafe but she really was trying to get away. She paused and figured it would be easiest to just give him her address and let him come at his own leisure. She was probably being a bit too pushy anyway. She gave him her address and headed off to go grocery shopping. Now that she was going to be cooking something for Steve as well, she couldn't buy frozen dinner. There was a recipe that she was good at following. After going shopping, she headed back to her place and put everything away. She decided to make meatloaf and mashed potatoes. It was the kind of comfort food she remembered as a kid. And she also bought some ice cream for dessert. And she had yet to meet an American who didn't like sundaes. Even those lactose intolerant still enjoyed them.

Rogers sat there drinking his coffee as he kept his gaze upon Pepper, to some they would think he was insane, but the heat didn’t affect him much so he was just fine drinking it. Sitting there, he listened to her speak, she was apologizing over and over again it caused a smile to form upon his lips as he looked to her “Mistakes happen, you don’t need to apologize, Miss Potts” he gave her a smile, he was a very understanding and down to earth kind of guy. So it took a lot to faze him, he just wanted to set the record straight and he did, and he knew he did a rather good job of it with her apologies.

It was now known that Steven Rogers wasn’t like a normal guy these days, he grew up in the older days when men were polite, gentleman like and just the perfect man in a way. Handsome, athletic, polite, generous, what was there not to like about him? As she spoke that he could stay, Rogers kept himself sitting there, his eyes upon Pepper as he gave a a smile and nodded “Then I shall keep you company, Miss Potts , because you’re not insane, you’re just a bit over stressed” he finished his cup of coffee and turned his gaze to look out the window.

Then again could he blame her? Tony Stark was her boss, and overbearing, over confident, cocky, arrogant man, he knew someone like that in his past. “A tour would be greatly appreciated Miss Potts” he gave her a smile and it wasn’t long until the two were out of the café and heading out on the town to get a good view of it. The two were getting along quite well, it wasn’t long until they arrived back at the bank, Rogers leaning against his motor bike, looking to Pepper as she spoke again, he gave a nod to her first question then blinked a tad at her second and soon he bowed his head to her “That sounds like a nice plan, I’ll see you tonight”

When they parted ways, Rogers decided to check at the hotels for vacancies, yet it was close to the festivities so there were none which left the Captain in a bit of a pickle. Deciding to head to Pepper’s house a bit after checking in all of the hotels he headed off. It wasn’t long until the sound of his motor bike rode up to her cottage. He parked outside and headed up the steps to the door, giving a knock as he waited. The smell of food reached his nostrils; he could feel his mouth watering it smelled heavenly. He hadn’t had a home cooked meal in quite some time. As he waited, his crisp blue eyes looked about the porch; he’d gotten a good look at the front of the house. The plants, it was definitely a cozy place, reminded him a bit of the old days.

Pepper was trying to shed her usual skin of all-business and get into something more comfortable. And she was comfortable around the blond haired blue eyed angel of the past. He was different from Tony, so different and she liked it. Of course it was likely a crush. What woman wouldn't find the hunk attractive? But there was more to it than that, she could tell he was more than a pretty face, he had a good soul. They didn't make them like him anymore. What a shame, Steve would hopefully not get corrupted by the new technology and the century he was in. She couldn't imagine how crazy the world must seem, not to mention superheroes like Tony had replaced Captain America. Pepper was overwhelmed by technology at times and she grew up with it changing, but it was all being thrown at Steve, she understood the need to get away. Hopefully this escape would prove good to the boy. After New York, he probably wanted peace and quiet.

Good luck finding that in America.

Having grown up in a similar home like the cottage, Pepper was finding herself at home already. When she heard knocking, she got up from where she was sitting. She had the tv on but she wasn't really watching it. She turned it off in time to see she had some zany infomerical on. She had been reading a book as well and set it down. The book of course had her immediate attention. Getting up, she headed over and opened the door. "Hey." At least he found the place. The small yellow cottage was on the outskirts of town, which was why it was easiest to rent. "Come in." Pepper stepped aside and closed the door after he entered. Part of her wanted to ask how Tony had been with the other Avengers but she didn't want to go there. And she knew Tony and Steve didn't see eye to eye. She could see why.

But since drama could be avoided, she would avoid it and just walked over to the kitchen area. "So..." Pepper then realized they hadn't officially introduced themselves, should she call him Steve? They knew who one another was but they still hadn't really meet like anyone normal would. But their lives were anything but normal. Getting them both some ice water, she walked over and handed him a glass and motioned for him to sit down with her on the couch. "You know we haven't really introduced ourselves." She laughed a little. "I mean I know who you are but still..." She trailed of and set her glass down and held out her hand. "So hi, I'm Pepper Potts." She smiled to him. The food would be done in a bit, they could probably talk or just relax while they waited. She wondered what festival would be coming up first. From her childhood, she remembered one of them had to do with gardening and stuff.

Some others had to do with baking and stuff. And some had to do with animals. It was all pretty cute but Pepper didn't think she would want to get too involved. She would of course attend but she didn't have animals, she didn't garden but maybe she could bake something, enter it into a contest. It could be fun. Though Pepper had a bit of a hot competitive streak. She would want to win and that might take the fun out of doing it in the first place. She had time to relax, so maybe it was best she just kept to herself for a while. Though if Steve was going to be sticking around, then he wouldn't be too bad to hang out with every once in a while. She wasn't sure what he planned to do around town, did he even know? "Oh, please call me Pepper, Ms. Potts just makes me think of work...and makes me sound a little old." She laughed slightly.

Rogers was a patient man, very respectful, he slipped his hand into his pockets while waiting for Ms. Potts to open the door. It didn’t take long for the door to open, when it did, the beautiful face of Pepper came into view, a smile forming upon his lips as he bowed his head to her and stepped into the house when she gave him permission to enter. Even now, after all he witnessed with the world, being thrown into a modern world and expected to handle it, Rogers kept to his manners, kept to his old self, kept the old fashioned life style. “You have quite the lovely home, Miss Potts” he spoke as she headed into the kitchen.

When she, handing him a glass of ice cold water, Rogers reached out for the glass and smiled “Thank you, Miss Potts” when he gestured for her to take a seat, he did so. Her laugh caused him to give a near grin, it had been quite some time since he heard a woman laugh, and he had to admit that Miss Pepper Potts had quite the beautiful voice to begin with, her laugh only made her even more appealing to him. He took a drink of the water and slowly placed it on the nearby coffee table, reaching out he took a hold of her hand and gave it a good shake “It’s a pleasure to meet you Miss Potts” he gave a kind smile “I am Steven Rogers, you can call me Steve”

The two sat back, Rogers taking up his glass of water, getting a bit more comfortable against the cushions of the couch, he listened to her speak and gave a smile, nodding his head “Then Pepper it is” he gave a chuckle taking another drink of water. Sitting there he looked about the house at the décor before finally turning his gaze back to her “I was told that there are quite a few festivals that are coming up in the next few days I believe some of the locals said” he glanced out the window “If I would have known that all of the hotels would be booked with no vacancies I’m not really sure what I would have done actually” he gave a chuckle, shook his head.

“Spent a good part of the afternoon going from hotel to hotel, all of them booked, this must be the big event of the year I’m guessing” he thought back to his time, they had festivals back then, he was sure it would be very different this time around, but all he could do now was really enjoy himself as much as he could, it wasn’t like they’d invented time machines to take you back. But, did he really want that? It wasn’t like he could unsee or undo what had already happened. From all the humans he met, the most interesting, the one that caught his attention most was Pepper, Tony Stark was sure one lucky man, that much Rogers could tell.

She shook his hand and smiled. "Hello Steve." She grinned but frowned a little when he explained that the hotels were filled up. "It is a busy time of year for this place..." She nodded and sipped her water and set it down. "Well you could stay here...if you wanted to." Pepper suggested. She was sure Tony would protest, if he found out. And why did he need to find out? They were on a break right now. She loved Tony, he was amazing but that didn't mean she couldn't be around other men right? Knowing Tony he was probably drinking with women or something, even though he wanted to focus on his business at the moment. Pepper wanted to have some freedom of her own, before she was put in the ground anyway. "I mean I wouldn't want to make things weird for you." She added as she got up when the oven went off.

Moving back into the kitchen, she took the dishes out of the oven and let them cool off for a bit. Still, she didn't want Steve to have to pay to stay somewhere. There was no reason why he couldn't stay with her. Maybe Tony would beg to differ but it wasn't like anything would really happen between her and Steve. He was a nice guy, but Pepper was pretty sure he was harmless when it came to romancing her. From what Natasha had filled her in on, Steve could be a bit shy around women due to not having much experience in that department. But he wasn't being too shy around her. And it wouldn't hurt to have a man around. He could protect her, should she need it, or should she need to open a jar or something.

Knowing Tony, he would do it some backasswards way and make it too complicated. Pepper glanced at her food and hoped it turned out okay. She and Tony just ordered out or went out to eat, so it had been a while since she had gotten to make any sort of entree before. Even though she liked to poke at Tony, she did care about him. She hoped he was doing alright and wasn't causing too much trouble. He had her number, hopefully he wouldn't call her while she was sleeping or something. But if he was in trouble, she would definitely be there for him no matter what. They had been through a lot together. She was lucky to have someone in her life, it was better than no one. Steve probably didn't have anyone. His family, loved ones, they were likely all gone by now. She couldn't imagine waking up one day and being some a strange situation.

But Steve seemed to be making the best of it, which was more than what she thought she could handle. Not to mention he fought for people's lives, people he didn't even know or understand. So offering a place to stay was the least she could do. And well, feed him too of course. If he wanted to be fed by her. Her food might change that. It would be nice if he could cook though, that way she could handle the dessert side of things. Dishing out their food, she walked back over to him and handed him his plate while he thought about her offer. Her job would require her to go into town but for the most part she could edit from her house and relax.Maybe Steve wanted to do the same. Whatever it was, she didn't think it would be too much of an inconvenience on her part. Of course if he wanted to try and repay her somehow, she couldn't really stop him.

Pepper began to eat and decided her cooking was alright, considering she hadn't done it in a while.

Rogers wasn’t expecting her to actually say he could stay there, it left him a bit shocked at first, but soon the male gave a nod “Well thank you kindly, Pepper” that was something he’d have to get used to. He never really spoke to women yet here he was holding a conversation with one, laughing, smiling, it was unlike him to do it, but he was actually having quite a good time. “Weird? Nonsense, not at all” he called out to her as she got up and headed on over to the kitchen “I just don’t wish to intrude, I’ll help when needed… speaking of help would you like some at the moment with the serving… of ... the … food” realizing how silly that sounded he shut up and just sipped his water.

Nervousness was slowly starting to swarm through the patriotic Hero as he took in the realization that he was in the house of Pepper Potts, Anthony Stark’s love interest. Tony at times would babble on about her, especially when drunk. Since Steve couldn’t get drunk, he was always the one who did listen and a lot of the times he’d wished he couldn’t because some of the things said could not be unheard. In a way, Steven was glad he couldn’t get drunk, because many of them acted like such fools. Then again, when ‘she’ popped into his mind, he couldn’t handle it, that’s when he’d start up with going to gym day after day for nearly a week or two in a row.

Even now, at times Peggy would fill his mind, sometimes the good times, sometimes the bad, either way it left him grieving, but what could he do? Peggy had lived a good life after that, he knew because Fury was able to fill him in. It didn’t take long for Steve to come back to his senses, he looked about the room, and realized where he was, he’d gotten lost in his memories for a moment, thankfully Pepper wasn’t around just yet, he took that moment of solitude to unwind from his thoughts and sit back with his glass of water. It wasn’t long after when Pepper neared with the plates of food, Steve set his cup of water down and took up the plate giving her a nod and thanked her for her kindness.

The food spelled delicious, just look down at it was making his mouth water at the delicious aromas “It smells and looks wonderfully delicious” he picked up his fork and began to eat. For being a man who had to settle for fast food places while he traveled not having a stable home since, about never from the time he awoke in the facility. “Absolutely amazing” he spoke after swallowing the food in his mouth “You really must show me how to make it” yes, he was a man that cooked. Not very often but when he could get a chance to be able to sit in the kitchen and spend time cooking but he did enjoy it and his dishes would come out great, at least they did in the past.

Sitting there, continuing to eat, he thought back on her offer “Thank you, for allowing me to stay here, I won’t be a bother” he gave her a smile, picking up his glass to get a drink of water. “In fact I’ll help all that I can; I might even look for some employment somewhere around here. He had money though, he could easily look for his own place there in town, but he wasn’t sure if how long he actually wanted to stay, if it was going to be as nice as it was now, having company, laughing and smiling, Steve might not want to leave.
