The year 2024 would not bode well for the United States of America let alone the rest of the world. The mephix strain would slaughter the human population with no regard to genetic history, country of origin, or socioeconomic standing. The virus acted similar to Michael Chricton’s nightmarish Andromeda Strain, clotting the blood wholly and completely. There was no escaping the inevitable, those who did not die immediately were driven insane and began killing themselves in drones. The r-naut of the virus ensured that every infected person would pass it along to at least four others. Escape was not an option. But finally salvation was delivered under the banner of Flo Corp, a large pharmaceutical giant that had risen from the ashes created by the chaos of mephix fallout. Flo Corp came to the people of the United States with what they needed most, a cure. Flo Corp had mass produced the vaccine and picked up the U.S. government from the squalor it was in. Flo Corp inoculated the entirety of the United States population for free, but the rest of the world was not as lucky. Those that were close friends of the United States were let in under a gesture of friendship. But this gesture had a cost. Each sovereign nation abdicated supreme power of it’s country to Flo Corp. If Flo Corp was not happy with their decisions Flo Corp would change it. Those that would not buy into Flo Corp’s faustian deal were taken over, they had been left weakened from the plague. Russia and China fell in months, other nations in days at a time. Flo Corp had also cornered the market on military equipment, securing an easy profit selling as the World Wars ensued. Flo Corp used its massive power to conquer the world. The only place left resisting was the stubborn island of Australia. Isolated from the rest of the world, Australia had been able to quarantine itself before the virus reached its shores. When Flo Corp finally came knocking they refused the offer. There was no need for a vaccine at that price. Australia had time. It wasn’t long until Flo Corp declared war, bringing not only guns, but mephix.
Background
At the time of the RP’s beginning Australia is the only nation left standing in command of its own government. Half of the RP will be taking place in the warzone that is Australia. We are 20 years after the administration of the vaccine.
America’s government has been left mostly in tact despite Flo Corp influence. To the American people it appears as if everything is functioning as normal. But not everyone has been fooled, and the seeds of discontent have been sown. Four months from the beginning of the roleplay America will have finally paid off it’s debts to Flo Corp. In theory this should allow the US to disenfranchise from Flo Corp. Flo Corp is not going to let that happen. In four months Congress will be forced to vote on a bill to continue the corporate dominion of the United States of Flo Corp. Currently the eastern and western coasts have sided with Flo Corp. The new Dominion has done wonders for business, cities like New York and Los Angeles have bloomed to limits never thought possible. The weath of the two coasts is beyond belief.
However the center of the states has a different outlook. The central states were hit hard by the plague, dropping their already low population numbers, but now with Flo Corp in command the poverty rates have risen. The central states have been stuck running community farms, long hours in factories and mines, and cheap manual labor to help aid the Flo Corp war machine. The central states have been enslaved by Flo Corp’s corporate greed and are threatening seccession if the bill passes in four months.
The eyes of the nation are fixed on capital hill.
What You'll Be Doing
This RP will take place on two fronts, the Australian campaign, and the Senate Chambers of Washington DC. A person can RP in either front, or even both but are encouraged to pick the same side of both. (Secessionists would fight for Australia, Flo Corp soldiers would be for the bill.)
Each player will be randomly assigned a state within the side they want to fight for. They will be the senator for that state. Some states will be split down the middle and thus, you can request one of these states and you will be randomly given a side. Senators will both RP out of the chambers, and give speeches in the chambers. Actions outside of the chambers will be assessed for influence, and the speeches given inside Congress will be graded on impact. Senators want to accrue as much influence as possible by campaigning and working politics outside of congress, alongside giving powerful speeches in the chambers.
The Australian campaign will work very similar to a normal nation/military RP. Eventually the American front will turn into something similar.
If you are interested in only one front that is fine, you don’t have to participate in both, but both will be going on at the same time.

I'm liking what I read. I see a potential military-slash-spy thriller within this. Political games and tactical prowess for us to partake in and watch as the world is changed by the will of the clever, strong and tactful.
I would like to know some more information as to how we will be taking our roles, piece by piece within this world; or will we simply flow into the story and discover that for ourselves?
You should probably make the opening image slightly smaller so it doesn't stretch the page and make the text annoying to read.
Regardless, I'm definitely interested. If Flo Corp is up for grabs, I'll probably craft some sort of ruthless robber baron type. If not, I'd probably go for the DC front.

I'm not sure if I understand the question exactly. For the Australian front the characters will be placed into the war as it is going on. The exact situations will be posted in the OOC. We'll start with a battle for all the characters to be in.Originally Posted by Killjointica
The senators will all already be elected and actively governing the nation. They'll start off just doing their jobs. In the first IC post the situation will be more fleshed out as to what they need to react to and different NPC characters/companies/organizatoins they can work with.
