Looking for five individuals to RP the actions of five Armor Companies set in Europe during the 1980s. You can command either an American Armor company of M1 Abrams or a Soviet Armor Company of T-80 MBTs. There is also a Soviet Reconnaissance Company composed of BMPs and BRDMs. There will be a posting order.

In April 1985, the Warsaw pact nations declare war on NATO. You are either a company commander in the U.S. Army's 1st Armor Battalion, 33rd Armor Regiment, 3rd Armor Division or a company commander in the Soviet first independent tank battalion.

Soviet forces are tasked with probing enemy positions and bypassing lightly defended areas.
U.S. forces are tasked with destroying as many enemy forces as possible in order to deny enemy access to rear echelon areas.

Positions available
1. U.S. Company commander, B Co. 1-33 AR Bn (first lieutenant or captain)
2. Soviet battalion commander, First independent tank battalion (ITB) (major or lieutenant colonel)
NOTE: The Soviet battalion commander will be chosen from the Soviet Company commanders after those positions have been filled.
3. First company commander (first lieutenant or captain). This position is subordinate to the battalion commander.
4. Second company commander (first lieutenant or captain). This position is subordinate to the battalion commander.
5. Third company commander (first lieutenant or captain). This position is subordinate to the battalion commander.
6. 91st reconnaissance company commander (first lieutenant or captain)

US Company commander
Unit consists of: 14x M1 Abrams main battle tanks (MBT)
4x M901 improved tow vehicle (ITV)
4x M2 infantry fighting vehicles (IFV) & 24 dismounts
2x M3 cavalry fighting vehicles (CFV)
Direct support (DS) field artillery (FA): one battery of M109 155mm SP artillery.

U.S. Company organization: The company headquarters consists of two main battle tanks occupied by the company commander and the executive officer; three armor platoons with four main battle tanks each; two antitank sections with two ITV's in each section; one scout section with two CFVs & one of mechanized infantry platoon with four IFVs and 24 dismounts.

Soviet Battalion Commander
Unit consists of: 31x T-80 MBTs
18x BMP-B
6x 122mm (SP) howitzers

The Soviet Battalion organization: the battalion headquarters section consist of one main battle tank; the battalion commander. There are three tank companies numbered first tank company, Second company, and third company. The battalion also controls the 91st reconnaissance company and first battery fifth field artillery regiment.
NOTE: the Soviet battalion commander will be chosen from the Soviet Company commanders after those positions have been filled.

1st Soviet Tank Company Commander
Unit consists of: 10x T-80 MBTs
3x BMP-B & 21 dismounts

The Soviet tank company organization: the headquarters section consists of 1x T-80 main battle tank occupied by the company commander, three tank platoons consisting of 3x T-80 main battle tanks each and one motorized infantry platoon with three BMP's and 21 dismounts.

2nd Tank Company Commander, 1st ITB
Unit consists of: 10x T-80 MBTs
3x BMP-B & 21 dismounts

The Soviet tank company organization: the headquarters section consists of 1x T-80 main battle tank occupied by the company commander, three tank platoons consisting of 3x T-80 main battle tanks each and one motorized infantry platoon with three BMP's and 21 dismounts.

3rd Tank Company Commander, 1st ITB
Unit consists of: 10x T-80 MBTs
3x BMP-B & 21 dismounts

The Soviet tank company organization: the headquarters section consists of 1x T-80 main battle tank occupied by the company commander, three tank platoons consisting of 3x T-80 main battle tanks each and one motorized infantry platoon with three BMP's and 21 dismounts.

91st Reconnaissance Company Commander
Unit consists of: 4x BMP-Bs
4x BRDM-2s

The recon company organization: there are two recon sections consisting of two BMP's each and two recon sections consisting of two BRDM's each.

NOTE: Soviet field artillery unit will be controlled by the battalion commander.

Situation.The U.S. Armor company team will have 72 hours to prepare a defense (game time). Engineer assets will be made available to construct hull and turret defilade positions. Engineers will assist in creating a limited number of obstacles in order to canalize or interdict enemy movement. If you choose to create an obstacle plan it must be approved by your battalion commander and the battalion's engineer officer. It is recommended that you plan 2 to 4 targets for your DS artillery. The brigade has in a liaison officer (ALO) at each Bbattalion within the brigade has a forward air controller (FAC). The company commander and the scout section leader can call artillery fire and request close air support (CAS) when available. NATO Air assets will only fly if the weather is fair and the skies are clear. The following air assets are available in theater:
1. A-10 thunderbolt (CAS)
2. F-16 fighting falcon (CAS and or AC)
3. F-15 eagle (AC)
4. F-104 starfighter (AC) Bundes Republik Deutschland
5. Panavia Tornado (AC) Royal Air Force

Situation. Once the U.S. player has prepared his defense and posted his plan and any JPG's relating to the defense, the Soviets may begin their advance. Players desiring to play the Soviets will choose one of the three tank companies or the recon company. Once all four of these positions are filled, the four company commanders will elect one of them to also portray the Soviet tank battalion commander. The four Soviet commanders should take some time to discuss the course of action and a posting order based on the Soviet course of action.

The Soviets can cross attach any units they wish except the artillery. The battalion commander's tank will travel with the company that is owned by the player who is doubling as the battalion commander. Only the battalion commander and the reconnaissance company commander may call in artillery or request close air support. The FAC is at division. Soviet Air assets available include:
1. Sukhoi Su-25 frogfoot (CAS)
2. Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-25 foxbat (AC)
3. Mikoyan MiG-27 Flogger D-J (AC)

Air support can be requested, but will be resolved by the thread moderator.

CAS: close air support
AC: air control mission
FAC: Forward Air Controller

When calling in artillery or CAS attempt to describe the target location as best as possible. Remember you are attacking the ground and not an immovable object. The expectation is that the movable object will be present on the ground when the rounds impact. Also artillery and air ordnance cover a large area of terrain. For 122mm and 155mm the sheath may be 70m by 300m. For air ordnance it may be 100m by 100m or larger.

Don't consider this like your traditional RP. By all means, RP to your hearts content. The purpose, is this is a war game. This is why I placed it in the Arena. I will provide maps. This will be in the vicinity of the Fulda Gap, near a town called Bad Hersfeld, Germany. Your primary task will be to detail how you would maneuver/place your units. I'll decide the outcomes.
