The Book

The Book of Darkness is a book that has traveled through time relatively untouched. Today, it would merely look like a really old book, maybe from the 19th century. The book has no formal title, and is only referred to in very obscure folk lore as "The Book of Darkness". What's special about this book, is that it can only be opened at night, any attempts otherwise and it would seem like it was stuck shut. The book can only be opened indoors as well. Once the book has been opened, a challenge is presented to all people within the room that it was opened. Once they have been challenged, the top priority is to survive, while trying to end the challenge. The book has the ability to manifest objects, creatures, anything it needs. The challenges can, and will be life threatening to the characters. After a challenge is completed, the book will close, but the building will remain unable to escape from until the characters have completed every challenge in the book. The book has come into possession of an unknowing librarian (either a PC or myself, if I get no volunteers) who opens it, sending the library and all of it's inhabitants into a realm of darkness. The challenges reflect the characters deepest fears, worst shames and darkest secrets.

The Setting

The story will take place inside the Redridge Falls Public Library. Every character will, for one reason or another, be in the library at the time of the opening of the book (although, I may allow a detective or sheriff on the outside who's trying to figure out what's going on). The date is January 23, 2012. It has just lightly snowed and it's been pretty chilly the past few days.

1) Cursing and gore is allowed, but don't be stupid about it. A staff member will remind you if you begin to get too graphic.

2) Keep sexuality (which I doubt there will be any of, unless it's presented by me) to a very low. Stay classy San Diego.

3) Try to post at least 2-3 times a week with a minimum of one paragraph, if you feel you want to write more, go ahead, but one paragraph isn't too much .

4) If you have suggestions, comments, concerns please please please please talk to me!

Your Past

Probably the most important part of the RP. I would like each person to PM me a detailed history of their character. Please include at least 2 "banes". Banes can be fears, regrets, character flaws, some trial your character went through that emotionally scarred them or anything you want (imprisonment, claustrophobia, widower, etc). If you take more than 2 banes, each bane you take will allow you to have a "boon". A boon can be exceedingly positive character traits, but nothing super human (Served in the military, kung fu training, monk like composure, etc). Each character is allowed one boon at start, regardless of the number of banes. Please list your banes and boons separately, or highlight them within the bio you PM me. You DO NOT have to reveal any information to other characters if you do not want to. You may privately whisper between each other to gain information about each other, just notify me first.

Physical Description : Curly, short, and rebellious dirty blond hair. Greenish-blue eyes, that have a mischievous twinkle, angular features, and the beginning of stubble on the chin. Lightly built, standing about 6 foot 5 inches tall, weighing 80 Kg. Muscles are well defined, but not overly big. He doesn't work out, as such, and his stamina is off the charts. Physical Description:
Anelle's long, brown hair can usually be found in a tight bun, unless she's alone or it's a special occasion, on which occasions it's trailing down her shoulders and down to her waist. Her distinct, although petite, facial features are as fresh as a raindrop, and just as pleasing to the eye. Striking gray eyes add to her looks.
On her face usually rests a pair of crooked, wire-rimmed eyeglasses. This is not always the case; she sometimes wears contacts when she can muster the courage to put in contacts. Anelle is short in comparison of her giant relatives, who mostly tower above her at 5'9.

Yes the librarian is still available
